Fallout New Vegas is one of my all time favourite games, and I'm so excited to present the game like this. I've planned my character build in depth with the goal of pushing the power of my build increasingly to its limit as time progresses. The plan is to complete all DLC, and pick up increasingly powerful items and perks that will help us throughout the game.

Physics Speed tied to FPS, a classic Bestheda engine experience.
iirc it was even a thing in the first year or so of fallout 76 so people could just get speed hacks by looking at the ground

Fun fact: Jas Wilkins most likely isn't a cannibal on purpose.
When you get the cannibal perk (or the one to eat ghouls and super mutants), you can tell her that corpses taste good - and she will immediately react with disgust.
Since the HUD telling you what you're looking at is a gameplay/pip-boy thing, she probably got the meat from a bad source and doesn't actually know that she's eating people.
Either that, or she's a _very_ good actor, even when faced by a fellow cannibal. She's also the great-niece of a FO2 character!
alternatively, whoever was in charge of detailing that cell didn't know "strange meat" was a euphemism and just thought, yeah, the meat of mole rats _is_ a pretty good contender for mystery meat

I am saying that because we know a group of cannibals, we can use the prescense of strange meat pies in that area(or more broadly the term strange meat) to determine whether or not the same language applies from fallout 3 to new vegas

I love the dichotomy of Dan. He'll play a game he has 400+ hours in and demonstrate super intricate knowledge of detailed subsystems, but also not notice the super obvious stuff like that in FO3 and NV you take out Deathclaw legs so they impotently and slowly limp towards you and can't use their deadly leap attack. Or that gamebryo doesn't have a split physics update and frame update, so he's playing at double (+?) speed.
Not aiming at deathclaw legs is the big one for me, especially with the YCS/186!

Not many people realize but the character of Dan RTGame was brought to life by the amazing voice talent of Liam O'Brien.
I love the cultural reemergence of Fallout in the mainstream consciousness. So many people going back to play the games. I even played Fallout 2 again, and died to the bloody ants
The ants in the Temple of Trials? You have to attack them once and the run. They don't have enough AP to chase and attack you so you are invincible.
Have you tried getting good?
better that than setting the plastic explosives in the temple of trials to ten seconds under the assumption they would automatically drop from your inventory and then being turned into an abstract cave painting against the walls
I should try it. I've been putting it off. I guess the fun of the game is restarting, trying out different stats and builds until you get it right. Also it has a Vita port

You know, I had assumed that the last video was sped up for, you know, video reasons. Finding out that he's just been playing like that and not knowing is peak comedy.
RT should seriously consider getting the Yukagari Unofficial Patch since it nearly erases the game crashing. That and the anti-stutter mod.

I'm curious as to how an anticrash mod could work, since generally when a computer program goes so wrong that it crashes, you _want_ it to crash before it causes more damage.
@@Blue-Maned_Hawkit just fixes the reasons the program would panic. It makes sense. Despite what you're saying, crashes aren't desirable and it's much better to, y'know, fix them
@@Blue-Maned_Hawk If I'm not misremembering how Gamebryo games work, one of the primary reasons crashes happen is because of invalid code loading in for a fraction of a second, and not enough time for the other end of the code to send it's response which causes a faulty exception and causes the game to shit itself and shut down. The anti-crash modders tracked down all of these instances and fixed them. You can still crash because of just general Gamebryo stability just not being able to handle certain things sometimes, but the anti-crash mod helps SO MUCH.
@@Creepernom Their point is that in the event where something does go really bad, then you might want it to crash instead of it continuing to spiral out of control. They're not saying to just leave bugs or problems in because "it's fine, it will cause a crash and all will be good." Of course if you just fix the thing that made it go bad in the first place, like the mod would, then crashes don't even enter the picture. The misunderstanding is that they're assuming the mod doesn't fix the things that would cause the crash, but instead somehow stops the game from crashing once something has gone wrong, which would be terrible.

I love how the knife doesn't even look like it hit the scorpion here. RT just holds it out like he's casting "LIMBUS DISINTEGRATUS" on it and all of it's legs (and tail) spontaneously implode as the result.

