@@juliaboskamp9666 I never said that? Like at the bare minimum, a life Sim should have weather. The bar is so low with Sims these days, weather would be a miracle lol
I would agree except weather I'm sure is a LOT of work. The laziness for me with that one was no new world. My problem with the laundry pack is that half the time it doesn't freakin' work.
I love the gallery even though it’s so broken, and im afraid that because EA hears all this complaining about it they won’t fix it and will just remove it 😭😭 it’s such an amazing idea and I LOVE it it just needs better search options
I don’t mind the loading screens but it should have definitely been open neighborhood. To have a loading screen for visiting the apartment neighbors is just sad…
the laundry day controversy is missing some context: the reason why a lot of people were angry was because it was initially being pitched as an eco-friendly stuff pack, so it was supposed to contain a lot.more stuff than just laundry, and then gradually they kept stripping down that concept until it was just laundry.
This is how I feel all the time! It doesn't seem like there is anyone on the sims team who has played through the crazy hecticness of the sims and the sims 2
I looked at the devs who worked on some of the packs and games they’ve previously worked on. A LOT of them have been around since TS2 and worked on TS3, so I don’t know what the hell happened 😭
@@SnazzyArcade I know Lindsey gave an interview saying that she didn't like when she was playing 2 or 3 and things happened beyond the player's control and messed up the storyline they were trying to play so deliberately didn't put things like that in Sims 4. Was it an excuse or a choice? Either way, its my belief that is when they started concentrating on the word "stories" all the time, totally without understanding that most of us are playing a GAME not telling a story.
They know the packs are buggy and shallow, the community has been complaining for almost 9 years. This is EA's fault, which has been imposing tight deadlines and reducing the team responsible for quality control.
@@nedrane297 I honestly don't understand Lyndsay; she's been around since TS1 but just seems to not understand what players want and it bugs me because she was part of the Bella Goth disappearing lore! Realistically the game should have shipped with: 1. Recognizable townies (who signed off on Cassandra Goth and the Calientes?) 2. The relationship panel reflecting the bio blurbs. Bella should be falling out of love with Mortimer and Summer should have a crush on Travis. That alone would have made the game like, 10% more tolerable at release.
I remember when I switched from 2 to 3, it was hard letting go of the extension packs to back to a vanilla base game, but I was still SO EXCITED to discover a new game, and all the things they added, the open world, the traits, having shoes separate from pants, lol. And then 4 came and... features were removed, little to nothing was added. Woo.
Same. With sims 3, I was excited about the open world and the personality traits. I played sims 2 a lot with friends or my sister, because it's more fun to make up a story together. Sims 3, I play on my own, because there's so much happening in the game that I don't need someone to help me with the story. The game does that for me :P Sims 4 doesn't tell stories. It's kind of a sandbox game. The only things that are really better about Sims 4 than 3 are CAS and build/buy. The gameplay is boring, usually.
Yes! The sims 3 base game was so fun and I played it for months, hours each day. Couldn’t do that with sims 4. I can barely do that now with sims 4 while owning 90% of the packs.
I’ve always been very vocal and critical of the sims 4, since day one. I’ve owned and played 1-4. I remember the day I purchased the sims 4 on release and noticing there weren’t any pools, jacuzzi’s, toddlers and many other things. I closed my laptop and didn’t touch the game for well over a year. I had never had that happen before. It’s good to see people share similar sentiments. A lot of people in the beginning were trying to down play how bare bones the game is.
Man, I remember being soooo excited about the shoes being separate from pants specifically. Such a funny thing to be excited about, but it was a big deal for me.
the aliens in journey to batuu not being actual aliens, but MASKS really pissed me off. aliens generally need an overhaul and that pack wouldve been the perfect opportunity.
@@franciscoxavier7398 In Sims 3 plant Sims were a full on life state in university life sure they weren't very in depth but they were a full on life state
I said it before and I'll say it again Sims 5 has to have lore (gravestones, memories), Easter eggs, iconic Sims objects like vibrating bed, cowplant, plant Sims etc.. also I want graveyards back and maybe funny and spooky townies
Can we also talk about how you are required to make a Sim when you start a new game? That's proof in and of itself that this was an online game first and you had to make an avatar to play. But the Maxis team decided not to update this so that you can go straight into gameplay even though the give us pre-made townies?
also, with the new home screen, if you click play it takes you immediately to that family which is annoying being i play multiple families. i mean you can get around it by clicking load game and then play, but it’s annoying tbh. i want the giant play button back that took me straight to the world 😭
@niaram This! The Sims 4 is the only one in the franchise where it is built to push players to only play one sim/household per game session. Yes we can move from household to household, but when we want to do a clean save we have to make a new sim. Save files are a good way of getting around this requirement, but I know for some players that isn't an option or can be tedious if you do rotations. 😮💨
@@niaram A way around this that I've just figured out years later, is mark your families as unplayed and save the game. your progress with the family or sim wont change, but it means you can load up straight to the world map rather than straight into the household. It's just annoying to have to keep on top of it if you've saved game whilst playing as a sim. I have to change them back to unplayed before saving and exiting the game
I also think another controversial thing, that I haven't seen anyone talk about, is how they just keep taking items from packs and putting them into base game. They took a bed from parenthood and made it base game so they could have more bunk bed options, taking hairs, and shirts, and maybe even more out of packs that people paid money for never sat right with me. t may only be one item, but I paid up to $40 to have that item and they just take them out and make them base game.
