Luke - you have such a wonderful sense of humor...Love watching you all...Very glad the pool is being taken care also by your fantastic renovation specialists...Incredibly funny also by the way....
Best of luck to Ben in your new role at Mapperton. I hope you enjoy it and effect great changes to the benefit of the estate and local flora and fauna.
I love to swim. I love very large houses. I love the English people. I love the humor. I love the baking/cooking ideas. Both of you are wonderful. I watch videos before I go to bed and it makes me forget about anything bad or anything negative that happened during the day and I can just simply enjoy being in your world. Thank you so much. And I hope I can take a swim in this pool sometime. It’s on my bucket list. 🙏
Andy is too funny! Love him.Hilarious interaction with Luke! That's right Andy.Put the aristocrats to work! I have never seen concrete poured and applied in such wet conditions- but I suppose in England,it would never be poured if waiting for a sunny day in March Ha Ha! What is to stop all those frogs from hopping back into the swimming pool? There are hundreds of them.
Oh my gosh all those frogs. I’m sure they will love the new pool. I’m not sure Julie will love so many when she swims with them. I hope the new Ranger will have help cleaning the woods. That looks like a lot of work.
I can’t wait to see the progress on the pool! It’s so wonderful that you are going to restore the ecosystem in the woods! Keep us posted on that project too. So nice to be able to see England’s heritage from here in the states!
Andy, Mr. No Guarantee Luke, Frog Relocator Ben, Wildlands Conservationer Julie, MIA Earl of Sandwich, Decision Maker Countess of Sandwich, Boss Lady Luke & Julie (in all seriousness), you both have your hands full. You are making 'conservation' changes to your family's estate which will ensure new habitat for wildlife, plants...and frogs! I love that you get your hands dirty. Keeping these estate homes is always a work in progress and I am glad you have allowed your viewers to come along to see what it takes to maintain these wonderful country estates. Cheers!
Thank you. I will always "like" and "comment". This is ALL I can afford to do. I DO have 4,000+ friends on Facebook and I hope some of my friends become addicted to Mapperton as well.
Hi Guys, I’ve worked with water retaining structures in the water supply industry for 15 years. . . Not sure what products you are using but Sika products are the only product that work for us. Cracks should be filled with a cement and Sika4a mix and then painted over with another sika product called Sikagard 63N. This option allows you to apply to cracks that are already wet....Alternatively another two compound product can be used to seal cracks called Sikadur-31..... surface has to be dry using this product.
I was wondering about the surface being so wet. For any cement or concrete projects I am aware of the surface needs to be dry and also the weather needs to be dry. We live in south Texas where the humidity tends to be very high so that also affects the process. Seeing how wet things are as you are doing this makes me very nervous about how well this will last. Pardon my ignorance on this subject, I'm sure things are done differently there and hopefully these repairs will last a long time!
I just watched a lot of your episodes and today I took on the wildlife and safari ones with your son. I couldn't leave a comment there so I came here to the latest episode, because I just wanted to tell you how you all brightend up my day! I love your plans of rewilding parts of Mapperton and I love the people you found to team up with. But I am most impressed by your son: What a nice, eloquent, passionate and intelligent young man he is! And so good to see parents providing opportunities and giving space to develop. It was really uplifing to watch him being so happy and excited about the bats and their sounds. I hope he follows his passion for nature in one way or other.
Great to see Andy and his crew! Louis,Gus,Alec and Lee,great team! Well done rescuing the frogs! Wonderful to meet Ben!! Look forward to seeing more have him and learn what he's doing. "The Meaning of Life",is one of my favorite movies! I would never have thought to put it in a tree. Love from Vermont
Hello from Washington State in the USA. So glad you are finally able to start the pool restore. That amazing house and property are such a huge responsibility. I would love it if at some point you were able to put some of those bio plant float filters in to filter the water but that would cost thousands of dollars more. Such an incredible garden. I hope some day to see it in person.
Hello from South Africa 🇿🇦 I’m glad the pool renovation has started - I’m sure Andy’s workmanship will last a good couple of hundred years! 😉 And thank you for saving all those adorable frogs Luke (and Andy’s team) Welcome Ben!! I’m sure you’ll become a natural in front of the camera in no time - I’m looking forward to seeing all the wonderful changes you’ll bring to Mapperton.
Can you hear the frogs from any of the dwellings? There is a storyline in Poldark about the frogs being removed due to the sound... and then 'replaced' to annoy the new resident. I thought that was very clever, but have no idea of how loud or how long frog serenades are. What amazing projects going on at Mapperton! Definitely want to hear more on the rewilding!
Nothing worse than a snapped pool! The frogs are a bonus! You’ve never heard of deep fried frog legs? The pool will be stunning when it’s back to its former glory. Well done. Restoration is a blessing.
Welcome Ben 😊 Also we are having the same issue regarding frogs in our pond near our visitor centre at work. We are collecting them up and transferring them into another pond we have in our county park. We are going to have to dredge, drain and replace the lining of this pond as it’s leaking.
