      either way this idea is basically useless on any xbox one/ series console because i never sa one of those overheat but this whould make much more sense on a ps4/pro because i seen a lot of them with overheating issues after 1-2 years of use and i also had a ps4 pro that started overheating after 1 year, cleaned and replaced thermal pads-/paste twice and it still hadn't changed anything

      Yh I was thinking that. The cooling set up for these consoles is built to ventilate the hole console as this water cooling solution isn't built for it and likely just bolted straight onto the motherboard for aesthetic appearance. No way is it as efficient as the original design. I would pay around $100 for that console just to strip for parts 😂

  • @henriquehff
    @henriquehff 2 года назад +22

    One thing i would improve was to add a heatsink to the memory chips and put the radiator right above the opening of the original fan, the original cooling system was also refrigerating the ram, psu and other components, so if you remove the air flow from these components it will probably burn over time

  • @TokeAboutIt
    @TokeAboutIt 2 года назад +7

    I also did this to my Xbox One S. As far as the cuts not being straight it is due to the material that they use. The material melts away while using a Dremel. After it melts it welds itself back to the material making it very hard to remove and get a clean cut. Even after sanding for hours I got a similar result.

  • @user-curtisingreenville
    @user-curtisingreenville 7 месяцев назад +2

    when making those cuts via cutting tool to the case you should file the rough edges off with a file then sand the edges with a fine sandpaper to make it all smooth and a much more perfect cut. most dont.

    11:38 the Only benefit is that it runs quieter, Or should anyway. Unlike typical CPU's APU's Or Gpu's ect, consoles APU's do not "boost" the core clocks, They run at a locked "pace" so you wont gain any actual performance doing this. In fact you May actually lose some do to inadequate cooling for the memory chips and PSU. But it looks cool. I would recommend finding a way to mount the fan Under the radiator so that it is pulling air through the console and blowing through the rad. This will help get some of that airflow inside the console back that was lost by removing the original style fan. If you wanted to go a step further with this mod, you could get some of those universal tiny heat sinks and some thermal past and place them on the memory and such. You could also Dremel the case where the radiator mounts and allow the fan to breath free, increasing airflow all around (especially if you mount the fan under the rad against the case).

    I noticed that too. I have never seen a clean window cut on one of these custom consoles 😂I think people underestimate that part and just yolo it with a dremel or a jigsaw. You can make clean cuts with a dremel cutting wheel and the filing tips. You just have to mask the area up and actually measure it so you have areas marked out in pen with a straight edge that you can file upto the edges of to ensure it's as clean as possible. You will never get a clean cut just trying to yolo it in one move. You gotta measure it out and mark it correctly so you can accurately file the edges down with a hand file or a dremel attachment at a low speed. You'll also never be able to file straight edges by eye. You really need masking tape and a pen to file upto or it will just end up wobbly.

    It is not more efficient than air actually air is more efficient than liquid cooling depending on the liquid cooling device, however the way those tubes are bent and the fact of the coil is going to wine in the way that is mounted it's going to be annoying after a while

    • @P2PC
      @P2PC 2 года назад +9

      From somebody’s who’s been custom water cooling for 5 years now, you are absolutely correct. Liquid cooling is essence is not much different from air cooling, both rely on the travel of a fluid through a transport medium (Copper Heat-pipes, polymer Tubes) from a place of high heat concentration (cold plate) to a lower one (radiator).
      In the case of this Xbox, it is likely to benefit less from a liquid cooler than its stock air cooling. The thermal dissipation of the APU is not likely enough to warrant much of a difference. To add, this xbox has other internal components that rely on the incidental airflow from the stock top mounted exhaust fan of which by removing and replacing with liquid cooling will be sure to reduce the life of other temperature sensitive components such as RAM ICs, PSU and APU Voltage regulators.
      However, my argument may be made redundant depending where the radiator is mounted. The ideal place for the radiator would have been over the original fan vent on the top of the console and have the fan run in a pull mounted on the top where hot air is exhausted upwards rather than down, this would restore most of the incidental airflow needed provided the fan speed and actual airflow characteristics of the fan used is enough to make up for lost efficiency when blowing through a denser liquid radiator as appose to a less dense air cooling fin array.

    the fan is in a bad position, it has to be backwards, releasing the air outwards.

    Looks pretty cool etc. But practical side unless you live in a hotbox country not going to be beneficial don't think I have ever heard of one overheating unless it's airflow is restricted from crap placement

    3:25 "Blows the air out" The fan mounted on the radiator currently blows the air down onto the console.

    I’m guessing the liquid is some sort of mineral oil since that don’t damage the electronics. Water doesn’t damage any type of electronics it’s the minerals within the water so it makes sense to use mineral oil ?

    Hw could have used the old fan connector for the fan and used a heatsink for the vram, and lastly changed the orientation of the fan

    So this maybe just how I’m seeing it in the video but the back hose closest to the power cable looks alittle kinked or is about to be kinked which for water cooler is no good cause then u have a higher chance of burning out the water pump and all in one coolers a lot of times it a the fan that goes out or B the pump. Also for me if I was the one to do a mod like this I think I would go a different route with the cooling lines as I would shorten them and send it straight down into the console instead of the side just to keep the hose safe from being damaged also would add a drain port somewhere I myself have wanted to water cool a series s or x iv looked at different ways to do it and when I have the funds to do it I plan to start with the series and well since the Xbox series generation uses a custom ryzen chip and the series x has RDNA2 built into that custom chip I feel these new gen consoles could possibly benefit from being cooled by an all in one cooler also for anyone thinking to water cool and Xbox series x make sure you get those ram chips to don’t want those to over heat😂

    WOW... That is jank! They could have done that so much better on an electrical standpoint. The console HAS a fan... Just reuse the existing fan header, for both the pump, and the fan! Then the fan speed is "better" for the console. Or run the pump at full, and control the fan. Might be a little louder, but probably better overall.