I hate that too! Design new items you lazy bastards! How about this new hair with Deesims collab? It is LIITTERALLY the same hair as in High School Pack. And what about "graves trio" or pumpkin lamp from Spooky Stuff Pack? THE SAME ITEMS AS IN SEASONS! It's riddiculous!
They did that with the photography skill which was originally in Get to Work and made it base game, which really bothered me. It shows a huge lack of pre-planning and direction because it's clear to me that they back pedal a lot and realize the base game is lacking and broken and it sucks that they retroactively rehash paid things for free 😕
@@lilacpenguin5329 so still, why they dont cross pack??? Now they made wants and fears but only for basegame and for High School pack, what about million of packs behind? And stealing content from previous packs to put it in basegame is not a solution to make game full and interesting for players! I already payed for this so create something new!
no seriously.... the fact that they literally pulled the hair from the sims on the university packs cover, too!! those are legit a large reason of why I bought the pack!
I play vanilla and the sims 4 loading screens annoy me so much I just won’t leave the damn lot my entire gameplay- I play the sims 3 regularly still and much prefer the longer wait and then I’m able to get the game going and go anywhere and do whatever I want without having to stop and wait every time. I think it’s the frequency that bothers me so much
Same - I only own base game and vampires for Sims 4, and when I play I only leave home to teleport to work. I mean, it’s so aggravating that even in my neighborhood I can be in a park across from my house, walk right up to the edge of my lot, and then *boom* loading screen. In Sims 3 it’s one and done, plus I like the little game you get to play for lifetime happiness points while it’s loading!
I remember when my sims went down the street literally to go to a restaurant and when i told her to go home I saw her walk all the way to her house and once she got to her door I had a loading screen
@@slimpretty7215 right?? I’ve tried to go to a lot that’s so dang close only to have my sim walk right onto the lot and be cut off by that dang loading screen!
For someone who's broke, and doesn't want every expansion, I feel like for me, this hot tub comes in handy, especially for people who want a hot tub, but don't wanna buy a pack just to get the hot tub. It may not be pretty, but it is still functional
See flipside is those who bought perfect patio because they wanted hot tubs only to it then to be given for free. It was a kick in the teeth to them. But also... if it was like... 16th anniversary... or 21st anniversary, it would be fine. But the main issue was that it was the 20th anniversary and all we got was a hot tub? Like as was said, if it was an iconic hot tub that would be different... but it was a really random one. But yeah. Not so much it was a hot tub but it was the 20th anniversary lol
It's not about the hot tub itself but the fact that for the *20th* anniversary they decided to just release *one* average piece of forniture and call it a day. Like yeah it's neat to have a hot tub for DLC-free players but this could have been added with any update as another base game item.
I just read a comment complaining on how base game gets objects for that other people had to pay for to get. As someone who owns almost every pack, that is the least they can do, considering how shitty the base game is. It’s still shitty with all the packs tho too.
The Russia controversy was even worse than you said. Because the rules in Russia was that art of that nature couldn't be on child/teen level games but the Sims 4 was listed in Russia as an ADULT level game and so the whole thing was totally unnecessary.
You're one of the only sims youtubers I watch because you're actually HONEST. I feel like a lot of this is brushed over but the reality is that EA's take on sims 4 is catastrophic and it is failure after failure. Thank you for actually voicing everything we're thinking.
@@onlysoraya well, to me it's like the others are here to make propaganda for the Sims team and that doesn't sit right by me. So people can say what they want on reddit, that won't change our opinion 😊
I think plumbella is fairly honest. She has often times called out the Sims team or spoken up about how bad packs are. Lilsimsie seems to try to be as neutral as possible but Sims also gave her a platform and is her livelihood so you can see why she might try to not be too outspoken.
another thing about the star wars pack. the base game does have some star wars stuff already (I made a Twi'lek for the express purpose of doing stuff in the Batuu area) but when i got to that area, the sim had the Twi'lek head piece removed and i couldn't put it back on.
TS4 is purely a building sim for me now- which I DON'T want- I want amazing gameplay. Even with mods, the core of the game itself is just so dull and shallow so I feel like mods can only try to fix so much. I honestly think the entire team working on TS4 is ready to move on. The only packs that feel like they were passionate about are occult (paranormal stuff is a perfect example). But the everyday life stuff feels so boring, and my theory is because they know and feel how shallow the sims/gameplay is, so it bores them to make it. Though I do quite like laundry day 🤭The items are nice, and I like the real-life element of doing everyday chores in the Sims. Adds more challenge to the game for me.
i honestly understand why laundry was so popular. it should've been in the original game in my opinion. even if the sims is about doing a lot more than the mundane things, that is a big part of the sims' charm. it also makes the game a bit harder, which is fun in its own way.
