      Hey Karl, just FYI I asked a German retailer about this. They said "The actuator can mechanically move 125mm, but for safety reasons, it's limited to 100mm. It's a somewhat awkward wording from the manufacturer."
      However, no matter how much it ends up being during racing, as long as you say it feels cool, I am saving my money for this :D

    Fantastic and timely review. Had been thinking about a motion system, but even if you can afford it, it's still expensive so I chose to go slowly knowing I would eventually hit the button (as I always do when it comes to simracing). This product changes everything. Was seriously looking super-hard at a D-Box system with much, much lower specs (not the one in the video), and a much higher price. So this changes everything. Prices really need to come down significantly in this area or some companies are going to have a really hard time with anyone but their commercial customers.

    I've about a month in my SFX-100, seems like this is pretty much analogous. I think they are probably both great choices at this price point.
    I looked at the paper performance of things like the D-Box and I was worried the SFX-100 wouldn't feel fast enough, but having driven it in all sorts of cars I'm really happy with it and I have a decently substantial haptic setup that fills in gaps for ABS, TCS, road vibration, engine vibration & all the finer detail stuff. Together it blew my mind, but the journey never ends and I'm looking at adding G-Seat as a solution for Surge & Lateral-G Sway.

  • @GUN69_
    @GUN69_ 10 месяцев назад +1

    thanks Karl, I found this review very insightful. Also the comments section adds extra details - which I personally found as an awesome help. Myself, I am planning to buy the motion system. I expect that many people are like me where all of the options are either expensive, very expensive or ridiculously expensive. Therefore, each review is a gold mine of information. Personally, I found it shocking that anyone in the PT sat down in the room and gave thumbs up for glue solution being used as the solution for the "sale ready" product and kudos to Ben then for reaching out to PT and escalating it.
    Karl - in one of your comments you mentioned that PT Champion GT has the same specs as eracing Labs Mega+. Speed wise that is true 250m/s but the travel of the actuator is different in that case PT 125mm vs 150mm eracing labs or am I missing something?

    • @KarlGosling
      @KarlGosling  10 месяцев назад +1

      Mega+ is 150mm mate yes, the difference going from 125mm to 150mm is not that noticeable in use (it's a small increase really), but going from say 38mm (D-Box) to 125mm is huge at almost four times the travel so the Mega+ is close enough for a price comparison.

    Hey Karl!! You can use a second Champion GT kit, obviously with actuators fitted for TL and Surge mechanically, but it will show up in SRS as a single controller with 8 actuators!!! So yes, there is upgrade path... 😉
    I already talked with Bob for this possibility. I guess he must have gotten confused on the options for expandability, as his current lowrider comes setup with the classic AMC-AASD15A Thanos controller.

    Looks good, maybe £1000 more than an rsmega+ though after shipping and taxes. But race@home having quicker delivery, and it's nice to be able to speak to someone close if there are any problems definitely is a reason as to why its something I'm looking into. One thing I noticed though was the race@home website states 100mm travel in the initial description, but then says +125mm, as seen on the spec sheet shown in Karl's video. I'd like some clarification if poss. Either way I want one.

    Hey @KarlGosling, I just got delivery of my Champion GT. I'm beein in touch with Shao trying to troubleshoot a strange noise I have, and I was wondering if you had the same. It's a radio static noise, like when you're in the car and you set your radio to a frequency where there's no radio channel, so it just buzzes. It comes from every actuator and is not constant. Did you notice something similar? It's unmissable if you had it. Thanks!

    Seems to be some confusion over the actual size of these actuators. Obv mentioned in the comments already that the R@Home site says 100mm and 125mm.....but so does PT-Actuators own website too. I saw another video that seemed to show a model number with 100 in the number, which would imply 100 to me, in the specs it also says +/-125mm - if it was + and - then wouldn't that be 250mm travel?

