- A suspect is still at large after what police believe could have been "one of the most dangerous pursuits" they have ever seen.
On Thursday, September 22, 2022, a thief was caught red-handed but managed to get away. Dash camera footage, which 12News obtained from Vidor Police, caught the entire incident.

Imagine that wire whipping around like that and wraps around a pedestrian leg. Scary thought.
Never seen anyone use dust-blowing so well as a means of escape.
You've never been to my house. No one can find me there for the dust.
@@bethwood9377 Oh stop. Don't be so harsh on yourself.
The dude disappeared in a field. Like David Copperfield.
He’s not running from the cops, he’s just stripping the insulation off the wires! So it will bring a better price at the scrap yard 😂
ok old man
@@OregonCrow Lol, you got the old part right
we use to drag rusted chain down the gravel roads to clean them up lol
Craig. HAHAHA..
No joke! Have you priced that wire stripping machine they're trying to sell? Every tweaker can afford that! LOL
If they already have the guy on tape committing the crime, why not just go to his home and arrest him there instead of chasing him all the creation! They have his tag number.
People steal change out licenses, tags
Ego, he has to prove he can stop crime😒🤔
Went to a funeral,came back,chase still on.
He is selling the copper wire as the cop rides around looking for him🤣
Give it up man,you had your chance , before y'all kill somebody, probably a child, it ain't worth all this shit over a thief, get his tag and get him at his home !
but...but...but... HE DISRESPECK MAH UHTHORTY!
@@cmerton yeah I guess we need cops I just haven't figured out why yet
@@cmerton LMFAO !!!!!
Who’s to say who the tag comes back to….?
...where he'll claim someone else was driving. And cops have to then find a way to prove it *was* him, hard to do when all your footage is of the back of his head.
...where residents claim he left 3 months ago and didn't say where he was going. So police have to put the place under surveillance to try to catch him return, if the residents lied. And they may not have been lying, in which case the resources used to watch over the residencei were wasted.
Not saying they should be risking lives on dangerous chases, but just waiting at his last known address will fail unless he's really dumb. They need a way to end the chase sooner and safer. Unfortunately the last time police got a tool to end suspects fighting them "sooner and safer" a number of cops abused the tool for their own ends or amusement by Tasering people already in custody.
35:49 best part
This dust-blocking the cops has been going on from way back in the moonshiner says. It works like a charm if you've got a fast car and know all the back roads. Some of the shiners in the old days would even drop/drag chains that would really throw the dust and dirt.
That would have been bootleggers. Moonshiners made the liquor, bootleggers transported it.
Beautiful day and gorgeous countryside
Staying high and out of jail is the objective of the game.
He knew all those back roads. I knew them all when I was young also.
Yulp !!! N all by design from the corrupt politicians destroying our great Nation ...
GAME? Someone could have been killed with those cables flying. This is no laughing matter. Our country is under attack by idiots. WTH? Grow up. One of your family members could have been decapitated by that cable flying by while they were having a party waiting for their daily mail.
I got the high part covered, it's that staying out of jail part I'm having trouble with
Had this occurred in Arkansas, I'd have saved 25-30 minutes on this video 🙄
Who doesn’t love a good old asp pit binge lmao
Truth 💯. Arkansas troopers are bad to the bone👍
Somebody would have been bump his truck to the patrol car/truck
Aww..I found the Arkansas state patrol groupie cuck comment section..BHAHAHA

This chase was a wonderful sightseeingtour. Thanks for presentation
Come on man, he's just stripping the wire to make it meltable. smh
That was a classic Dukes of Hazard maneuver......kicking up the dust on the busy dirt road.
Dust 'em out ! Good old school trick.
I wonderwhat would have happened if the cable wrapped around a light pole .
Lot of these Police or Sheriff departments release videos only when they catch someone, but this proves sometimes the bad guy gets away
Hmmm.. What was the objective of this chase? Or the cop was hoping the pickup would run out of fuel?
I can't believe this fool Officer still has a job!! he drives worse than my grandma... after she died!!! 🤣
I bet all the insulation came off that wire and he has some clean number one now!
I think he stopped to get the wires off when he was out of sight, that's why they had caught up with him again only to be eluded once more
Man was that a VHS camera from the 80s? Forget about reading the license plate…
If I was a criminal with a history of eluding traffic stops, this video would never give me the idea of obtaining some spike strips and creating an anti-pit manuver function for my truck. Kind of like how these wires were whipping all around. Fun to think about anyway.
don’t they have choppers in Texas?
im an old man now and on social security retirement , but i still have a caltrop (1 1/4 inch roofing nails) drop in the back, some used motor oil/ stp oil treatment spray nozzles under my back bumper hooked to 2 5 gallon buckets with pumps inside, etc.... i also got some real nasty stuff too!