#10 proves that, whenever given the choice, the majority somehow votes for the most vanilla thing possible. First laundry and then _knitting._ I still want my science pack, because the science career isn't sciency enough yet! This was one of the options! (Nothing wrong with knitting itself, it is a nice hobby. But so is science!)
Simmers want family gameplay, not another pack for young adults. That's why it's laundry and knitting. They even removed other life stages from the cover. Such a bs
@@ksyvi Which is a sentiment I've found enormously uncreative and limiting. Laundry Day, Nifty Knitting and Bust the Dust are all cute ideas I guess, but i feel like they should have been integrated with Parenthood and turned into some sort of game pack like "Boring Chores!" pack or something. Doing laundry and vacuuming around the house could reinforce good manners for kid and teen sims, for example. Two stuff packs (twenty dollars) and a kit (five dollars) already costs more than a gamepack. I would much rather pay that much money for something fun that I can't do in real life. I already do my own laundry in real life, I don't want to have to do it in sims when I can be anything I want and do anything i want.
there are generally two camps of simmers, those who like more realistic family gameplay/are builders and want realistic things in homes like washing and drying machines, and those who like more wacky and chaotic stuff like occult sims (ofc u can be both). i personally fall into the first camp more, and although i think basic stuff like freaking weather and laundry should’ve been in the base game since the start, i appreciate them being added anyway bc like i said, they add realism and challenge, but i can definitely see how it’s not everyone’s cup of tea lol (aside from the fact the laundry system doesn’t even work well 💀)
I remember that the Laundry pack was a result of voting, and I think Laundry was an even further reduction of “eco living”. Which actually included gameplay ideas like solar panels. We didn’t vote for only laundry
For the next list, you should include Spark'd, Snowy Escape's shrine bow, and the Tumblr Game Changer who made a public statement about favoritism and exclusion within the GC program
I don't mind having loading screens. I have all the packs and the game loads in 10-15 seconds. But I have to be honest: I think it's ridiculous to have one just to visit the neighbor lol
Same! I do wish it was semi open world at least. You can explore your neighborhood (see your neighbors or go to businesses) freely. Only hitting a loading screen if you went to another world or neighborhood.
I’m surprised that you didn’t mention how with Journey to Batuu people were mad when it was revealed due to how there was a poll on what kind of pack people would want before the trailer came out. Out of twenty one ideas a Star Wars pack came dead last with 2.9k votes. In 20th was veganism with 4.1k votes. Simmers just generally weren’t interested in a Star Wars pack so Journey to Batuu came off as just an advertisement
I don't mind the semi open world. It would be better if instead of loading the building one by one, they should load an entire neighborhood section. I stopped playing sims 4 before University pack came out and I really hate going out of my sim house because of the loading screen. Not only that but it's actually jarring how the career system doesn't make you know your co-workers. In the sims 3, of course you can get to know your co-workers so that even if you never leave your house, you can still socialize with other sims through your careers.
I started liking sims 3 loading screen bc you could earn points by finding things (and if I remember correctly the points were used to buy traits like 'steel bladder' and 'white vest')
00:01 Ok but no, not unanimously. I think there is a simple explanation to how people can be so disappointed in something that was voted on by the community. I'm gonna use a word I don't normally use but : MATH. When the first voting poll arrives, it's full of possibilities. Or 5, in our case. That first poll has different themes and almost everyone ends up finding one they like. So they vote for it. That means lots of votes... but that divides the vote. About a fifth (give or take) of those players are going to be happy at the end of that first voting round, right out the gate. Even worse, within that fifth, you have asked people to vote for a subset of the theme (for instance Knitting was ONE of 5 options in "Arts and crafts", along with Sculpting, Glass Fabrication, Edible art and Embroidering). Basically you've already guaranteed that only a new fifth of the original fifth is getting what they vote on. Everyone else is AT BEST getting their second choice. And then comes a new voting poll that only has kept what that fifth of the fifth voted on. You ask people whose preference has been already dismissed to vote on it. What happens is that either they do vote (but half-heatedly, re: it's already their second choice) or they... don't. From day one you were at a big risk that the people voting were a vocal minority, but now you're refining that minority yourself with every further voting poll and there's no escaping it. What are the odds that the people who, 3 votes ago, voted on STEM kits, are now helping you make decisions about a knitting pack ? Most of them didn't. With every poll you have a clearer idea of what a much smaller minority is into. Not of what EVERYONE wants. CUT TO : Community Stuff Pack release. As a surprise to nobody, a few people are REALLY happy with the final pack. But the vast majority of the others are either unhappy or making do (as usual you're counting on the segment of your audience that buys anything). There were other ways of doing a better job at getting a pack that EVERYONE (ok, most people) wants : doing the poll all at once with a ranking of ALL the possibilities at once. Or to not select a unifying theme, and instead to just tell people, at each round : "we're making your ideal assets ; regardless of what assets were chosen during the previous voting round, now you have all of the choices laid out in front of you". The selling point of that pack is not the theme (just like with laundry, most people will find knitting laughable as a theme), but the promise of a pack that includes the creme de la creme of assets. The Dream Pack. And yes, that might mean that the clothes will be bobo chic and the gameplay item will be a microscope and the building pieces some Medieval set, but at least you always go for what was asked by most people, and not the very specialized gimmick that makes a happy fews' day. The real value in asking people what they want is in... giving it to them afterwards. That illusion that The Sims 4 tried to give that people were building a community pack didn't work because most people settled for less or simply never got what they wanted.
