Saturday honors the original Sabbath, even though we are not under the law! It was a token, a shadow, and the sign between God & Israel until Jesus, our true Shabbat, because all things, to include the Sabbath were made by Him! As such, we have the spiritual reality not just a day to memorialize the original 7th day Sabbath in Genesis. It's through His finished work of redemption at the cross, we can cease from our labor under the law! Sabbath was never originally intended for man to keep! Never! Adventists are completely taking scripture and dispensation way out of it's context! Christ redeemed mankind back to God. It was God who gave man His original 7th day Sabbath to enjoy...work represented the fall from God's Sabbath and it represented Egyptian slavery. Both were results of Adam's disobedience. Thus God commanded not one ounce of work on His Sabbath as a memorial. Well, Jesus took care of the fall and sin at the cross! So God's not commanding us anymore to do no work on the Sabbath! Jesus purchased back man. The curse has been removed for those who believe. So Sabbath isn't just a day anymore, we can have the spiritual reality and I know I rest everyday in His finished work. I'm sanctified by His finished work. That's really what the 7th day is, not Saturday, but a spiritual condition of which at the resurrection creation will come into the fullness of the original 7th day during Jesus 1,000 year reign. Sunday isn't our Sabbath and it represents the New Testament. Jesus resurrection. Without which, we would have no Sabbath or redemption! It's a celebration. However just like Saturday is a token day and I'll agree, so is Sunday a token day because we believe and we celebrate His resurrection 24/7! In the early 60's, I took a trip to Kansas City, MO, from our CA home so my wife could visit her relatives and was the first time I had ever heard of 'Blue Laws'. I needed something on a Sunday, NO stores open...fortunately for me the Kansas state line was less then three miles away....I went there, where I could (and DID) buy anything I wanted. My personal STRONG opinion....Government should stay out of enforcement of religious views/beliefs on ANY and ALL things....and should be a part of the strong separation of church and state in this nation. If you take a day off, take off the same rest day Christ did on earth and the same day Christ told us to keep when he taught is how to pray "let your will be done on EARTH, as it is in heaven" and in Isaiah 66, you have further evidence that the 7th day sabbath will be kept for all eternity.
