@cathmcfarlane-noble2087. Nobody is saying the flag is racist, he's saying the falg has been co-opeded by the far-right which I unfortunately believe is true.
I think the idea is that not only that racists display flags but it's the flag itself that makes them racist. Otherwise removing it wouldn't change anything.

The Windrush people were not "brought" here, they came here of their own choice looking for work. None were sent invitations or requests. Britain was short of workers and had openly said so but I have been and worked in many countries but not one offered me a passport. There is a huge irrational jump made. They did not register as residents or gain citizenship and that was wrong. They were forgiven but instead of that being seen as kindness they are still seen as victims for not following the law. I am happy that they have been forgiven and that their children that are innocent victims of their parents crime are legalised but those that complain should have that kindness revoked. As for slavery, maybe the British should regret being the country that did the most to end slavery in a world where slavery was the norm. Which countries sold the most of their people? Britain is not on the list. Britain's most significant part in slavery was ending it and for that we have nothing to be ashamed of. This man is looking for victim status rather than pride in the country that did so much for him.
They didn't need citizenship because they were already British subjects. Jamaica was part of the British empire at the time.

St Andrew was hardly Scottish and St Patrick was a Briton who first went to Ireland after being captured by Irish slavers
St Patrick was enslaved in Ireland but he escaped and went back to wales ,became a preacher and he went back to Ireland to try and convert the irish people to christianity . It took yrs but he done it. And that is why we celebrate st Patrick's day in his honour, its a religious holiday but this year it was more like a pride parade not a st Patrick's day parade.
St. Patrick was Welsh. James Connolly was Scottish. Eamon de Valera was Argentinian and American. To us, they’re Irish.

As a British Greek Cypriot, I see that saying the English flag is racist because of a few minority far right groups who use it as their symbol is like saying that Christmas should be made illegal because of a minority who don’t celebrate it.

I don’t think its so much the English Flag as flags in general. Patriotism exists in Wales and Scotland, but not so much in England. Whenever I go to either Scotland or Wales, I see their flag as a symbol of pride. It’s used on products that are sold there and places that you visit. Whereas in England, anything that made there uses the Union Flag if anything at all. There are perhaps many reasons for this, but I suspect its England’s dominance as a nation that has a lot to do with it, going back generations to the ruling classes and their superiority. The class system in England is very much alive and well, sadly, which is very much linked to our past. Therefore there is a significant delineation between the lower, working classes, middle classes and the upper classes.
The St George’s Flag seems to have been adopted by those in the lower/working class and it’s image is associated with this. But in reality, I don’t see the middle class in England showing any sort of patriotism outside of a sporting event or Royal event and even then a small minority would display a flag. Although, interestingly I have seen it in a very upper class setting in very expensive country hotel in the Cotswolds.
Yes patriotism does exist in England but any sign is labelled Extreme Rightwing and cancelled.

St. Edmund was the first patron saint of England up until 1350 when he was replaced by St. George - Not sure why. At least Edmund was an English king.

This is the flag of my country I see no issue with it, I will never be ashamed of it and would not deny someone's right to fly it. If someone does something bad with anything, does it mean it should be banned. For instance, if someone throws a stone and breaks a window should we ban all stones?