Now I think they screwed the algorithm for the my first pet stuff being the most popular DLC, and I’m thinking it’s because, on console at least, they’ve bundled the Cats & Dogs packs together with the Pet Stuff, and the bundle is ALWAY on some sale that the regular expansion packs aren’t on. I paid like $30 for both together bc of that bundle discount last month.
For the Caliente sisters. I do want to remind all that fake tanning was huge back then so them having lighter in a modern game makes sense. But yeah. The skin colors were terrible. But they also had no white skin tones. They only had yellow yellow a few orange and brown ones and a few black ones.
I remember, back in the day, EA released Star Wars Battlefront 2 for €70 (if I remember correctly) on origin. They said it would have no DLC and everyone was happy… … until we saw it had MICRO-TRANSACTIONS. They had the AUDACITY to sell that game for that price AND THEY STILL PUT IN MICRO-TRANSACTIONS. Thats not the end, cuz they made the game in such a way it was almost completely pay to win. No wonder the game got canceled almost 3 years later 😂.
on the topic of open world (and my biggest grudge since the launch), the biggest misconception is that the sims 4 is a semi-open world - it's not. semi-open would mean that once you load the neighbourhood within the world, everything in it is available to visit without loading screens. all your neighbour's houses and other lots, including ofc your own lot. same goes for the routing or walking paths. in the sims 4 there are so many closed off areas where your sims just can't go, but they are right there on the screen! and don't get me started on the ugly fake houses they littered the worlds with, to try to conceal (unsuccessfully) that you have just a few lots available and everything else is just empty and fake.
I thought I was the only one who noticed how empty and unplayable all the lots were. It's all background scenery with barely any interaction opportunities. (Henford-on-bagley)
I need that Bonehilda loading screen mod lol. I hate how i have to sit through loading screens when i'm just visiting the other apartment down the hallway, or the house right next to my sim's
Realm of Magic is what finally broke me. I haven't bought any Sims 4 DLC since then. Instead, I spent some time making the Sims 3 play smoothly. I've been playing the Sims 3 and living my best life
10. I love laundry stuff, even if I don't always use the washer and dryer, I love the BB items. 9. I never minded the TS3 loading screen, probably because there was the game on it. Since I built my new desktop, it loads too quickly for me to play the game. :( I hate the TS4 loading screens just to go next door. And my game still runs like garbage even on the new desktop, so I have no idea what the screens were really saving us from. My TS4 sims rarely leave the house at all. 4, 2. I'm one of the old folks who have been playing since day one. I was 19 when the Sims first came out, and I freaking loved playing. I've played them all since, and loved them. So OF COURSE I bought TS4 the day it came out! And I bought the super double extra collector edition that was like 70 or 80 bucks or something. I tried so hard to be optimistic when I started playing. The world was beautiful, at least, even if the Sims themselves looked like rubber nightmare dolls pulling Jim Carey faces every two seconds. But the lack of so many things we'd come to view as base game items, the incredible amount of glitching, and the seemingly tone deaf Sims team crushed my enjoyment pretty quickly. I held on for about two years, but for the first time ever, I became a builder instead of a player. I eventually quit playing all together. Cottage Living brought be back, since that was something I had been wanting since original Sims. I was so disappointed to find that while some things had improved, a lot of the glitches and issues that made me give up were still in the game.
I’ve been playing the sims 3 and if you tweak things here and there, like disable interactive loading screens, the game loads up pretty quickly, like very quickly for the Sims 3. So him saying it taking “very very very long” is inaccurate. And I play with highest graphics turned on. There is this 53 minute video on RUclips (yes it’s long) but if you follow everything it tells you, it makes the sims 3 run great. Like really good in fact. It puts the sims 4 to shame.
For #9, I don't mind the loading screens at all, because compared to my other heavily modded games, Cities:Skylines and Kerbal Space Program, Sims 4 load times are still very short. Heck I can make dinner while my Cities:Skylines save loads if I uninstall the Loading Screen Mod and let it load normally!
Honestly I think Cats and Dogs was so weird and really missed the mark. I know that EA probably didn’t want to simply recreate Pets for the Sims 4 but… I mean I miss the horses and being able to control your pets. And things that My First Pet stuff has (like hamsters and turtles and whatnot) were originally included in Pets!! So why would I have to spend extra money on features that were previously included in an almost identical expansion pack? Sooo frustrating!
Ea and the sims teams never listens until the big influential simmers say something so unless they ask for it you're not getting it sucks but the truth hurts ....and honestly sick of it and if you think otherwise sorry,we'll have fun when the wake up call happens I thought maybe I was wrong but after seeing things unfold I've finally accepted it Satch you were spot on between the wedding stories controversy in Russia and the skin tones its evident who ea cares about and some of the sims team too and everyday simmers aren't it
2:58 The problem isn't white washing. The problem is people not understanding what a "TAN" is. Like the Calientes are clearly WHITE. They have fair hair, and eyes. They were just sporting dark tans, which was a major fashion trend in the 80'-early 2000's. Sims 2 even had a tanning function in the later packs.
