I think the thing about this song is.... I'm a veteran myself, and lived on military pay as a 19 year old. When you get a big bill, living like that, it's this big compounding thing, this demonstration of all the things holding you back.
The song probably started from a Verizon bill. But what it's really about is all the shit life throws at you, making survival hard.
It's really a demonstration of his true talent, that he can take something as simple as a Verizon bill and chase that frustration to it's raw source, and talk about what it REALLY means to you

If you are impressed at all by him performing this one song in his cold attic you HAVE to find a good video of him performing ANYTHING live at Red Rocks a few weeks ago. He put on a 3 hour show through the freezing cold rain and snow and it only made him sound better. The one I think you'd appreciate the most lyrically is, Billy Stay but just anything from Red Rocks is worth a reaction, please!!!