Joy, joy! Happy natural pool & no more large scale pheasant shootings. How many pheasants live at Mapperton now? Wow 30, 40 acres pen. Rewilding BRILLIANT, Incredible. always miss Julie but how wonderful she is in Africa. Wonderful job Luke!
so so so many frogs!! I would be so excited! I grew up on a waterway and over the course of 17 years, I watched the amphibious population almost completely disappear.. it broke my heart.. YOU GUYS ARE VERY LUCKY to have such a healthy little frog population
I want to see the first day of detritus collection from the wood enclosure, more of the etc. than the fence windup but that would be great too. Just watching the huge pile of rusty wire, feeders, racks, skids, trash and DVDs grow would be interesting and satisfying! You could get it done quickly by inviting the community, giving lunch to “scavengers”, and prizes for biggest item, strangest item, most collected, etc! Imagine how quickly 40 acres could be cleared for little cost and lots of neighborly good will and a day of fun!
I'm so thrilled to have found your videos yesterday. I've been binge watching since. 😅 you people make me smile and are actually bringing some light and laughter to my life. thanks ever so much! 😊
Love Andy!!! He should be a Pool Repair Star!I have been waiting to enjoy the pool repair. Can you clean and cover the blackened areas of the old leaks on the pool walls? The natural pool sounds like a better choice.
I enjoy watching all of these videos!! I’m wondering if you might be able to do a video on the following: a day in the life of a servant at the height of an estate/country house such as Mapperton AND a day in the life of a member of the family that own the estate. Would love a video on that, cheers!
When I used to work at my local public library, a co-worker would take old, scratched up DVDs and CDs to hang in their barn to deter birds from building nests.
Thank you for a really interesting and informative 'walk around' the estate. Looking forward to the evolution of the pool! It is so good to see that nature is getting restored
Somehow I would be afraid that the frogs would eventually make their way from the other pool back to the new pool that is currently being repaired. 😂😂 Hopefully that won't happen! ❤
We used to use underwater Pratleys putty in gunnite pools with cracks in SA. We used to hammer cracks open as far as they would open with steel nails then pipe in polyurethane into the back then fill and seal with 2 part underwater Pratleys ! NASA used this South African product on the Apollo 11 in emergency fixes, waterproof and fireproof, as good as steel
You have an excellent personality and a great sense so of humor-- I laughed out loud, more than once! LOVE Julie, but great job Mister and Team! And thank you so much for saving the frogs. Not keen on the hunt but, but such is life in different parts of the world, I suppose. HELLO from. NEW JERSEY, USA❣ I can see why you and Julie love each other so much, and get along so well 🙃
So many things on the drawing board and some already started. Exiting seeing the pool coming along and hopefully Julie will be pleasantly surprised. Best of luck
The pool looks to have a gradual slope down to the drain. It looks like the concrete reinforcement is going to create a small dam across the pool. How is the water behind the reinforcement now going to drain. If funds weren't available to jack hammer and replace the whole bottom or possibly just the cracked section, maybe a fitted liner would have been a better solution. I think your supporters have thrown there money into the proverbial hole. Ben will make a lovely addition to your team at Mapperton and he will definitely need to get him a pair of those superb boots that your team wears.
I have a farm collie who's family looks after the lambs, kids and chickens. As a pup, his mother taught them to raise the alarm and chase off predators. So I bring this 12 week old pup to Florida, and we were out in the sunshine when a Great Blue Heron landed on the roof of a nearby house. He started bellowing in his most vicious puppy voice Holy cow, Cyn, that bird is bigger than you! Run inside! And thus began his training about heel and hush.
Luke has mastered this channel as its main host I see all smooth, delightfully pleasantt and witty as mch as entertaining and educational as well. Well done!
Julie I hope the frogs don’t jump ship and join you in your first swim.😂 It will be fun to see you swimming in the pool after all the work Luke and the crew are doing. Thanks Luke and everyone at Mapperton for a lovely vlog. Good luck Ben on your new job.👏🏻
Andy…” I don’t like toads” Response..”their frogs”. Me..”there’s a difference? “ Yuck, and there is no way I would get in that pool with just one frog. I get chills just thinking about all those frogs. I love the fact you are getting rid of the pheasant “things” the woods are going to look beautiful.
There's a product called Flex Seal sold in the US that seals all kinds of things, even under water. Julie can probably locate it and maybe that would help. It's easier to use than all that cement mixing....worth a try.
Delightful to see nature being protected and encouraged.
Hopefully no fox hunting, bagger culling and protecting your hedgehogs.
Good of you to relocate the lovely frogs!
Luke - you have such a wonderful sense of humor...Love watching you all...Very glad the pool is being taken care also by your fantastic renovation specialists...Incredibly funny also by the way....
Oh my goodness thats a LOT of frogs! Thankyou Luke and Julie for sharing.
Best of luck to Ben in your new role at Mapperton. I hope you enjoy it and effect great changes to the benefit of the estate and local flora and fauna.
Can’t wait to see Julie’s first swim🐸
I love to swim. I love very large houses. I love the English people. I love the humor. I love the baking/cooking ideas.