@1:00 Dan brings back memories of my Fallout 2 "Pacifist" run where I finished the game and most locations' major questlines, ton of sidequests, etc with 0 Kills. No kill stat until the final boss who is a forced cutscene and always credited no matter how he's killed.
I became a chemist who "healed" people to death by giving them Super Stimpacks (which caused small HP damage a while after being used). I would craft a bunch, heal someone as much as it took, get very far away and then hit the Wait button causing all the "recoil" from the Superstims to go off at once.
That's how i kill Lynette on every playthrough

I'll be honest, having only played FO3 and 4 one or two times each, seeing a build capable of one-shotting Deathclaws terrifies me. Can't wait to see how much more destruction John Oppenheimer can bring to the Mojave Wasteland
3 and 4 are a lot easier to abuse into a build like that and deathclaws are a substantial amount weaker in those, so it's possibly even more impressive than you think.
@@Chloethemarxenjoyerproblem is that enemies level with you in 3 and 4 but are at a set level in nv
@@cogbait Exactly, which is all well and good for Todd Howard's "see a mountain and go there" design philosophy, which I might add hasn't worked particularly well since Morrowind, but has the added effect of making the game very easy, making deathclaws no longer a really scary enemy, and totally ruining any structure the game's story and world might have had.
With melee in F4 you can oneshot Legendary Behemoths (if you spawn those in somehow) or Queens or Crawlers, that is nothing spectacular here
you should see how goofy melee/unarmed builds could get. Ever wanna stunlock 3 deathclaws at once?

I watched another streamer I like accidentally choose the same woman as the culprit for Boone's wife's dead (which he did as complete accident) and when he found out she actually did it was hilarious timing. Really funny to see the differences in playthroughs.

27:30 I do have to say that as a Critical Role fan, it's so funny to see all these diverse NPCs that Daniel interacts with in the game... and like 50% of them are voiced by Sam Riegel, Liam O'Brien, or Yuri Lowenthal. So fun to pick them out (also holy SHIT they have so many characters. Like 100 NPCs are just Yuri.

Watching RT discover in real time that every gamebro engine before 76 has it's physics engine tied to FPS was great. Though that does raise the question of if he's running any mods at all. He's obviously missing the Tick Fix because that also fixes the physics engine at high FPS, and he wouldn't be crashing this much if he were running New Vegas Anti-Crash and YUP

RT has all this New Vegas knowledge but didnt know the game runs on the framerate or the best crit spot for a deathclaw is their chest lol
Deathclaw weakspot being the belly is a Fallout 4 mechanic. Headshots will do the most damage to deathclaws in 3 and NV. The gauss rifle (which the YCS is a unique variant of) is just bugged and does less damage in VATS.
@the_rabidsquirel figured it was all the games since their white belly clearly screams shoot me, but makes more sense Bethesda barely knows what they're doing lol
This is one of my favorite games, and until this video I had never tried hardcore. I feel like this series is a perfect example that it really isn't that hard, and all the mechanics actually make the game feel a lot more fun. So, thanks, RT! I think every playthrough I do from now on will be on hardcore.

If I remember correctly, gauss cannons suffer from a bug where their secondary explosion damge won't activate if you use V.A.T.S.
Reminder that the legendary deathclaw is not the hardest/ strongest enemy in the game. The legendary bloatfly or x42 roboscorpion are.
Side note, that roboscorpion is barely a fight, but screw that bloatfly , to quote the wiki “It has twice the health of the legendary deathclaw and deals nearly twice the damage.”
So OWB just has the most cracked enemies in the game? Makes sense.
Kinda surprising that that MONSTROSITY is the most borderline example of buffout's effects though. A fly into a plasma spewing demon of horror...

I love how insanely POWERFUL John Oppenheimer has become right at the start of the GAME and now look at HIM taking out Deathclaws and Lakelurks like they're NOTHING to HIM! (Also, the Boppenheimer needs to be a THING in this playthrough!)
I love how healing snuffles give you more exp then murdering a powder ganger.
Didn't even know you could assault the prison with the NCR. I've always already killed the PGs coming for Good Springs and then I assault the prison immediately after by myself.
To communicate just how hard that Deathclaw hit, you have heavy damage resistance during VATS cutscenes.

When he was at quarry junction made me think "why is the mother so freaking quick?", and then at black mountain he discovered that he was playing in 2x for like 10 years, was so funny for me

Gauss cannons are bugged in VATS, their explosion effect doesn't trigger so they do way less damage

I always thought that new vegas was extremely overrated, until I saw your playthrough. I love what you're doing.
It's easily the best Fallout game. That being said it obviously has it's issues and a lot of people try and act like it's flawless when it isn't.
