Thank you so much for the kind words. That means a lot to me!
Hello, I've noticed that you've used several brands of 2 part epoxies for your rings. What is your favorite brand for overall strength and ease of use? BTW, I really like your videos; great job. Also, I live in Waxahachie.
Hi. Without a doubt, West Systems 'G Flex' 2part epoxy. Has to cure overnight but WAYY stronger than anything else I've used.
Is that Bob Smith industries five minute epoxy? Is that typically what you use to bond wood to the metal ring cores?
Sorry for the delay in answering (was out of town). I used to use the 5 minute epoxy but had some issues. Now use 'GFlex' from West Systems. Takes overnight to cure but MUCH stronger.
No problem! I’ve been mostly laminating wood together (haven’t tried metal cores yet). Been using JB Weld (for a little extra waterproofing) for that. Thank you!
You need more subs! I may be contacting you for a couple of memorial rings. Can you think of any appropriate inlay material that’s blueish purple in color?
Maybe Lavender Opal? That would make a pretty ring!
What do you use for polish? Great video
I use 'Zam' on one wheel, then finish on a clean wheel.
I'm a supporter of the Battle Ship Texas foundation and I would love one of those rings to add to my collection.
My question and I mean no disrespect but do you make them in men's sizes?
I looked at your website and the largest ring I saw was a size 12...I'm really not into pinky rings.
Is that the largest you can or will make?
No offense taken. I actually can get the ring cores up to size 17, but I currently only have mandrels that hold the ring on the lathe that go up to size 13 (I'll look and see if I can get a larger mandrel).
@@hillcountryrings Thank you sir. If you do please post it where we can see it either here or on your website.
My ring finger is a 15, I can wear a 12 on my pinky but it's a tight fit.
How does one find themselves with wood from a Battleship?
A few of the battleships have conservation/repair groups that replace deck boards. I get these from those groups, or the battleship's online gift shop. I get some really nice pieces but it's expensive. Sometimes the wood is all split/unusable (so I just consider those a donation for the maintenance of the ship).
I notice you were wearing glasses in you dusk mask....Please; which mask do you use.
Sorry it took so long to reply! It's the XINBKT 17 in 1. Bought it on Amazon, here's a link. (www.amazon.com/XINBTK-Full-Face-Respirator-Reusable/dp/B09WQL3SP7?ref_=ast_sto_dp) The glasses are just a pair of reading glasses that I 'hacked' so I could permanently mount them in the respirator (works great). Here's a link to that video... ruclips.net/video/TDWPMPT9Izc/видео.html