I think they move out once they have left the spawn.
So glad to see that your addressing the wildlife and helping preserve what you have.
Just have to laugh when Luke gives the frogs advice to go & explore!😆
Thank you for these entertaining and informative videos!
GREAT place for a treehouse!
I can’t wait to see the progress on the pool! It’s so wonderful that you are going to restore the ecosystem in the woods! Keep us posted on that project too. So nice to be able to see England’s heritage from here in the states!
Thank you so much!!!
Builder’s bottom!! A great British tradition ...... splendid pixelation...
Glad to hear that there no longer be shooting of pheasants on Mapperton!!!
Best wishes Ben in your new position. Can’t wait for watching “The Adventures of Ben in Pheasant Woods”

I got my shoes on again and I’m ready to go. Just waiting on the rest of you. Here we go…road trip!
Thank you Luke, this is a fun video to watch! The pool, frogs and land restoration. Lovely‼️

The frogs on the bottom will be crushed by the weight of the ones on top. Thank you for rescuing them though.

I like the little 'Pheasant Shake' dance.
I am emotionally invested in the restoration of this pool

Luke rescues frogs at Mapperton!!!
A man with integrity, like Andy, doesn't overpromise. :-) A wonder why the Countess told him off.
So looking forward to seeing it finished and your first swim ! 🏊♀️
Nothing worse than a snapped pool! The frogs are a bonus! You’ve never heard of deep fried frog legs? The pool will be stunning when it’s back to its former glory. Well done. Restoration is a blessing.
Welcome to Ben! Grand project.
I love frogs!!! Where I live in the US we don’t have many. I was so jealous watching you get to handle all those frogs!
You are such a beautiful family! Britain can be proud of you and the way you manage the challenge of the maintenance of Mapperton!
Thank you so much!

Loving all the pool videos! I can't wait to see it when it's done!
What a much needed theory of nature returned with responsible eco friendly visiting. ❤️
Would love to hear more about how the pool works (filters etc?) any vintage features? How it was used back in the day etc.
More episodes like this please. I am very interested in all the rewilding projects
Very interesting episode, thank you. Lots of forward movement. All very exciting. Lucky Julie enjoying Africa.

Great suggestion!
@@MappertonLive there is alot to do with theses pools and there fracture s
That was really interesting! I look forward to seeing the changes!

I don't think I've ever seen so many frogs in just one corner of a natural pool! Cleaning up the Home Wood looks like a fantastic challenge!
Love to see progress on the pool! This is obviously a very big project. Will wait to see what’s next!
Thanks fo another great vlog
I think you make a great frog advisor 🤣
When the concrete is dry, you should put a membrane with a resin to seal and waterproof the slab and walls
of the “natural” pool.
Thank you for a really interesting and informative 'walk around' the estate. Looking forward to the evolution of the pool! It is so good to see that nature is getting restored
Wonderful plans, bravo! Don't forget a rainwater catch. 😁😉
I Love You Guys!)))
Thank You for sharing your lives n Mapperton with us.)))
Jacqueline
Great video Luke!!
It is very exciting what you are doing at Mapperton in terms of returning it to a more natural state. Best of luck.
Somehow I would be afraid that the frogs would eventually make their way from the other pool back to the new pool that is currently being repaired. 😂😂 Hopefully that won't happen! ❤
Luke, look up bush craft shelters. Some of them are absolutely astounding.

Clearly a family project! It is so exciting to see the process!!! If I ever visited England the pool of Mapperton would be first to visit!!!
Happy about the pool and frog sorting out brilliantly. But, not happy about the "shoots" of the pheasants ...
Welcome Ben to the Mapperton team!! 🐸
good luck
on the renovation!
looks spectacular!
sending luv from NYC
So many things on the drawing board and some already started.
Exiting seeing the pool coming along and hopefully Julie will be pleasantly surprised. Best of luck
Good job Luke!
Truly amazing
The proper rate for when a client helps is double.
The woods project is very exciting! I especially loved the beautiful bird song. 😊
I love this show. Always so fun to watch.
Excited to watch this process, thank u for including us in this!
Brilliant!! You mentioned Monty Python...to funny!!! Interesting about coppicing, I've seen it done but didnt know the term, thanks for that!
Welcome Ben! Mapperton is extraordinary. I love the sustainability and pheasants, what a new legacy.
so sweet of Luke to rescue the frogs!!
Great to seeheadway being made on the pool

As an American Animal lover I cannot thank you enough for eliminating the cruelty of raising to kill pheasants. 🙏🥰

Oh Julie, I couldn't believe Luke poured that bucket of frogs into the pool where you're going to swim. Gives me the wiilys.
I Love watching ❤
Can’t wait the cabin idea is great, great stewardship of this estate .. well done .
Congratulations Ben on your new role it sound exciting and fun.
Luke, I love your sense of humor!
The only pool in the world with a speed bump!!! Now you need a speed limit sign for Julie😂😂😂😂
😂
Such a good video, great progress! You should put the links to patreon ect in the description below the video, for easier access!
Thank you! Will do!