I don't like how a lot of people said the controversy about MFP stuff is that it includes you can't use (or can't use fully) without another DLC, when the problem is that the concept was built around those things I want other packs would come with pet stuff, or extra powers for occults, or a recipe that needs stuff from another pack. That's what cross-pack compatibility is, and it's so much better that way! Just as long as it's a couple of features that the pack can still stand without Anyway, thanks for explaining it correctly
There is no reason to prefer non ope world than open world. Open allows you to go anywhere with no drawbacks. The future is open world. Even a better semi open world would be limiting the game.
i have seen a roofed hot tub. my best friend in high school owned a roofed hot tub in their yard. lol it looked exactly like the one in the sims 20th anniversary tub. haha
The Mac Collab is the worst. I know the game have limit of file size but the textures of the makeup is soo ugly, it's traumatizing. Lol. Any CC prove it can look infinity times better. How someone said "thats a nice product to represent our makeup in your game". The Mac box with TS 4 logo is equally bad.
I absolutely refuse to buy My Wedding Stories. I don't care how beautiful the world is, how good the build/buy is, or any other selling point. It's wrong to sell a product that the manufacturer knows is faulty and I can't support that.
Where is my birds pets EA ?! I would love getting parrots back in the sims, its has always been my favorite in game pets! In the sims 3, when their friend sim was getting in the same room, if you trained the bird to say "sul sul" he would just say it when they see their best bud. Also we had the possibility to make the bird fly around the house or getting a ride on a Sim shoulder. Oh and they were getting loud and stress when there was a thunderstorm outside or when the housecat was getting near their cage. But no.. The Sims devs choose to only give us Hamsters.. in a Dlc of a Dlc... 😢
ughh I hate how there's like 3 instruments.. would it really be hard to have just the popular ones even? sure a bass clarinet or euphonium would be nice but they couldn't even manage a keyboard? a trumpet? come on, EA.
some packs need to be in the base game. pets, going to work, SEASONS (seriously how is that not in the base game), the toddler one, laundry. i get why things like city life or werewolves or magic are a separate pack, but mundane things like pets and actually being able to see your sim at their job should be a part of the game. i hate the way the sims 4 is advertised, and now the base game is free. instead of making additional packs that should've been part of the base game cheaper/free, they make the whole game free. as if most of the players haven't already payed for it. it's ridiculous.
I’m still kinda mad about the lack of horses in the sims 4. I spent so much time in the sims 3 trying to find unicorns and have the best show horse. Also wish the pets were controllable like sims 3.
Okay to be honest I really like the laundry pack, only because I am a House Flipper fan first and blew a gasket trying to find a washer and dryer for my house before realizing base game just....doesn't have laundry appliances, but has baskets and piles of clothing???
I didn’t mind loading screens coming back because I was already used to it in sims 2. My issue is that they promised more and better gameplay stating that’s why they brought the loading screens back but the gameplay is the dullest in the franchise unless you go to extreme lengths to mod the game. The AI system of the sims also makes zero sense and there’s still no chemistry between them. On top of wants/fears being another version of whims that ended up being non-shockingly terrible at this point.
The Sims 4 is still terrible for Black skintones, hairdos and makeup. I cant use much of it, it's depressing. I cant imagine how bad it used to be. I would compare the sims 4 to that massive cyberpunk debacle though.
Pet stuff is a genuine embarrassment. Also, taking a bed out of parenthood and making it basegame is pretty scummy. Why not just make a new bed?? (Don't even remind me about them saying bunk beds are too hard to animate and then making the millennium falcon.. yeah, we got those bunk beds)
Regarding the skin tone thing, I wish there were more non human skin colors. Like- I wanna make some MLP- I mean… Pokémon kind of characters but I can’t 😢
I just giggle when people complain about a 20 second loading screen. They should try a dial up modem. TBH I probaby wouldn't have voted for a laundry pack but the minute I saw it I was like yes! I absolutely love that pack. I love the CAS and I make my Sims do laundry all the time. I love setting up the laundry rooms and the washtub and washline for my poor/rural/simple living sims. I even love the happy moodlets from fresh clothes.
I was so disappointed by knitting. I didn’t really want it to begin with, but then the style of clothes you can make look like they’ve all been designed by one artist with one preferred color palette, and the bright mix matched vomit of rainbow patterns is so far from my style. Which sucks, because I crochet and sew but nothing from nifty knitting looks like anything I’d make.
One of my biggest pet peeves in TS4 is how they handled who can and can't use Double Beds making them feel worse then 2 single beds side by side in Vanilla thankfully I'm on PC and can use mods
There also now seems to be an issue with the sims 3 where DLC is not working on the EA app and it seems like its been an issue for months and EA themselves haven't done or said much about it at all, even when looking it up you have to dig deeper to find a lot of stuff about it. I ended up rebuying everything for the sims 3 through steam on sale recently for really cheap but I shouldn't have had to buy it from steam just to get it to work. Genuinely really disappointed in EA as a company as of recently and I really don't feel like supporting them for a while.
