of course snorting a good line of coke on a hot day in the desert feels like someone stuck an ice cream cone on your fore head. indeed. repeat applications reduce life span tho.
This comment is the psychology definition of projection. This is you, JK. There's no doubt your use of cocaine has not resulted in any music created coming anywhere near the magnificence of JJ Cale's inspiration and ability, "Baskin Robbins".
Begets the question Jim. Who will be listening to you or I in 200 years? Is life quantity only? Does the length of life define the value of it? This song will echo long after us mere insipid mortals are long forgotten
Man, JJ Cale blows me away...songwriter and guitarist yes. Innovator, absolutely. Coolest music on the planet. JJ Cale is the reason aliens visit our planet.
H.Smith: me, too! And I'm happy in this way....I didn't miss anything....every Minute of my Life was an adventure...some not so very nice...but on the other side: it was worth to live any Second! 😉😂😊 And J.J. Cale 's: I shot the Sheriff and Cocaine.... Hey man! This is Legend! And other great Musicians thought same... And the are very succesful with it! Thx J.J.Cale for this very special "groove"! 😍💞👍 Oh man...i Made a mistake.. That was Dillinger, but doesn't matter 😂😂😂, both are GREAT! 💋😍🍀
Same for me....I' have no regrets...would do the same..... Cocaine, weeds, friends, girls, and my navy years !! Grettings from the other side of the moon!!!!
Since the early seventies I have been listening to this earthy man. Shy appearance, coupled with honest fingers that are so bluesy that he is the Breeze. RIP JJ - you will continue to warm my heart.
I discovered JJ in 1973, the year I arrived in France from Romania, my country of origin. This vinyl, "Naturally", was the shock of the discovery of another music, of an outstanding composer and guitarist. The disc is still there, vinyl and CD. This (his) music does not have a wrinkle.
This song captures the mystical and spookiness of the vast desert night... JJ gave us all a masterpiece that lingers in the depths of our imaginations.
I'm not really a fan of country or folk music. But man, this shows the profound and sensitive knowledge of Mr Cale for music. The instruments, the arrangements, the textures. All is perfect. Someone who truly loved music.
What a resume’ for a song writer!!! Eric Clapton’s cover of,”Cocaine”. and Lynerd Skynyrd’s,”Call Me the Breeze”and his work with Leon Russel, and countless others, hats off to Mr. JJ CALE🎼💫🎸⭐️
Very fortunate and thankful to have seen J.J. Cale live 2 times before he passed away. Him and Leon Russell were 2 of the best I ever saw live. The first time in the late 70's at an outdoor concert - Waylon Jennings also on that bill. Also Cheryl Ladd was touring with Waylon's band at the time as a background singer, with a few duets. Some FINE times 😂💪🎸
Wow, JJ and Waylon at the same venue? Do you recall where that was? When it was? Had seen a YT comment once mentioning such an event. Be great to find an old concert lineup bill for that one. Maybe in some old newspapers. Make a cool poster on my wall. BTW... Love Waylon's version of 'Louisiana Woman' here: ruclips.net/video/B_4mrX794ZM/видео.htmlsi=bmpLkvqRc76cUfrQ
@@williamchellis4805 Thanks for your reply. Will let you know what I recall for sure and also a few things I am a bit foggy on looking back. It was an outdoor concert on a Sunday afternoon and it was in central Ohio, 1 hour outside of Columbus. Went there specifically to see J.J. Cale but Waylon Jennings was the headliner and he was awesome too. My best guess is that this was in 1978 or 1979. The part I can't quite remember, but I am pretty sure about, is that Robbie Robertson, of the Band, played there that day also. I never saw a poster for it, just heard about it on the radio -- and it was not part of a big festival or something like that. But now your post has me curious too. I will do some research and find it -- and if you see anything on it please post it. J.J. was everything you might expect -- times 10 ! Christine Lakeland was not with him then, but I did see her too, another time later, with J.J.
Never got to see the great man ,I picked up this vynl record back in the 70s with a racoon dressed up .wow never tired of listening to him .Thanks for posting
This is probably one of my favs. Psychedelic tune. Flow with the music. JJ is one of the masters. This music taste, smells, sounds, looks and feels soooo goood! Enjoy Life! Keep Jammin!
OnE time, I took a pause to acknowledge an old favorite, JJ Cale. I hadn’t listened to his music or thought about him in quite a while, but in that very moment, I heard a train go by. I NEVER hear the trains go by near where I live. I was certain it was JJ Cale, saying “hey there.” 👋🏼
Im a big fan of all his music because my mum and dad told me about him, it’s our family connection, goosebumps everywhere when listening en makes me feel like I’m in a deep state of meditation. Grtz from Holland.
As a biker kid . Back in the day 1980.i was 6yrsold.i sat up on the table in the corner of the room.(that's where the record player was and albums) Now .. In the middle of them room was a12 foot marble table where a poker game that went on for days even weeks. So.i would hold up albums in the air and if I got thumbs up by the fellow brothers I'd play it. I know every band to this day. And the JJ Cale album shelter(raccoon on front) was the most played and 7 fell in love with the damn music. This man is laid back singing and playing... So I learned it at 7 and to this day i still play it. He influenced me to want to play. Then I met Hank Garland and was taught by him. May the two best rest in peace
One more time I’m going to listen to you one more time I listen to you like seven times in a row. You’ve been a great positive influence on my evening. I love you guys.
I have loved JJ since the 70's. Always been on my playlist. This is SUPERB music... thank you so much. Oh, I saw him back in the day. Most laid back concert ever. Just him on a stool under a red light on a totally black stage. PURE. That was all I could feel, just pure music. He was a conduit to another level of resonance.

Kind of sounds like Steely Dan music
@@raymondtorales5810 but way more low-key and cooler, JJ style. Though Steely Dan are awesome in their own unique right. Such a gem of a band, too.
After extensive listening to his songs from the 1st album, I've never heard a bad one.
I used to play JJ Cale in the early 80's on my stereo in the Army barracks. Without exception , everyone asked who that was.

I figure listening to the music is honoring the artist !
Discovered JJ just two months ago. Now he's one of my most listened to.
I just found him and I can tell ima be listening to him for a long time
Listen to “Reality” live in ‘83. Way beyond cool. His wife, Christine’s version of “My Baby Blues” capture JJ’s spirit well.
its real and pure music i love that kind off musicians 👍👍👍mark
Welcome to the coolest warm breeze.
The same with me!
This EXCELLENT instrumental adds yet another classic to Cale's repertoire. Mysterious and intriguing and oh so SMOOVE!
One of music's most underrated songwriters & players... true authenticity flows out of him so naturally.
'Under-appreciated,' maybe, but he was never 'underrated.'
No Sh*t!!
Underrated my arse ! The most overused word on the Tube.
