    Hello, these look good and I have ordered a set but i just realised while watching the video again that i have my rail in the last line of holes which means my new rail dogs would sit in front of the fence?
    So this obviously wouldn't work so i would have to pull my fence forward one row to place the rail dog behind it and this would reduce my width of cut? Would i be right or am i missing something, as i haven't got them yet, i havebeenusing a Peter Millard design rail hinge up to now....just thinking things through 🤔🤔🤔

    Terrific idea! I lose cross cut capacity because the clips (UJK or Stanton ) get in the way, especially when using your fence. Also I have the battery Festool and I have watch the battery does not hit the dog. With your new product they are comfortably out the way! Just bought some! One question what is the thickest stock that can be cut? And do you plan producing longer to cut very thick stock?

    An appealing improvement for sure but 1) in case you haven't done so already I would offer the owners of MK1s a generous discount to upgrade to MK2 - a gesture of goodwill for their trust in Benchdog Tools that will pay back in many ways and but 2) since we are talking about improvements: you need to find a way to improvement your shipping times currently lagging behind everyone else. I can get a ruler from the US to the UK quicker than from you in Somerset to a neighbouring county... take your time but as soon as you can make this aspect better eg faster. Thank you for once again showcasing your gear

    • @Benchdogtools
      @Benchdogtools  Месяц назад +2

      Thanks for your feedback back but discounting something that takes time and money to make a product better, not to fix but to listen and understand that improvements can be made. Tooling for the job, if you see a product that has been released you’ll be surprised how much R&D goes into it. When you buy a car or van would you expect a heavy discount because you bought one previously? We try to keep our price reasonable in the current climate.
      As for our shipping time they are quite good unless you bought in the sale then we always say that shipping time can be longer due to the amount of order we have to put together. If you have seen our videos on instagram then you can see not all products are sat waiting in a box to have a label put on them. And some order has 10 plus items on the order. But if you like to reach out with your order number I can look into why it has taken longer for your order.

      The MK1 version is taller so can be used to cut thicker stock and so some people will want it as well as the new version. The Mk1 also does not require chamfered holes. They are not the same product, the MK2 is better for sheet goods but can not do all that a Mk1 can.

    I have the mk1 style from UJK and I hate it with a passion, it always gets stuck at the worst possible time, or worst yet, when just slightly tilting my rail to remove the workpiece and I put the rail down it sometimes sits proud of the workpiece, giving blowout on the top, and not cutting in the bottom.... I've ordered these MK2 raildogs, here's to hoping 🤞

    Ralph did you block me from commenting about the diamond shape dog/pin???? Because I cannot reply to your comment.
    That's not how a diamond pin works mate....the shape is a lead to a full diameter, this case 20mm. All you need to do is take one of your MK1 dogs and make diamond shape, leave a full round land, whatever 5mm, it doesn't matter it just needs to locate in the perf. That reduces the friction on one hole thus eliminating the canter leverage of trying to remove two perfectly sized dogs. You only need a handful of millimeters of protrusion into the perf top....all it's doing is locating, the full round dog does the rest. Then upon removal, once the full round portion of the diamond shape is out of the hole removing the guide rail is easy.

I'd be happy to explain in great detail the form, fit and function of diamond pins in the design of jigs and fixtures. Hop on a Zoom if you'd like. You've reduced the friction mate, you haven't eliminated it. As you may know there's what's called a diamond pin in the machine tool industry. Have you considered making one pin diamond shaped? That would eliminate all this nonsense. I'm not convinced this is the best solution Ralph.....

    • @benchdogs-tools
      @benchdogs-tools 22 дня назад

      How can you tighten the dog up if the shape is not round without turning the guide dog in the hole, which would then lose accuracy with the consistent rotation of the dog in the hole? The theory of the shape would not work in this situation.