I'm convinced that all the Sims 4 voting for stuff they want in game is rigged. They already had the packs to go I bet. Also, I'm pretty sure maxis has next to nothing to do with the Sims anymore since like Sims 2-3 so it's actually EA who are ruining the content
I love laundry day! But it should have absolutely come with the game. I like chores in the sims 3 for my stay at home mom to do when her family is at work and school!
One of my first mods was a custom loading screen lol, now instead of depressing blue block its a beautiful backyard with Sakura trees and willow creek in the background, it's a still picture but it weirdly makes a huge difference?? Idk lol I appreciate it every time I see it.
I timed my loading screen once and it took close to an hour to load into live mode from the start menu. Yep, I had wayyy too many mods installed on an already slow laptop. Never made that mistake again.
10:36 and to top it off, ea showed further indifference and not even week later they completely removed sims 4 from sales in russia altogether. that's how much ea cared. they only cared for reputation and only when big e-celebs made fuss about it, but then still removed the game for whole region once the old_hashtag was replaced with current_hashtag
I think the laundry pack sounds boring so I have never bought it. I use to forget to clean in the sims anyways because I mostly just hire a cleaning service anyway. So I think that I would have forgotten to wash my sims clothes and they got annoyed at me. 🙄
Another controversy about the sims 4 wedding game pack It's the fact this crazy pack is still at a high price even during Sales. Only -25% when It's -30% for other game pack and this very bad pack was release a long time ago now. 💀😭
I use the two-tone Mac lipstick to make POC Sims. I have two-toned lips, so I just set it to a natural swatch, maybe change the hue, and lower the opacity.
I loved the pack too but I started having trouble with it. No matter how clean the laundry was there'd be no "Move to Dryer" and if I took it out of the washer it was "Dirty" and "Damp". Just couldn't fix it.
The thing is, loading screens also (kinda) solve the problem of the AI frenetically trying to juggle around a few dozen sims in a gigantic world to make it look less like a ghost town, but mostly failing. This had been the most off-putting thing about TS3 compared to TS2 back in the day for me, Nraas mods and various AI routing bugs fixes helped, but it still was very noticeable.
I actually believe a lot of people who play The Sims are still very much enamored with day-to-day, "boring" stuff. A very common criticism of The Sims 4 was that it cleansed this out of the game-e.g. compare the cooking animations of TS2 and TS4, an example among millions-, so realism and attention to detail are always lacking and the game becomes dull and empty without a metric ton of mods. I'm not claiming this is what Laundry Day was trying to fix, I'm just commenting on why something as mundane as laundering could've been an appealing choice for many. Interesting move to ship it as a singleton pack, though. Peak EA.
I'm 15 and I started actually playing The Sims when I was 12 (before that I just snuck into my sister's computer and played it) but I would say I'm pretty young and I know quite a few people that play The Sims that are around my age 😂
I actually REALLY like the laundry pack. It just should have been added as a free update. Like weather....
and all the other packs you think *shouldn't be in the base game* like: weddings, pets, all kits and school
@@juliaboskamp9666 I never said that? Like at the bare minimum, a life Sim should have weather. The bar is so low with Sims these days, weather would be a miracle lol
No because I don't want my game consumed by something stupid like laundry
I would agree except weather I'm sure is a LOT of work. The laziness for me with that one was no new world. My problem with the laundry pack is that half the time it doesn't freakin' work.
Same. But it really messes up with only having one washing and drying machine though
I get really anoyed by the galery. Its such a great idea, but I hate how the searching by owned packs doesnt work.
It drived me nuts when i didn' had any packs....
this 100%
I love the gallery even though it’s so broken, and im afraid that because EA hears all this complaining about it they won’t fix it and will just remove it 😭😭 it’s such an amazing idea and I LOVE it it just needs better search options
Oh that is sooo annoying, I chose owned packs and I still get builds or households that have a pack I don't have. 🥲
THIS EXACTLY,
I don’t mind the loading screens but it should have definitely been open neighborhood.
They need to have someone on the sims team who is a fan of The Sims games. It's very obvious that they never played any of the games.
Realistically the game should have shipped with:
1. Recognizable townies (who signed off on Cassandra Goth and the Calientes?)
The game does that for me :P
Sims 4 doesn't tell stories.
That pack was basically the Sims version of a Disney World attraction, unfortunately
Plant sims are controversial too. The fact that sims 4 plant sims are just green sims with nothing unique about them
For a long while, I thought that Plant Sims was just a in game joke, like, this surely isnt a thing... but it is. But then, it kinda isn't... xD
@@franciscoxavier7398 In Sims 3 plant Sims were a full on life state in university life sure they weren't very in depth but they were a full on life state
I said it before and I'll say it again
Sims 5 has to have lore (gravestones, memories), Easter eggs, iconic Sims objects like vibrating bed, cowplant, plant Sims etc.. also I want graveyards back and maybe funny and spooky townies
I first saw it when most of university hair style is now in the base game ... I was so pissed off
no seriously.... the fact that they literally pulled the hair from the sims on the university packs cover, too!! those are legit a large reason of why I bought the pack!
