I know we have thought about doing a story kinda similar.. the problem with converting stories like this to cinema is that it's hard to hold audience's attention when there is no interaction or dialogue. You end up with a movie like castaway, which shows it CAN be done.. but you need a good actor, self narration, and a fair bit of action/drama to keep things interesting. The sequel, below zero, is much more suited for a movie since it has more than one character alive.. but I agree this COULD be a good movie but it'd have to be nearly all cgi and would require a good budget to do justice, plus need a great script to stay captivating the whole time.

Yeah, the crash zone was 100% different before the Aurora crash. Game Theory does a great video on how a crash like that can drastically alter the ecosystem and everything near it. Edit: My personal theory is that is probably would have been extensions of the nearby biomes. If you look at a map of the biomes nearby, there are some really small chunks adjacent to the Crash Zone.
Oh the crash zone would’ve been something similar to the Safe Shallows plus having a third island instead of just the two, but because of the size of the Aurora and her mass during impact with the seabed it pretty much turned the zone into another Dunes and obliterated what could’ve been a third island.
I feel like if the crash zone was like another safe shallows it’s possible for there to have been a third degasi base that was destroyed by the impact or even crushed by the Aurora! my question is, where did the reapers around the ships live before they swarmed the Aurora? I assume they probably lived nearby and felt the vibrations of the water so they swam toward the ship and stay there waiting for people to eat or something similar.
@@notkiersten24 More than likely they lived near the area or a good amount of them migrated from the Dunes with how loud the impact and explosion was from the ship. Man, poor Bart. He’s the one who alerted the Crabsquid to their location, and he’s the only one who survived the attack. He was the only real sane one left in the end too.
Hearing the captain say "I'm attempting a controlled desent" in the game hits different. Also Bart's last PDA is so sad, but I also feel kinda happy when I hear that he's not afraid anymore. This is a very great trailer
except that you probably wont cause death is simply the end and this goes for all biological beings its a reassuring thought though, one everyone probably thinks before he goes
Um... i think he means to became part of the ecosystem by turning into humus after death. It would make sense, considering, that he said, the others are part of the planet, not in heaven and because this character is more science focused. So death wouldn’t be the end for him in his view.
Subnautica is not just about survival and building bases it's also about exploration. I can't think of any other game that you can learn about the wildlife and the ecosystem. Because in other games, the animals and plants are just aesthetics that brings life to the game. Where as in subnautica you get the sensation that they are actually alive! This is why it's my favorite survival game.
GoombaGenocide better then a hate bandwagon. The gameplay isn't glitchy for me and this game sure doesnt have alot of content but the immersion and feeling is what makes it good, the story is really interesting and dark, the game looks amazing (imo) aswell
I know that but the ship that crashes at the beginning is neither the Aurora or the Sunbeam. It is the Degasi and we follow Bart through the entire trailer until the Aurora crashes at the very end.
Ooh yeah, kind of like Alien Covenant but instead of the conventional (and cliche) land-aliens, there would be sea-creatures. Imagine seeing a reaper leviathan ripping a couple people apart, that'd be really cool lol.
Sometimes when I need a goosebump fix I come watch this. It's so beautifully put together. It sells you on everything this game is about, and the ending is so tightly tuned together with the words and the view and the pause and the ship I just melt. I've played the game to exhaustion, and Below Zero is fantastic.
subnautica, the only scary game I can think of that actually uses terror at its core, and not cliche jumpscares edit: Holy shit so many likes! Thanks guys ❤️
Kevin511 Same, I’ve watched every single video from start to finish since the begining of Subnautica and now that Seán has the full release (early because he talks with the creators a lot) I’m keeping up with that as well, I just hope Mark is able to get it at some point
Genius of a trailer. It starts with a survivor who experiences the world as you would when you play. All down to the same beats, from admiring the initial beauty before the fear in the deep. The disease that slowly kills him and wondering if he could’ve escaped. Before showing the Aurora crashing which cuts right before the crash implying, “Time to experience that yourself.”
"What is a wave without an ocean?... What is a beginning... without an end? They are... different... but they go together. Now you go among the stars... And I collapse among the sand. We are different, but we go... Together".
Really well executed trailer, still showing what the gameplay is but also not spoiling the story by telling it from a Degassi ship crash survivor before the main events of the story. Then that timelapse at the end and then showing the Aurora crashing was genius.
Seeing the aurora descend gave me chills, it was like seeing some heavenly vessel fall and with it came the one person to fix the mistakes of the planet's former controllers
I believe it's a little more complex! I think it shows the game really well, not giving too many spoilers and grabbing your attention, but I don't see a lot of comments talking about the end crash of the Degassi ship. I feel as though the survivor finally gave in and died due to the illness, showing time passed since then, and the showing the crash of a DIFFERENT ship than the Aurora, signifiyng this planet is so far out that a new exploration ship is sent out again and again in a loop, each ship having a different amount of survivors if any, and showing that this planet is "luring" ships in over and over to set up for a Subnautica 2, 3, maybe even 4. Brilliantly done.
nah because every time they make a movie based on a game sweaty lard sacks will complain it doesnt fit the storyline 1600% and their favorite monsters werent included and would babyrage by posting bad reviews online just like they do with spinoff doom shows that arent meant to follow the actual game's tale of events
Every time I watch this trailer, I get goosebumps, everything fits together in the trailer. And seeing the aurora at the end was my favourite part mostly because in game we don't actually see how it landed on the planet we just see it on the planet.
Since the life pods can hold up to 2 people, I don't see how it would be an issue to just have another life pod land 100 or so meters away where 2 additional people could spawn. Imagine playing with 3 other people, commandeering the Cyclops while another person is in the Seamoth making recon. It would be an amazing multiplayer game.

