Why didn’t this guy get more recognition? Reach Superstardom? I just recently got turned on to his music, his style and his vibe. I missed the (JJ) boat growing up in LA on classic rock - Zep, Floyd, Stones etc. I feel bad I missed that early boat but I’m glad I caught the late “cruise”....Thanks JJ and RIP
What hornofgabriel said is literally true. Cale preferred to be invisible. He also was extremely professional - and when out on tour, doing shows, a pain to work with. But his music - oh my! And compared to others with far less ability and talent are even worse to work with, that's a fact yeah (sorry for citing Trouble In The City) (; Still, he did his best work in the studio, in part because he was not only a brilliant musician, but also a very gifted sound tech, engineer and backliner
I love his style which is so chill and mellow. I'd love to go to SF Bay Area and just ride up the coast a few days. I love the wine country, Carmel and Pebble Beach. That would be so relaxing (if you're with the right someone) and romantic!
Definitely sounds like a bad night at the Catalyst, spent many nights there. I grew up in Santa Cruz, wish I'd never left. Miss the beaches, the redwoods, the memories.
An old friend of mine in the 80's use to say that JJ's was hypotensive (low-blood-pressure) rock 'n' roll. which swings like mad! Rest in musical heaven JJ!
The pix in the video are from perhaps high plains, here in Santa Cruz we have micro-climates! It's a mixed bag, yet to be sure many a panorama where the mountains kiss the sea, here where the bay is deep, the folks quiet as uh-sheep, often rowdy enough to party. My sons 1st concert was actually JJ at a backyard party. Kinda easy going here, meet a lotta folks that way, some known, some anonymously regional characters and some, such as myself, only in it for the trails, I go slow, I go fast, on the tracks and off the rails, been all over this world, and always love it when the pilots dip a wing so I can see my own place, there at the end of B-40, up against Sunset Park, where I sit up in the morning, see the boardwalk rides, love those screams of joy, view the ocean, calm or riled, this town is its child, origins as a fishing village, now has so many claims to underground fame, I go to deepest India, and meet many who love this place. CA is a gorgeous region, governance aside... with some educated voting and activism we will fix it back to being the Golden State. We party here, with rockers, ragga, blues men, all kinds of players, from modern to "remember when", such as holding onto what was once golden. It still is such, under the mold and rust. Though my boy thought JJ was a bit grouchy, it is because Christine could not make it with him and he kept hearing his own music make others money and play. A big bunch of us wrote to Clapton and a few months later, EC toured with JJ, maybe coincidence, yet the 2 made good friends, great music and JJ ( as EC has done for so many) got a real boost in his status as being one of the top musicians / writers of Americana... overdue, and truly happy that he is now so much more appreciated. Miss the man, his music, yet have all these CDs and playlists, so JJ Cale does shine on... with best regards from Santa Cruz!
Love it and why can't THEY release all of his rare and hard to find songs on a cd/vinyl??? Please God I pray for a disc of rarities and bootlegs and unpublished material-
Discovered his music when I was a teen in 89, since then he's always along the way. Would like to say THANKS for all the good times spent listening to this humble Legend.

J.J.Cale,é um desses artistas completos, cujo olhar sensível, abrange as mais variadas paisagens da vida cotidiana, com apurado senso artístico e poético.É um mestre!
I'm about 60 been grooving with JJ since I was twelve. Real guitar real songs with depth and the perfect smoking music to party or unwind with. He will always be awesome!!!
I only got introduced to JJ's music a few years ago and do believe he's got to be one of the most underrated of them all. What a guy! RIP JJ, your music will live on.
got my first jj cale vinyl in 1974. glad that he got to jam with clapton before he passed. He sure made clapton a lot of money with call me the breeze and cocaine.
Nicely put together. Anything Cale is some of the best stuff you could every hear. If people knew that some of their "favorite" music was written by him they'd still be scratchin' their head. I'm surprised by how many people have never heard of him, yet probably have one of his songs stuck in their head allot of the time. :-p
i discovered JJ cale by a friend of mine, a guitar friend that is. i started listening to his stuff on the day JJ Cale died, better late then never. i love this music so much !! i don't understand why i didn't knew this music waaaay earlier because i listen to a lot of blues, rock, stoner, metal, psychedelic rock and blues etc etc etc.
Thanks for this ! The sound is actually good ! I'm listening to this on my laptop and I can accurately follow the bassline. Great song by one of the greatest musicians ever !
2024 and still playing. P.s. Shine on you crazy diamonds kickt da auch gut😊
I started listening to JJ back in '73 while getting ripped off playing poker with a bunch of "table-talking" aquaintences introduced to me by a friend. I was so green to the game I didn't know I was entitled to tell them to shut the fuck up AND take my money back; but the intro to JJ was worth the price of admission. Thanks for the intro to the new tracks.
JJ indeed inspired Knopfler and the rest of the band, as Knopfler himself has said, and as you also can hear in the music of D.S. Actually, Knopfler and Cale did a couple of gigs together.. I would love to hear those two together!
Never tire of JJ, love his music more and more, great cruisin’ music, what a talented cool cat, RIP we all love JJ.
undefinable eternal magical brilliance ... Merci JJ !!!
J.J. Cale was a man of his own.... man his music is addicting and after a 25-year break coming back to the guitar he was there.
Being from Santa Cruz, you know I love this. Jj got me through hard times.
For me too
JJ is (was) the best of the best, if you listen to him, you find all the great musicans in his music
well beyond bloody brilliant for eternity !!!
Spirit power live, thank you
You're gone JJ but your songs will remain for ever with us. May your soul rest in peace⚘

I'll tell you about the night in Santa Cruz
Well we didn't play long it booed too soon
I can't do right no matter what you do
A girl in the crowd, at the finale
Shouted at me had I even turned
Another man left 'cause he didn't stay long
I thought we had played his favorite song
Hey you, pull that weight
A soon as it's cleaned up then I'll fade away
My friends and I hope you're glad to see
Me and friends coming off the street
Play, Richard

He didn't want to.
So much music was being released back then.❤

he was humble and craved the simple life

Oh, I LIKE that definition - spot on! :)
laid back rockabilly blues..
There's only one thing really rare in jj and it's a bad song in his portfolio.
Throw your blood pressure tablets away .Take the Cale audio prescription it’s been tried and tested by some of the best musicians in the business!
@@alexdebuaoh yesss.. classy repertoire
He paved the way -- his mellow sound is his own.
It was rare. No more. 1:23