I’ve tried to go to a lot that’s so dang close only to have my sim walk right onto the lot and be cut off by that dang loading screen!
exactly. i never understood why people complain about the sims 3 loading screen. it’s literally just twice a couple mins long & then ur in.
@@lala_landed tbh I’ve had it take a good 20 minutes to get into my game but I play it on a laptop with max expansions installed so I expect this lol
For someone who's broke, and doesn't want every expansion, I feel like for me, this hot tub comes in handy, especially for people who want a hot tub, but don't wanna buy a pack just to get the hot tub. It may not be pretty, but it is still functional
Totally agree with this one! As a base game player, I'm glad to have a hot tub for free in my game.
Yes. Him and Pixelade.
@@bibaoreo4355 exactly. ppl on reddit said theyre too negative but i love their honesty so much
@@onlysoraya well, to me it's like the others are here to make propaganda for the Sims team and that doesn't sit right by me. So people can say what they want on reddit, that won't change our opinion 😊
@dd yeah I hate it. The game changer thing ruined the community.
I think plumbella is fairly honest. She has often times called out the Sims team or spoken up about how bad packs are. Lilsimsie seems to try to be as neutral as possible but Sims also gave her a platform and is her livelihood so you can see why she might try to not be too outspoken.
Sims 3 Loading screen may have been long, but they had that little mini game to play while waiting
How did I not know there was a mini game during loading for the sims 3
And the mini game was great because it gave you lifetime reward points for the more you guessed!
another thing about the star wars pack.
the base game does have some star wars stuff already (I made a Twi'lek for the express purpose of doing stuff in the Batuu area) but when i got to that area, the sim had the Twi'lek head piece removed and i couldn't put it back on.
The scientists career is so vast to me 😅 what more could you want. It’s the most fleshed out career imo
Simmers want family gameplay, not another pack for young adults. That's why it's laundry and knitting.
They even removed other life stages from the cover. Such a bs
I want the dangerous stuff pack. having more things to do with the grim reaper and ghosts and possibly funerals seems much more interesting to me
@@ksyvi Which is a sentiment I've found enormously uncreative and limiting.
I'm so sad that I remember all of these controversies happening
I don't mind having loading screens. I have all the packs and the game loads in 10-15 seconds. But I have to be honest: I think it's ridiculous to have one just to visit the neighbor lol
Same, it kinda breaks my immersion and it makes me want to never leave my sim's house
Same! I do wish it was semi open world at least. You can explore your neighborhood (see your neighbors or go to businesses) freely. Only hitting a loading screen if you went to another world or neighborhood.
yall are lucky, my game is slow so it takes like 50-30 seconds to load 😭
I’m surprised that you didn’t mention how with Journey to Batuu people were mad when it was revealed due to how there was a poll on what kind of pack people would want before the trailer came out. Out of twenty one ideas a Star Wars pack came dead last with 2.9k votes. In 20th was veganism with 4.1k votes. Simmers just generally weren’t interested in a Star Wars pack so Journey to Batuu came off as just an advertisement
How was laundry chosen over DANGEROUS STUFF😭😭 WE WERE ROBBED
This is why the community doesn't deserve freedom of expression /jk🤥
That illusion that The Sims 4 tried to give that people were building a community pack didn't work because most people settled for less or simply never got what they wanted.
i am not reading all of that
at this point I actively avoid any travelling in sims 4 because I dont want to go through loading screens
Yeah I got my 360 copy a couple years ago for like $25
yep. lol they rlly try to make up for it so hard
For the Caliente sisters. I do want to remind all that fake tanning was huge back then so them having lighter in a modern game makes sense.
But yeah. The skin colors were terrible. But they also had no white skin tones. They only had yellow yellow a few orange and brown ones and a few black ones.
It is still very few white tones.. and it also impossible to make person mixed race (except black ones idk how they are called in english)
Yup, fair skin is hard to get right. There's like 2 swatches that work...the rest are all tans and yellows
Ugh yes, the disappointment of thesims palette and thesims in game makeup…what a wasted opportunity….
I remember, back in the day, EA released Star Wars Battlefront 2 for €70 (if I remember correctly) on origin. They said it would have no DLC and everyone was happy…
… until we saw it had MICRO-TRANSACTIONS. They had the AUDACITY to sell that game for that price AND THEY STILL PUT IN MICRO-TRANSACTIONS. Thats not the end, cuz they made the game in such a way it was almost completely pay to win. No wonder the game got canceled almost 3 years later 😂.
The "My first Pet" fiasco was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. No, EA. No more. I'll never give them another one of my dollars.
on the topic of open world (and my biggest grudge since the launch), the biggest misconception is that the sims 4 is a semi-open world - it's not. semi-open would mean that once you load the neighbourhood within the world, everything in it is available to visit without loading screens. all your neighbour's houses and other lots, including ofc your own lot. same goes for the routing or walking paths. in the sims 4 there are so many closed off areas where your sims just can't go, but they are right there on the screen! and don't get me started on the ugly fake houses they littered the worlds with, to try to conceal (unsuccessfully) that you have just a few lots available and everything else is just empty and fake.