Fun fact, they actually almost ran out of money multiple times in development, which would end both the development and the company. For the full release we must thank all the RUclipsrs, especially Jacksepticeye, who promoted the game to so many people.
This game would be much better if they didn't say the most retarded fucking thing ever. Instead of saying that this is a game that does not need guns/lasers because they want the player to be in fear and the threat constant, because you loose those with guns. They go and lie and say there's a school shooting every day in the U.S. (Lie, FBI shows that) and there would be no guns in the game as a protest against the Second Amendment and wanted the game to help strive for a world without guns. It's beyond fucking retarded, then they go and give the knife a back story about a massacre on a ship that rhymes with Columbine. This ass fuck retarded statement is why I can not recommend buying this gorgeous game or buying anything from this developer. If they said that before I bought it, I never would have.

Excited to explore the rest of the map and story, when I finally feel like I am ready to do so. I love good exploration games and this one seems to have nailed it.
When I heard Subnautica made itself a cinematic trailer I thought it'd be pretty good, but this exceeded my expectations. That was AWESOME. Great work guys!
While I agree that a movie would be good, many people would give it bad reviews purely because of the nature of the movie's origins. Video game movies have gotten better over the decades, but so few come out because of poor ratings. Remember the Ratchet and Clank movie that was released alongside the PS4 reboot? Reviewers, both professional and unprofessional, were severely harsh and didn't really give it a fair chance.
I'm glad i was one of the Subnautica fanatics before it became mainstream. I was making Subnautica references before most people knew about the game, i was truly one of the cult, but I'm so glad it's mainstream now, they put so much love and effort into this fantastic work of art that they deserve this recognition and more!

Spoilers? Really? People who don't have the game yet wouldn't have considered this spoilers. "There were people before you on this planet". Oh no game ruined 0/10. If anything I'd say it's more interesting when you find out there have been more people.
Subnautica is one of those special games. Not only is it pretty damn good for a Survival game, but there’s also a magic to it that I can’t quite explain. I’ve played this game for shy of 1,000 hours, I know all of the game’s tricks, I know where most things are found, and I knuckle up and square off against the leviathans on the regular. But still, something keeps pulling me back.
ive played through and beaten the game 34 times each playthrough dumping at least 30 hours of straight gameplay into it, the only biome i havent been in much is the dunes mainly because theres nothing there i really enjoy exploring, but the game is just downright special. its completely unique from any other survival game in the sense that its entirely underwater which, the fear of is addicting, theres absolutely no real way to effectively kill leviathans without putting yourself at risk, every pda databank and voice log is so cool ive never seen any other game put anywhere near as much detail into it as this one has. and then theres that never-ending dread of if you want to progress you have to swim deeper, where significantly scarier and more dangerous creatures are, especially amplified by our fear of the ocean in general. i cant wait for the next subnautica game
For me it's the whole concept of being a sandbox game that takes place 95% of the time underwater, exploration becomes much more complex and exciting when you're not limited to a horizontal plane of land like most games.