      I own the sr1 and use 60% of the travel. For me its enough. Plus as I said the app and customer care is amazing. Also I will never spent this kind of money with someone that he thinks he is Mr knows it all. Seen many comments from you bob laughing at others motion system. I remember a comment that left for a guy that had the balls to do a diy 2dof shocked me.

    • @KarlGosling
      @KarlGosling  10 месяцев назад +1

      The biggest problem with the SR1 is it's weight limit of 175kg, that literally puts me and my Prime Lite at it's max, anyone heavier than me and it's a no go... The SR2 can handle an extra 50kg which is much better.
      70mm of travel and 100mm/s response time is a little low and slow for most IMO.
      But as the SR2 is the same price as this PT kit it makes no sense to buy one when you can have a limit of 300kg, 125mm of travel and 250mm/s response.

    • @abbeyparker
      @abbeyparker 10 месяцев назад

      yes but I weight 80kg and have plenty of stuff on my rig and still have no issues. The price of 3k if you are willing to do some scarifies like I did and loose some weight its the most affordable motion system around. Again I cant stress enough the amazing software they have which is constantly being updated. @@KarlGosling

    If you mostly circuit race then then $7300 Gen 5 D-Box is the way to go. 1.5" of travel is more than enough for circuit racing. D-Box also has a vibration function which none of these others have. You really need to feel it. It's like adding transducers to your motion system but better. However this PT Actuator system does look like a great deal for the price though. I'd say if you can afford to upgrade to the Gen 5 D-Box it's worth it. If not this looks great.

    • @joeyg369
      @joeyg369 10 месяцев назад +1

      For vibration, couldn't you just add 4 corner transducers for a lot less than the cost increase of going to the dbox?

    • @raceathome
      @raceathome 10 месяцев назад

      These actuators deliver incredibly accurate haptic feedback (vibration) and terrain mapping. It's impossible to simulate terrain such as Brands Hatch, Mount Panorama (Bathurst), Mount Washington or Spa unless your cockpit follows the terrain which is not possible with small actuators.

      The PT actuators themselves are better built than the sfx stuff. Also, the only have one control box and all plug and play. Not need for a separate cabinet with multiple controllers, etc.

    • @KarlGosling
      @KarlGosling  10 месяцев назад +1

      I find VR works better without MC... Your head wobbling around inside the car is exactly what happens IRL, so unless your motion system is moving you a few feet instead of inches there's no need IME.

    • @Anonnymouse53
      @Anonnymouse53 10 месяцев назад

      @@KarlGosling My platform has 110mm of movement & under hard braking or G-Sway will use most of it. If I don't motion compensate I'll clip through the seat/panels. Then there is the slow return to center that causes you to drift even whilst there are no motion cues being applied which basically makes yyou feel like you are floating around. Your view still moves and wobbles with M/C, bumps, gear shifts, etc.

    Too expensive. If you want motion, go for DOF REALITY. I have a H3 model and it only costs 2.5k with traction loss and a full frame. All you need is a seat and wheelbase with pedals and you have a complete motion rig !!

    • @taxi615
      @taxi615 10 месяцев назад +1

      It's relative to where you live PT and DOF are more than Dbox for me and it's a much better kit not to mention how small dbox is. For DOF not everyone wants to buy the full rig they offer especially if you already have a full rig and just looking for 4 corner setup.

    • @KarlGosling
      @KarlGosling  10 месяцев назад +8

      DOF Is very entry level and the frame cannot handle high end wheel bases or pedals without a lot of flex... still good value but doesn't compare to a profile rig in any way.

    • @raceathome
      @raceathome 10 месяцев назад +1

    • @douglasingram8881

      No, what you have is a fixed frame that moves, I’d love to see you add, shifters, hand break, button boxes, wind sim fans. And some people like the monitor to move when their rig. You simply don’t have the ability to be able to alter your DOF like you do with a profile rig.
      But, you do have motion, which is something.