Took out that mailbox = felony charges added onto everything else
that🤣🤣🤣is not a felony charge mailbox does not cost that much lol so its not a felony charge lol
That cable could whip around and do some damage on other cars too.
While the cable was swinging wide, the police officer could have rammed his rear end!
Once he lost the wires there should have been a pit maneuver.
Imagine saying you couldn't catch a Ford Ranger with a police interceptor🤣🤣
These wires/cables make this an interesting chase. I believe this is gonna be good.😅
The good news is the highway is now electromagnetic
It took me a second to realize the siren was dropping the beat, not the radio… 😂
this has to be the most un-aggressive chase i ever saw.. he practically just let him get away.
Twice.
Can't we all just get along
He has to look like he's trying to do something 😊
👎👎👎 "...chase I HAVE EVER SEEN..."
He had to be careful NOT to ride onto the chain…imagine the coil of chain that would be pulled out if the crooks car out into the police car…at that speed, it would kill the officer! This is smart driving by police! That chain has already taken down mailboxes…..
Beautiful Texas country. Almost forgot there was a car chase
That’s so funny, I found myself doing the same thing! My husband was in the Army at Fort Hood. Three tours, 3, 1 & 3. We loved it. I was allergic to tumbleweed, who knew, ya gotta love it.
No mountains
Mission Passed

The fugitive was much more a driver than the policeman. I do not understand this!
That's kinda freaky watching that wire hang out the back of the truck it looks like a damn big snake lol
Haha, I love it when they get away! Probably a good ole boy that knows the area.
So your ok with Trash stealing something that didn't belong to them...... You must be Trash also!!!
I don't really like thieves getting away. They won't get away if they come to my place. They'll be carried out

Would you be saying the same thing if that wire wrapped around a kid walking down the street and tore them in half? Your a pathetic piece of shit.
Just before the cop started backing up I thought I saw a little dust in the field to the right.

That cop is never gonna find the way out.
Hello OnStar ? I need directions and some clean underwear !