Miroslav Martan Great idea :)
Please release for ps4
Hearing the captain say "I'm attempting a controlled desent" in the game hits different.
Also Bart's last PDA is so sad, but I also feel kinda happy when I hear that he's not afraid anymore. This is a very great trailer
I like how they used one of Bart's PDAs in this
Genius idea in my opinion
In this cinematic they've shown him, not the player cause player is Asian and they've shown Aurora crash in the end of it
And the captain's
OptimisticBleach how do we know hes asian?
milkyoongi in the old trailer you see him and I think he is asian
When I found this PDA in game and I just sat there like “wait I’ve heard this before...”
Hi there Connor
I like dogs
Conner?
Is Hank still drinking?
Yea its from bart torgals log 3. Its also my favorite one
"It's reassuring to know that once I'm gone, I'll join them", damn, that line got me
except that you probably wont cause death is simply the end and this goes for all biological beings
its a reassuring thought though, one everyone probably thinks before he goes
Um... i think he means to became part of the ecosystem by turning into humus after death. It would make sense, considering, that he said, the others are part of the planet, not in heaven and because this character is more science focused. So death wouldn’t be the end for him in his view.
Zackary Honabach is it really necessary to bring that here? Now?
Bart Torgal....
Reverend Dickemdown Damn. He got the best line
Play Monster Hunter world!
this is the kind of game you call 'game of the year' in january
more like game of the century :)
Moonzy game of eternity
Oh look at that hype bandwagon
It's an average game, still glitchy after release, with a good atmosphere but little actual content
GoombaGenocide better then a hate bandwagon. The gameplay isn't glitchy for me and this game sure doesnt have alot of content but the immersion and feeling is what makes it good, the story is really interesting and dark, the game looks amazing (imo) aswell
The Game of Games
love the aurora coming down at the end
also, "there's always the view...". a very chilling line right there
Cody Buckler the best game, best lines, best voice acting, best story line, BEST FREAKING DEVS EVER
and the sunbeam crashing down, damn
Edric Yeo That wasn't the sunbeam. That was the Degasi.
It was the Aurora...The Degasi already crashed prior and the lines heard in the cinematic are one of its crew speaking, Bart Torgal.
I know that but the ship that crashes at the beginning is neither the Aurora or the Sunbeam. It is the Degasi and we follow Bart through the entire trailer until the Aurora crashes at the very end.
It seems this would be a good movie
Just read my replies
yeah, I'd watch the shit out of a Subnautica movie
Ooh yeah, kind of like Alien Covenant but instead of the conventional (and cliche) land-aliens, there would be sea-creatures. Imagine seeing a reaper leviathan ripping a couple people apart, that'd be really cool lol.
There NEEDS to be a subnautica movie!
Chuck Godwin we can’t read your other replies without looking for them
Sometimes when I need a goosebump fix I come watch this. It's so beautifully put together. It sells you on everything this game is about, and the ending is so tightly tuned together with the words and the view and the pause and the ship I just melt. I've played the game to exhaustion, and Below Zero is fantastic.
YESSSSS THIS GAME IS AMAZING

Genius of a trailer. It starts with a survivor who experiences the world as you would when you play. All down to the same beats, from admiring the initial beauty before the fear in the deep. The disease that slowly kills him and wondering if he could’ve escaped. Before showing the Aurora crashing which cuts right before the crash implying, “Time to experience that yourself.”
its basically saying “ok its your turn, try not to die!”
My four horsemen of crying
-"Here be dragons"
-Uncle Iroh singing leaves from the vines
-Terraria's last update
-The ending of Subnautica

here were dragons :(
"What is a wave without an ocean?... What is a beginning... without an end? They are... different... but they go together. Now you go among the stars... And I collapse among the sand. We are different, but we go... Together".
Uncle Iroh... dude its so rare to see someone on internet who does multiple simalar things to you
Ikr the part where he had to pay 1 trillion credits was so sad
Really well executed trailer, still showing what the gameplay is but also not spoiling the story by telling it from a Degassi ship crash survivor before the main events of the story. Then that timelapse at the end and then showing the Aurora crashing was genius.
Yes
@@VerifiedSabotageI hate to break it to you but that ship we see in the end of the trailer IS the Aurora
@@VerifiedSabotage Nah the one in the beginning is the Degasi ship and the one at the very end is the Aurora
Submautica need to turn this into a movie the story line and plot is so good, I would pay a lot of money to see that in a cinema especially at night
Ssme
nah because every time they make a movie based on a game sweaty lard sacks will complain it doesnt fit the storyline 1600% and their favorite monsters werent included and would babyrage by posting bad reviews online just like they do with spinoff doom shows that arent meant to follow the actual game's tale of events
The story really doesn’t make sense Joseph Anderson made a really good video about the game
Dude I was just talking about that xD
Not sure about that one. Maybe life before the aurora crash and movie ends when you crash. Or we get more info of the Degassi survivors
Every time I watch this trailer, I get goosebumps, everything fits together in the trailer. And seeing the aurora at the end was my favourite part mostly because in game we don't actually see how it landed on the planet we just see it on the planet.

Imagine a Multiplayer where one player starts in Lifepod 5, but then other players start in other lifepods, like the destroyed ones lying about.
Would suck to spawn in the one lifepod that sunk 500m down
@@LMMloll one in the radiation area
Since the life pods can hold up to 2 people, I don't see how it would be an issue to just have another life pod land 100 or so meters away where 2 additional people could spawn. Imagine playing with 3 other people, commandeering the Cyclops while another person is in the Seamoth making recon.
It would be an amazing multiplayer game.

PJD imr it looked badass and the animations damn
Something Amazing about this trailer is that everything he is saying is from the voice logs that you Can find while playing
0:56 the audio here is exactly what I heard on repeat in my head the first time I went scuba diving, while it was in a controlled tank I was still terrified that I’d be stuck underneath the surface for some reason but the moment I looked under the surface everything melted away. Subnautica is a fantastic game and the Devs definitely knew what they were doing and atleast somebody on the team had to have been under the waves before.
You guys are the absolute best dev company out there. Please! Never change and stay true to gaming. I will surely purchase more games from you guys in the future. You promised a game and actually finishes and listened to the fans!

My friend, let me introduce you to Subnautica Randomiser Remade.
