    Cost of living in Texas used to be really good before people from 49 states have moved here. We are overflowing and the cost of everything has skyrocketed. Houses that were $150,000 are now $250,000. Apartments that used to rent for $900/month are now renting for $1200 - $1500/month. We are too full and traffic is HORRENDOUS.

    I retired at 53 thanks to my husband . It wouldn't have been possible without his company stock plan because it far exceeded the 401k we both have. He is six years older than me and was sick of the day to day grind but we had no clue if our savings and investments would be sufficient, we finally went to a financial management meeting and we make all decisions for a profitable Investment and prepared a plan for our early retirement. We should have done this years ago but never considered that we might ever have enough to retire early and I thank God and my husband for the ability to do investment . We are now financially stable with everything paid for and we have a good health insurance ! Don't wait time is something we have in short supply and no amount of money will buy you more.

Either her home state or a location where that company has a location, like she said, Canada. Remote workers can bop around unless there is a conflict with the location , for example certain countries in the Middle East, or Russia, China.

      @shugg881 Yes, what V.A.L. said....my undergrad was in psych in Cali... couldn't get a job so I moved to Denver and started working as an accounting assistant and worked my way up through agencies... 6 years later... still no accounting degree, just moved to Dallas, staff accountant.... maybe start with accounts payable/accounts receivable roles and then find what element of accounting works for you

    • @angelar.5683
      @angelar.5683 2 года назад +3

      I agree with the other 2 ladies. Start with AP or accounting assistant, then work your way up. My background was in payroll, and that helped me get my first job in accounting. But I also had additional coursework in accounting so that may have helped my resume stand out... also while still in payroll, maybe ask your current employer to give you different accounting type task that way you can add that to your resume. And look at smaller firms that may be willing to give you a chance

That heat has nothing on LA's beautiful weather, or even Vegas' heat. That heat in the summer is like an inferno. That is the only thing that scares me. Lol.. during the day I'm in the house working and I go out in the morning or at night when the heat is not as bad. And when I didn't want to deal with the heat, I left town. Went and visited friends and family in Denver and Long Beach... people complain about the heat, but that really shouldn't be a deterent. Unless you HAVE to be outside, you don't have to be outside. The best remote jobs are not jobs. However, if you do have a job the best remote job is as an independent contractor. Send a well outlined proposal to the firm or company of your choice and work them. Smaller companies are better because they tend to be a bit more fluid and they "need" you. Create the need.

    Analysts take some years because you need that experience before you can analyze the systems. Definitely not an easy thing to just apply for. They usually hire within the company most times at least in my experience. For people looking for entry level then look into customer support that’s usually remote.

    What she’s saying about accounting experience and education isn’t necessarily true. I’ll speak to the company I’m with. I’m in Accounting and in my department we all have Bachelors & Masters degrees. We all happen to be minority. The managers are White and only have H.S diplomas. So ummm yeah….. Also, saying “accounting” says nothing. Data entry leads closer to AP and AR jobs which is about $17-$25 p/h (Pennies IMO). They won’t end up being a Senior Accountant or Principal Accountant dealing with GL accounts, Revenue Recognition or GL Reconciliations after a year of data entry. Those are the higher paid jobs in Accounting.

      Agreed. Without a degree in accounting or business or something similar, you really can't get super far. Pay will most likely max out around $25/hr... and I don't think I've ever met a Black accountant without at least a bachelor's degree. The chances of getting hired seem slim
