Hey, heroes! I'm streaming on Twitch again this weekend! On Saturday I'm starting Final Fantasy III for the PSP, and on Sunday it's Yakuza: Kiwami 2!
www.twitch.tv/merrymarvelite
I'm disappointed that you didn't mention that the Destroyer appears to have been the first superhero created by Stan Lee.
I didn't forget Destroyer, I remember him from his apearences in Spider-man the animated series!
Same
I only remembered The Whizzer.
I learned so much of Marvel Comics history from this channel! It's like listening to the Marvel Universe Handbook!
Its great to learn about less explored corners of the Marvel U and it's so cohesive that a die hard fan can learn plenty of new information about their favorites.
The Marvel U Handbook is a great comparison. I haven't seen a physical copy of one in YEARS!!!
@@sneezediamonds Agreed. There's always something new to learn from the channel!
I've been a Marvel reader for a long time, and I love finding information I didn't know!
@@sneezediamonds I miss them, to be honest. They were fun and informative!
Facts I call it a podcast !
I wish Captain America: The First Avenger featured more of these heroes.
I'm hoping that with the Multiverse opened up, there will be an Invaders film set during the Second World War in our future, with the full cast: Captain America, Bucky, the Human Torch and Toro, the Sub-Mariner, Union Jack, Spitfire, the Destroyer, Citizen V . . . !
I admit it would've been cool to see destroyer, whizzer, thunderer, and such in Captain America The First Avenger, but I can imagine the reason they didn't have them, was because they wanted to keep the focus on Captain America. I mean when you try to throw in too many heroes into a movie that's suposed to be about the title characters it becomes a mess, case in point, Batman V Superman Dawn of S**T!
That 'Destroyer' mini-series from 2009 by Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker is one of my favorite comics of the last 20 years. I did'nt remember the Destroyer character when it came out, even though I have all those old Invaders comics from the 70's, so in a way, this was my introduction to the character. That was a fantastic story, great writing, and great art, as one would expect from the original team who brought us 'Invincible'.
That must be the most complicated history of a superhero ever!
Donna Troy says otherwise lol
Clearly you aren’t a Ghost Rider fan… lol
It would be awesome to get a video entirely about the Golden Age (and modern day revisits of the Golden Age) and a rundown of everything that happened during WWII in the Marvel Universe.
Not forgotten for me. Both Aubrey and Falsworth have both been favourite characters since the Invaders days.
Thanks for this. The mighty destroyer is my favorite timely/marvel hero. You need to do more vids on WW2 heroes.
Who knew the destroyer's origin would be SO convoluted and confusing!
The confusion comes from having 2 men share the identity and not keeping track which is which, possibly even forgetting there 2 men at all.
The Destroyer ! Stan Lee was 17 years old when he created this , his very first superhero . The Destroyer mask bears a strong similarity to a much later Simon/Kirby character Manhunter .
The Destroyer (Keen Marlow) was one of Timely Comics' most popular and long-running superheroes, outlasting all the others except Captain America, Human Torch, and Sub-Mariner. Therefore I curse Roy Thomas for so cavalierly rebooting the character as a mere exercise in convoluting the story of Brian Falsworth (Union Jack II). He attempted to totally erase Keen Marlow from Marvel history, and then had Falsworth promptly cast the Destroyer identity aside, never to use it again. So thanks to Robert Kirkman for finally restoring the *real* Mighty Destroyer to Marvel Universe history in 2009. Keen Marlow lives!!
I loved the Mark Bagley costume redesign for Thunderbolts
I think Sharon Carter is the most recent incarnation of The Destroyer now
You are correct.
Excellent video and love me some Destroyer...seen an update
I never forgot this hero. The MAX comics introduced me to this guy.
Is it good? I'm not normally keen on much of Robert Kirkman's work. But I am rather interested in this one.
His design is very similar to classic Drax The Destroyer. The design was probably a direct reference, but i was wondering of they ever connected the two
he has nothing to do with drax the destroyer.
Thanks for the reminder of the Destroyer! My memory is "KeRpLuNk!" so, this was awesome to watch. 💥💯
Love the video and your content I kinda like the golden age, heroes and kind of sad they don’t get talked as much I mean in DC there’s a ton of golden age heroes that are so around, but in marvel, that’s kind of small the only golden age heroes that are still around in the modern day and Marvel Captain America Bucky, the original human torch, Turo, and Neymar I want to learn more about the golden age marvel heroes, so can you at least make a video about those heroes at some point? Also, you’re a good narrator
Kudos to you for untangling such a complicated history. I have a few of the Invaders and Thunderbolts comics Roger is in and he is a cool character. I am familiar with the Destroyer and I have always loved his costumes. His V-Battlaion costume is particularly cool.
yeah it's a genuinely good update of a costume. it keeps all the necisary elements but adds and expands on it without overpowering the original feel.
@@Lazrael32 Exactly. And even for an original character it would be a cool costume.
Excellent job 👏👍👌🙌❤
One of the most convulted retcons ever by Roy Thomas.