😂🎉😅👍
He is now thoroughly cornfused .
He followed him so long, that had to be disappointing. Glad he found him again. Sorry he lost him again. Tough ending.
Just once I would love to see a runner after a 20 plus minute chase. Pull over get out and say whew that was fun. You want to do it again next week.
awe he vanished into thin air no trail. lol
This is crazy ,man !
Gotta know them backroads, Hoss.
DONT WAIST YOUR TIME!
This video does not end with the suspect in cuffs or body bag. It just ends.
👎👎👎👎👎 "Don't WASTE your time"
I think this pickup truck with the cable hanging off the back was last seen in Oregon
My first thought was I hope no one is by the road and gets hit with the wire. Then I saw the mailboxes being destroyed. A body would suffer more damage. Have a unit sitting at the residence and arrest them when they arrive. The chase is a good part but we like to see the arrests. We like to know the bad guys don't win.
I was waiting for when "12" came around one them corners into a logging truck 🚚? Maybe next time? All that for some wire? You have a plate number and description of the truck and still put the public in danger. Sad 😔
A helicopter would have been great on this pursuit!
I suppose it’s one way of getting the plastic off your copper wire just wear it away .🤣😂
That is one way to
remove the insulation😂😂😂.
My words exactly: absolutely 😮😮😮😮
Tweekers in our town wouldn't have had that much fuel to run lol
Now that's what I'm talkin bout!! Nothing more satisfying than to run and get away!
Especially satisfying to the guy who had to buy the wire to start with, then buy it again to replace it.
He trimmed a lot of grass along the way
Wow he got away😭😭
Damnnnn Arkansas would of already pitted and arrested this guy
Hope their audio is better than what we are hearing
I thought he was being chased by a really fast snake!! 😂😂😂😂
That wire could be deadly to a pedestrian. Stop him sooner.
Lmfao, your a goddamn genius
@@wileecoyote5929 I am. And you’re illiterate. Good luck.
In Richmond Va. one time they where under a house cutting out pipes for scrap.
It did not turn out so well for them, turns out one of them was an active gas line.
Talk about a free cremation.
That's some country boy shit right there....
Definitely a local tweaker that has no registration and all they do is drive the back roads everywhere.
Dude, he's really putting innocent lives at risk of dearh or severe injury.😮
That was a damn good chase
That was the stupidest chase I’ve ever seen. Omg. Arkansas would had him out on the ground fast. Ain’t scared of no wire, 😂
I’m teasing “
Hey cop clean your windows.😂😂.
First time seeing an ALPR device on a push bar.
that guy is sitting at his house having a cold beer now, give it up , lol
I remember reading about this in my history class
I still don't understand "WHY" they think they're going to get way with their crime
From what I've seen I definitely wouldn't do any criminal activity in Texas
I guess, there's only one or two cops in those parts of Texas.
I think he was enjoying the chase.
Are you sure this isn’t in Arkansas? I thought they were the only ones with good video and bad audio, like talking in a well, a tin can with wax string, incredible.
Hopefully the guy received enough money from scraping the wire out to pay for all the gas he burned up outrunning the cop. Lol
I love watching people get away, I use to do it for sport in the 80s on a dirt bike ; )
Too bad you made it out of the 80s.
What cables?
Oooooh, those cables,......
I had my phone charging and uh, uh......
both drivers need NASCAR contracts, LMAO
The game could be "Meth-head Simulator."
I know different states have pursuit laws on what the police can do but I saw this chase the other night on video. I cant remember what state it was but when the state troopers got involved in the chase. It was one in a white truck on the the guys back! Every turn he made the troopers was on his back. The trooper gave him no chance of thinking he was going to escape and eventually the guy slipped up and made a mistake and got caught. When you let these idiots think they can get away the chase last long. When you don't it ends kinda quick.
Vidor Texas
I think that was the bank robbery chase I saw the other day trooper was relentless and right on him most of the time if you wanna watch some videos with somebody with zero fucks given wheres981 on RUclips I don’t know if he’s white black Hispanic definitely not my choice of music but the kid has skills
All of that over a piece of wire the cops there must really not be very busy
He sure knows his beat by now.
In parts of the TX Panhandle we run center pivot sprinkler irrigation systems with a quarter mile of underground wire. Back in the 80s & 90s we were laying the wire in conduit so it was easily removed for repair. We had to stop using conduit because they were pulling it out at night. Then they just began stealing the wire that runs down the top of the quarter mile machines. Our county sheriff's dept sure as Hell aren't gonna prowl the countryside watching for wire thieves at night. They hit the front door at sundown.
Well I would hv thought yall Texans would hv been like us Georgia Boys and started taking care of business yourselves if LE wouldn't?
What an interesting story. I always thought the people buying copper should give LEO a heads up on who selling copper obviously stolen
@arizonausa1664 Back during the same time period of the copper losses metal salvage yards totally stopped buying aluminum unless the seller had a receipt to prove purchase because thieves were stealing aluminim gated pipe in 20 ft lengths and flow line in 30 ft lengths straight from the fields at night. Thieves carried chain saws and would chop it in lengths to fit in a pickup bed. I've even seen people at farm auctions chopping 7" diameter 30' lengths of aluminum flow line into 4' lengths to take it straight to the salvage yards. Less profit for them when they had to buy it at auction but there's usually no competing bidders. I guess it beats picking up aluminum cans on the sides of highways. Some of that older aluminum pipe we had was heavy as heck.
It's hard to farm all day and run theft patrol all night, especially when your operation is spread out over 3 or 4 farms within a 15-20 mile circle. Nowadays we could use cameras to monitor activity, but that's just one more drag on profit when you're running 10 or 20 pivots it's gonna be at least a thousand dollars each. I'm not sure how that camera equipment handles weather. Those set up might not last a full year out here where we have a sandstorm ahead of every weather front.
The fuckers would just steal the camera gear too :(
That smoke screen is dangerous when deployed 🤣🤣🤣😮
Why is no one assisting this officer??
My first thought is how dangerous this pursuit is to someone taking a walk or riding a bike..end it and catch him next time.
That might have worked out well in some cartoon you watched, but in real life the cop knows better and he's right to stay off of them cables.
You obviously haven't been watching the Arkansas highway patrol videos. They'll total two vehicles stopping you.
Texas isn't that far from Arkansas... Maybe a day trip is in order. Didn't it used to be "one riot, one ranger"? Apparently it's now "one gas pedal, no ranger".
Quality audio brought to you by Charlie Brown’s teacher. “Whaa wha whaa whaa wha.”
Looks like a Sunday drive in the country.
First time I’m seeing a car take its leash for a “walk”…..🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭
The smoke screen worked perfectly 😛
A smarter thief would have had a way to release the wire. Better chance of a successful getaway and an obstacle for the chase vehicle.
The crook gets out free! Oh shit!
A good tank of gas gone to waste. I feel dusty from watching😂😂😂
That’s one way to strip wire & be @ the scrap yard in no time.
At least he done a good job for the community with them wires whipper snippering the long grass as he went around the corners
You can't catch them all! That's one good old boy that got away!
My pick up truck got a Caterpiller C15 under the hood 😄
If someone had been walking down the road they might have been legless after this fool come by
