Well, there are pink maggit that is origin of this song I guess. It's not that hard to make because it's kinda interpretation of another cool song they made. (and, actually, pink maggit is far more interesting for me than "cover" )

Well Chino plays a lot on "Change". Steph is just chorus on that one. So I don't see it being such a big thing to Steph.

How ever much chino hates this song this is the song that got me hooked on deftones. Then I purchased white pony and was blown away.
Shame they didn’t include it in the wp 20th anniversary collection. Despite the reason for the song it’s still part of their history and they even did a music video for it.

I think someone at the label had a hard on for that type of sound but the band knocked it out of the park.

I went to a local venue in Mesa, Az in Aug ‘95, not knowing who was playing that night, but wanted to listen to some live music. When we got there the flyer said ‘Deftones’. I thought that maybe they were a Ska band…🤷🏻♂️😂 They proceeded to melt my face off and I’ve been a monster fan ever since. Every live show is amazing!
Ironically enough when they were approached by a label very early into their career, they insisted they’d be a ska band instead because it was more “fitting into their name” or they recommended other names for em but obviously the band wasn’t heading towards that direction so they put down their offer and they “thought about it” but when they tried calling Steph back into a follow up meeting he ignored their calls apparently

I want to First say that you guys are my favorite band. Your music has meant so much to me. I've been a fan since day one. I was devastated when Chi died. RIP! I have seen y'all live 12 times. And I have made it a point to buy every record. Not get some bootleg version. But you guys have recently disappointed me with a couple of your decisions. The whole Sergio situation was very shocking to me. I was hurt by how y'all dealt with that whole thing. The first time I saw y'all live was white pony tour in Orlando. So I have seen y'all equally enough with both bass players. Obviously the sound never changed which was truly intended. Every time I saw you guys with Sergio playing. He never showed nothing but the utmost enthusiasm and gratitude for being in the band. I think he did more than just fill in. He was on the last four albums and I'm pretty sure he didn't just play. I know he contributed something. And after being in the band pretty much just as long as Chi. He deserved a rightful place in the band. And he clearly showed that it wasn't about the money to him at all. It was more about being a full member of the band. It really hurt me that you guys didn't give him a proper place. You didn't give him a proper release. You guys were taking photos without him. Someone who has definitely earned the right to be in the band. It truly is a slap in the face. And it shows his true nature by how he handled his video post. He had every right to trash you guys but he remained completely respectful. And I have to be honest. You guys giving no response publicly was a bad idea. It says to me "Oh well F$$$ him". And the rumor is as far as you guys are concerned. It was the fact that he would have to get more money. I don't want to believe that. But you guys have given no public reaction or response at all. I'm also disappointed that Stephen decided to stay home during the European tour and let somebody else play what he created. If I was over there and found out that he wasn't going to be playing guitar there. Along with the reason why he didn't want to be there. Which all I've heard is pretty much covid. I ask for a refund and not go. That's like going to a Deftones show after he died and watching you guys play with someone new. It's not the same. Now don't get me wrong. I don't know anything about his potential health risk of catching covid. I know he smokes a lot of pot. But if that's not the case? I feel it's not only a slap to the fans face but also the band. If everybody is still alive and the band is still together? I don't want to go see my favorite band with someone else replacing any one of them no matter how good it sounds. Yes many people out there can play guitar bass and drums just as good as their idols. But just imagine what this would do to the band if Chino decided to make the same decision. I know that it is damn near impossible to replace a singer unless you find the miracle person that can truly imitate the sound. But the way I see it everybody is equally important. Hopefully you already have. But if you haven't? I truly hope y'all do your best to settle things with Sergio the right way. I don't know everything that's going on so I'm not trying to be hateful and ignorant. I'm just going by what I have access to. Finally. You guys teased your fans years ago by hinting that you were going to release Eros. I understand the emotions involved. But again going by what I have access to. Majority of the album at least 65% to 75% complete. And what I have access to. It is amazing. Dallas. Smile. Melanie which by the way is badass. Everything I've heard is good and definitely better than Gore. I don't know you guys or Chi personally but I believe he would have wanted it released by now. And I also believe that as a fan we deserve it. And it would give you guys a positive boost. You guys do not understand that you would make a good amount of money from releasing that. I'm speaking this from the heart because you guys were part of two of the most incredible changes to music as people know it. I was born in '78 so Nirvana was the first for me. They threw out the whole'80s hair metal and makeup. The crappy songs with flashy guitars that all sounded the same. And you guys know what I'm talking about. Nirvana truly turn me into a rock fan. Not only did I become a guitar player. I became a self-taught guitar player. Rock and roll got better to me after they came into my world. And then there was Green Day and everybody around those bands. Smashing Pumpkins Weezer. And then something new came around. I will never say nu metal because I truly hate that phrase. What you, korn, incubus and even Limp Bizkit did was show the effect of The Inspirations of all the different things you grew up on. All of you created a new sound that show respect to your influences. It was a energy that rarely comes around. And I sadly say this truly not because I'm 44 AKA getting old. I don't think there's ever going to be another thing like those two moments in my life. The industry has changed so much that I truly don't care about anything new because the radio will never play what's good anymore. I live in Central Florida. I have Tampa and Orlando rock stations to listen to. Both stations are saturated with literally about 15 to 20 songs that get played over and over daily. At least six Linkin Park songs are on that list. Every time I turn on the radio I hear shine down. Linkin Park. Disturbed. Ozzy Osbourne. Metallica's Master a puppets. Godsmack and a Sprinkle of new stuff that ain't worth s***. Once again I'm not hating on y'all. I love you guys. I would give anything to meet you guys so you can at least see in my eyes how much your music has meant to me. That's my opinion. God bless