Roy Started it but a lot of people have messed with the Destroyer
I remember him in an issue of The Invaders back in the day.
An enjoyable video detailing the tangled history of The Destroyer.
Personally, I would have liked a little publication background before the events of the canonical timeline. Destroyer, Citizen V & the V Battalion originated from the 1940's Timely comics, while The Invaders, the Crusaders and Union Jack were all created in the 1970's and retroactively added to Marvel canon. I might be wrong about Jack, though - I'm going off my memory rather than any actual research. Please don't yell if I'm wrong!
Excellent content!!
Can you do origin of the Brood, the Gladiator, Hyperion, Star-Splendor, Havok, Vulcan, Jackal, Stingray, Quasar, Squirrel_Girl, Ultimus, Kly'bn, Kitty Pryde, Yotat, Dr.Faustus, Annihilus and Tryco Slatterus the Champion of the Universe?
Impressive and great work.
Jeez, what was the word count on that script!?
The information flowed together well but man there was a lot
This channel rules. The amount of effort you put into this is nothing less than amazing. Marvel films should really pay you to fix their bullshit MCU….
the last thing they want is someone who loves the characters or has a passion for the medium. don't forget it's the fans who are the problem. they are the ones who are wrong! lol.
@@Lazrael32 i find your lack of faith disturbing….
FEED MY BRAIN
Let's get a more in depth vid on Citizen V and the V Battalion! Favorite Destroyer will always be Keen for his appearances in the 90s Spider-Man TAS.
One of the most underrated costumes in all of comics on top of everything else!

Marvel should bring back the weekly serial with these characters on going...
Since you did the History of the Mandarin and Fin_Fang_Foom, can you do history of Ultimo as well as the Shang-Chi villain known as the Death_Dealer?
Can you do history of the A-Force, U-Foes, Excalibur team, the Ultimates team, Starjammers, Alpha Flight, the Annihilators, the Invaders, the Squadron Supreme, Doom Maidens, the Midnight_Sons, Young Avengers, Dark Avengers, Masters of Evil, the Thunderbolts and the Champions?
I'm hoping that with the Multiverse opened up, there will be an Invaders film set during the Second World War in our future, with the full cast: Captain America, Bucky, the Human Torch and Toro, the Sub-Mariner, Union Jack, Spitfire, the Destroyer, Citizen V . . . !
Thanks for the amazing video ❤
Can you do history of the Beyonder, Crossfire, Living Laser, Iron Monger, Titanium Man, Crimson Dynamo, Whiplash, Ultimo, Darkhawk, Union Jack, Annihilus, the Badoon and the Broods?
Thanks for the video
Can you do origin of the Grim Reaper, Quicksilver, Devondra, Sentry, Mr Immortal, Captain Universe, Dreadknight, Deathcry, Blizzard, Starhawk, Flerken, Whirlwind, Chemistro, Whiplash, Ronan the Accuser, Ego the Living Planet, the Living Tribunal and Palibok the Power Skrull along with Avenger-X and the Protector?
Need a Timely comics Destroyer history to help understand the characters. So many of these characters and heroes where created in the Invaders in the 70's and not actually golden age creations.
*Spoilers!!!*
You missed one thing. In the Captain America: Cold War storyline recently released, Destroyer comes out of retirement one more time. The mantle of Destroyer gets passed on once again after that.
Can you do history of the characters mentioned in this video?
How many characters are called the Destroyer like Drax the Destroyer and the Asgardian Destroyer(Enchanted_Armor)?
THIS CHANNEL IS 'EXCELSIOR' 👍 ..
Drax is for sure my favorite Destroyer. Obviously I mean the 70s Warlock version not the terrible Guardians of the Galaxy version. It's a crime what they did to that character.
Same here
Very true.. That's the "MCU" for you..🙄
Couldn’t disagree more
No pleasing you nerds
@@SaudiGod He's right though. Why not ask a question before judging? He didn't say anything bad.🙄
am gonna say both Kevin and Brian were the Destroyers at the same time
What would happen if we saw these Destroyers or their successors making their MCU debut in the upcoming Thunderbolts movie?
The name is pronounced FALLsworth, as in; "he took a bad fall."
How long till you finish doing White Tiger: legacy of the Tiger by doing the history of Ava Ayala White Tiger who's the daughter of Hector Ayala? Can you do the history of Intelligencia in honour of the She-Hulk Disney Plus show?
One of the very very first FIRST SUPERHEROES,created by the LEGENDARY STAN LEE himself. The DESTROYER. 💀
Isn’t he Stan lees first hero?
I think that was Jack Frost
and this is why a Love and Hate this videos, with the exception of union jack and citizen V, there are no Marvel Legends Figures to represent such amazing characters
I really wish Marvel would do an updated version of those WWII stories. We need more Nazi punching in the world of comics.
The maga crowd would be outraged by negative depictions of the Nazis. Remember how insanely angry they became over the game Castle Wolfenstein?
@numinous123 You got that backwards. It would be the Cancel Pigs like your self, getting all salty that the images and what not are being displayed.
