      I’m thinking of buying this one because I have never owned a gameboy advance despite it having some games I love and would like to mod the one I’m getting to be nice but I both don’t have a soldering iron and even if I went and got one I have never used one before. Would you say having to use the touchpads is something I should worry about because while using the buttons sounds better it is expensive to buy and get shipped over to au and I don’t know if it’s worth risking ruining it just for that.

    After reviewing all the available options and watching your videos (and generally doing hours of research online), I've decided to get this kit. I think I'm lucky to have an original GBA that's barely been used. I think it used to be my cousin's or something but he never used it and it's been sitting in a box in a closet for 20 years. I still have my SP but I feel like it's too small for my adult hands so I much prefer the original GBA shell.
    Hopefully it goes well.

    I’m confused about one thing. Hispeedido is pointing out you should cut the low vertical line of plastic on the right side from the window hole (it’s right when looking from inside). I noticed you are not doing that and still have perfect fit (at least from what I can see in the vid). Is the display sitting well? No gap? Happy there is a solution for us who like to use OEM shells. Anyways, great video as always, “solderless friends” joke made my day.

    Hey man, great video as always. I had a pretty important question before I begin to mod my GBA. Despite your very informative and clear video on GBA shell compatibility with different IPS kits, I still find myself a bit confused on what I should do with this conundrum. So, I wanted to use an IPS Ready Upgraded eXtremeRate shell for my build, but from what I understand, the laminated version of this kit would not work with the shell I listed above unless I trim correct? But it is technically possible if I choose to trim right? Because I saw your video on your other channel where you installed the same kit on an IPS ready shell after some (intense and butt clenching) trimming. Is that shell different from the eXtremeRate one I want to get? Or would the trimming not even be possible? Also, would it just be better in general to use the drop in kit like in this video regardless? Would this kit also need trimming? Sorry for the complex question. Basically, in summation, would I be better off using the drop in kit vs. the laminated one? And would trimming the shell I want to use, still be a viable option? Thanks a lot man. I love your videos, and was able to confidently install an IPS kit on my Jap Pokemon Center GBC a while back using your videos as a guide!

    • @readybear64
      @readybear64 Месяц назад

      Only original shells or aftermarket versions of oem shells work. Anything labeled as “IPs ready” will not fit, although you can technically use an IPs ready shell for this, I think it would save you tons of time and effort and instead just use a oem shell or oem repro

    Thanks for the video, it was helpful! It would be nice if you also showed the installation of touchpads, I used the same hispeedido drop-in kit but the spot at the bottom-left corner of the screen is not actually usable (at least in my case the wire was too short).

    • @cbartal
      @cbartal 5 месяцев назад

      I installed the laminated Hispeedido v5, soldered the L and R buttons, and installed the touchpads. I had to move the touchpads to the bottom of the screen. I opened the display's metal case, ran my wire through the case, covered it with capton tape, and cut a small opening in the metal so the wire would reach. That was not really my first choice, but I kept bumping the touchpads when I was playing it. I bought some AWG30 wire to use on my next kit for just that reason.
