I really hope it's not lost on guys like you and Joe Tillman that you're actually saving lives out here. But for people like you online, my hair loss would have taken me to a very dark place.
Melvin, yet again one hell of an informative video for those having to resort to using beard hair to supplement weak scalp donor availability, think it could be useful to highlight the risks of taking beard grafts from above the jaw line vs below and potential graft counts available for limited/normal/extended beard donors
Great video Melvin and something people need to understand before embarking upon a hybrid scalp/beard hair transplant. The surgeon’s experience and artistry is number one if you are a candidate for this option. Watching dozens of Eugenix videos is what convinced me to use 4,000 beard grafts in my recent surgery with Dr Sethi. Doing your homework is never more paramount than it is in this area. Thanks for sharing!

@@benchabanehocine7809 I actually underwent my surgery over six days at Eugenix. My transplant was both to address my baldness but also to repair some scars and bad work from many years ago.
My beard hair is very thick and the beard grafts on my scalp stand up sometime looking odd. The solution I found is to get keratin hair straightening done once every 3 months or so. After the treatment the contrast between beard grafts and scalp grafts is very minimal. I strongly believe that a lot of beard grafts could be used, provided the patient gets hair straightening done periodically. Perhaps few patients that had a lot beard grafts could try this method.
Extremely informative thanks Melvin. It’s awesome to see that BHT if executed correctly can give guys another life line. -How many grafts would you say the average beard can provide?
The Hair Transplant Network anagen growth phase for beard follicles 🤔 I'm confused mate. Actually I think beard grafts go through an indefinite growth phase since I never noticed any hair falling from my beard, or stopped gowning for a while 🤔
No, they definitely shed, it’s just not noticeable because most guys trim and shave. On average beard hair can grow up to a foot, while scalp hair much longer, that’s because the growth phase is different. That said, for most of us who wear our hair medium length its a non-issue.
Somehow I think beard hairs have a longer anagen phase than 1 to 1 1/2 years. Look at these long bearded men like ZZ Top, no way that was grown in 1 1/2 years. Also the 80% only beard graft survival rate is another likely fallacy. A possible reason for the lower survival rate is that the beard grafts aren't extracted as scalp hairs are, so the lack of skill in dealing with removing these grafts could be the reason for the lower survival rate? What do you think?
i had 9200 hair transplanted from beard 3000, back and sides 5000 and 1000 from the pubs..i was a norwood 7-8..now norwood 1..hair will definitely be curly but id rather have hair than no hair at all..as for the frizzyness and curlyness, u just gotta get a keratin hair straightening treatment..im 6months post op and im very very happy with my result..dont listen to those who say pubs hair is bad..even my hair stylist thinks all the curly ones are beard hair..pubs hair are transplanted on the back of my head so no one would notice..choose the right hospital and ull get great result..had mine done in Inda for less than USD2.5k..would cost 5-6 times more(the cheapest) in my home country malaysia for the same amt of graphs..
I had about 1000 beard grafts out of 4000 in total. Good to know that you are getting keratin treatment done as well to manage the unruly hair. I have been doing that for the past 4 yrs or so. The only problem is after the treatment the hair volume comes down a lot and takes at least a month or so to get the volume back. Hoping to find a keratin treatment that does not impact the hair volume much.
Melvin when you was going through security/Terminal did you have a Hat on? and if so did you have to take the hat off before going through the security line? i am about to go to Eugenix for my Hair Transplant and i just want to be prepare. I had my surgical cap on for a little while, but eventually removed it. When I got back to California, the TSA asked if I went to Turkey, he was intrigued by the hair transplant. I’m gonna create a video on everything you need to know to travel for an HT. Stay tuned.
Isn't beard hair thicker? Hence, you don't need as many beard hairs to get the illusion of density as compared to more thin hair. Does that offset the lower growth rate of beard hair?
Though beard hairs are thicker than scalp hair, almost all beard grafts are single hair grafts. So, you actually need more to create the illusion. Furthermore, beard hairs have the nature to sway away from each other whereas scalp hairs tend to fall on each other closing the gaps.
That’s true, most beard hairs are single hairs. The volume does make a difference, particularly, if you’re someone with fine hair. One of my beard hairs is equal to 2-3 fine hairs by volume. But yes, that’s one thing to consider.
Melvin, is the reason your pre existing hairs are sticking up like that because your pre transplanted hairs were implanting in wrong directions or is it naturally that way? ps. the beard is looking untouchable!
No, it’s actually the hair that hasn’t shed. My hairline surgery was quite good. Unfortunately, I’m in the ugly duckling phase, some hair is shocked, some hair hasn’t shed.
There are some doctors that will initially use both scalp & beard hair, but I think usually when the patient is about a Norwood 5 or so.. U can research this 💩 to death & still be more confused.. 🥺.. A lot of these top doctors 🥼 don’t even respond nor take on new patients… Do U have your own list of the top 🔝 5 doctors to consider ? You could have spent 10 percent (of what you did spend)) on QHT Hardawar Headquarters. and better results. 5000 grafts 3000 dollars. And your assumption on beard is wrong. Matter of the fact Beard hair grows faster and thicker. I did.

oncall21 4000 beard grafts in one session? That's a big number. you must have a very full beard to extract that amount...