What do you think is the best thing about these three Destroyers? Which one of their powers and abilities do you think is the best?
roger aubrey. very interesting character. somebody you could make a movie about even if he wasn't a superhero.
Fun fact, this is the first super hero stan lee created for Marvel
Always though that if they retconned him as a Skrull, readers wpuld think it fits.
How much of this origin story makes sense it feels convoluted to understand the whole thing?
What was up with Union Jack and Citizen V in this video? Who's the best one to take on those mantles? Since we got Baron Zemo in the MCU, Do you think we will see them as well?
Union Jack should appear in the MCU since we already got Sonya Falseworth during the Secret Invasion Disney Plus show
Destroyer i saw free every prisoner
Man. At her good one
shout out kirkman for pmo to this guy.
where does the inner circle destroyer come in
Nope, I saw destroyer in Spider-Man Animated series back in the day
Not as forgotten as you said
Keen MER-LOW???!?!?
What's the Destroyer like compared to the Punisher since these three have skull symbols in their outfits just like him?
nothing?
586th like!👍
Awesome video!🤘
Keep up the awesome work!🤘😎🤘
This was sweet 🎂
Crazy...😵💫
How many Marvel characters are there with the name Destroyer like Drax the Destroyer and the Asgardian Destroyer? What makes these three better than them?
Wow I was here within 33 seconds XD
This is weird. When i first glanced at the thumbnail i thought this was going to be about Drax in some way. I swear ive seen art of Drax with that skull and striped pants but clearly there is no connection story wise. I looked online but can't find any art where drax has striped pants. I must be misremembering what i saw.
You wanna talk about forgotten Heroes look up man named Thomas Halloway from timely comics
The Angel. He's not forgotten either. His story is almost as complex too.

No.
It's the Mighty Destroyer.
Im disappointed to see they ruined union jacks backstory.
Are you going to do history of Ironheart, M'Baku, Namora, Attuma and Shuri as the Black Panther since they played a major role in the Black Panther Wakanda Forever movie?
MERVEL? Where is that pronunciation from? Its pretty distracting lol.
Didn't Sharon Carter take up "The Destroyer" mantle?
Yes she did. It was near the end of the previous Captain America run (at the time of writing this comment) It was a touching tribute to the hero.
Who the IronCross??? 😮
This is.. 🤔 Complicated isn't it?
Your telling me, that Marvel actually had a gay couple, with actual good representation, and Disney still messes the mcu up?!
Wait! Who’s the Blazing Skull? Is that an earlier Ghost Rider? And does the Destroyer have any relation to Drax the Destroyer? They look relatively similar in some styles. I’ve never heard of Citizen V. There’s also a man with mongoose blood?! Who is that?! I need more videos explaining all of them!
While I can't explain everything I can explain Blazing Skull as I learned quite a bit about him while learning about ghost rider-
Blazing skull was a golden age superhero who had the power to make his head a flaming skull, ghost rider meanwhile was created years later completely independently of the original hero, he is a spirit of vengeance a power which turns his head into a flaming skull, lots of people couldn't help but notice similarities between the two heroes (both have flaming skull heads and blazing skull occasionally rode a motorcycle) after some consideration marvel decided to officially retcon blazing skull as the previous spirit of vengeance before Johnny blaze (the ghost rider we're probably introduced to)
Hope that makes sense I tried to abridge it a little
@@seaslimeshanties4546 thank you so much! That does help
💙🔥💀🔥💙
I'm actually re-reading a lot of these old stories because I'm sick of these modern woke stories that comics and the entertainment industry is pushing out.
:)
It was a belief that these or one of them was related to Drax The Destroyer they have identical apprentices and though Drax isn't earthbound his human origins are slightly similar and here's the connection is his human origin connected to one of as I recall Moondragon met Spitfire and released a connection, but connections aren't always relatable?
There is something else about Destroyer it also looks similar to Mr Sinister is there a family connection with him?
And there's another comic book character called Destructore? And what of a DC character also has a similar story and looks his origins were verbal to a god-like creation and used different names along the way?
One other strange thing in his origins you forgot to mention the vampire link to Union Jack ( Destroyer acr) and the other is Jack The Ripper tie in Marvel history a theory is his great great father was connected to that case. The original Destroyer that is? Spitfire tale is far from finished she will forage a legacy with connection to many heroes across the marvel universe including a herald of Galactus, Nova who is family to her. And isn't there a future Spitfire in the 35 century who is a descendant of the original? The name Destroyer is connected to Asgardian lore and the family of this story are thought to hail from Asgardian and Arthurian mythology?
your overactive imagination is really tiresome.
The most convoluted hero origin ever,
Sheesh.
oh, boo hoo.

Thank you for doing this but the part I hate is the fact that they have to mention this character is gay . It doesn’t sell books . Why can’t we just have our heroes punching the villain? Leave the life stories out and go back to what comics were .
you'll live. and we can have both.
So which modern writer retconned them into a gay relationship?
they were always gay.