I thought I was the only one who noticed how empty and unplayable all the lots were. It's all background scenery with barely any interaction opportunities. (Henford-on-bagley)
The photographer (freelancer) career isn't base game it's part of the Moschino Stuff Pack
I hate the TS4 loading screens just to go next door.
I actually enjoy the interactive loading screens, but even with them on my Sims 3 game loads too fast to make a cup of tea or give a treat to a cat! 😁
Link the video please!
Really? Laundry is better than 'Dangerous Stuff'???
YES
For me, I like the laundry pack since it adds realism. It's boring, sure, but it's better than no clothes if we're talking realism.
Recently, the deconstructed heart bed... rip heart bed
Imagine what will happen for the sims 4 10 year anniversary
Ea and the sims teams never listens until the big influential simmers say something so unless they ask for it you're not getting it sucks but the truth hurts ....and honestly sick of it and if you think otherwise sorry,we'll have fun when the wake up call happens I thought maybe I was wrong but after seeing things unfold I've finally accepted it Satch you were spot on between the wedding stories controversy in Russia and the skin tones its evident who ea cares about and some of the sims team too and everyday simmers aren't it
unironically your videos are getting me through the day
2:58 The problem isn't white washing. The problem is people not understanding what a "TAN" is. Like the Calientes are clearly WHITE. They have fair hair, and eyes. They were just sporting dark tans, which was a major fashion trend in the 80'-early 2000's. Sims 2 even had a tanning function in the later packs.
yeah, it looks like they just made them look "up to date"
I don't like how a lot of people said the controversy about MFP stuff is that it includes you can't use (or can't use fully) without another DLC, when the problem is that the concept was built around those things
I want other packs would come with pet stuff, or extra powers for occults, or a recipe that needs stuff from another pack. That's what cross-pack compatibility is, and it's so much better that way! Just as long as it's a couple of features that the pack can still stand without
Anyway, thanks for explaining it correctly
Oh wow! I literally have that original Mac palette. I had no idea it was reboxed into a Sims Collab palette.
I am 26 and played EVERY sims game including all of the spin-offs accross different consoles
well, i agree with most of this-except laundry day stuff. it adds a sense of realism to the sims :)!
I don't mind not controlling pets but I REALLY wanted horses. After Cottage came out without horses my dreams of riding a pretty pony died.
@@katrinascarlet5637 your dream is finally rising from the ashes, but it’ll probably be as crap as ea can physically manage tbh
Laundry day is only cool because nothing else in The Sims 4 feels like real life lol
God i adored the IKEA and H&M Stuff Pack. The HEMNES Bed was practically in all my Houses
The Sims 4 is still terrible for Black skintones, hairdos and makeup. I cant use much of it, it's depressing. I cant imagine how bad it used to be.
I would compare the sims 4 to that massive cyberpunk debacle though.
The makeup is DIRE!! I dont understand how They need to add some sort of makeup artist career and actually give us good makeup 🫠
Reading "My Wedding Stories" = PTSD.
Controversial opinion: I barely play with cats and dogs
also about the hot tub, people bought perfect patio to have hot tubs, then it was added to the base game
One of my biggest pet peeves in TS4 is how they handled who can and can't use Double Beds making them feel worse then 2 single beds side by side in Vanilla thankfully I'm on PC and can use mods
Omg, I can't stand the hot tub. It looks terrible and you can't do anything in it. My sims was in the hot tub for 30 seconds and was done.
i feel like everyone is just waiting on paralives at this point. EA has completely wrung on the Sims rag and she is DRY!
I've had that issue for years. I forget how I solved it, but I haven't had it re occur since. I think I just redownloaded everything
I'm convinced that all the Sims 4 voting for stuff they want in game is rigged. They already had the packs to go I bet.
Also, I'm pretty sure maxis has next to nothing to do with the Sims anymore since like Sims 2-3 so it's actually EA who are ruining the content
Literally 5 seconds in the video and thank you so much for straight up starting at number 10 without any intro phahahah
I actually love the laundry day pack 🤣🤣🤣
Sims 4 negativity nourishes me
10:36 and to top it off, ea showed further indifference and not even week later they completely removed sims 4 from sales in russia altogether. that's how much ea cared. they only cared for reputation and only when big e-celebs made fuss about it, but then still removed the game for whole region once the old_hashtag was replaced with current_hashtag
Your comment at the end - I’m glad someone finally said it.
i have laundry day and i was excited for it because i really like realism, but my washing machine and dryer never work
This is so sad how can a game with so much potential end up like this.
I literally used to take naps waiting on Sims 3 to load. It would take up to an hour on my game to load.
The skintone update is still awful. Only the warms tone palette is consistently good. Light-medium neutral and cool tones makes them look like corpses
6:00 - "I can't afford moschino, I've change my money to all the sims packs"
I love the laundry pack but I wish it wasn’t it’s own pack. I also wish it came with a second washer and dryer that looked older. Like in sims 3.
Peak EA.
that dancing bonehilda🤣🤣🤣
Good thing it's been 2 years since I've played the sims4🥳
I'm 15 and I started actually playing The Sims when I was 12 (before that I just snuck into my sister's computer and played it) but I would say I'm pretty young and I know quite a few people that play The Sims that are around my age 😂
