Ohhh, I remember those days. My oldest is 14 now & she went through the same thing with her hair around the same age. We had to do a major cut. She rocked her "Edna Bob" & then went the box braids route. She now loves her knotless & her hair is flourishing after babying it for a few years.
I think the locs will be beautiful on her! She's such a beauty already & they truly are versatile!

I think locs will be beautiful on her. She’ll love them as they grow.
    Tips/ Notes:
Locs are meant to be frizzy and wild. It’s literally a journey.
Frequent retwist causes thinning and breakage.
Stay away from heavy products and oils-causes buildup & breakage.
Spray them daily with water as if you’re watering your plant.
Tight styles causes breakage- allow them to be free and do whatever.
    Never compare.
Congratulations on your journey little mama and welcome! ❤️

I had to emphasize this to my son. He has locs and he allowed his girlfriend to twist his hair and because she has been watching all of the self-proclaimed loctitians on Instagram, she twisted his roots way too tight and caused some breakage and major scalp issues. I had locs myself for years and I also had to embrace them without constantly trying to beat them into submission.

Trust me, My daughter who will be 10 in January has some of the same desires and mannerisms. She definitely only has a few styles that she asks for, and has also expressed an interest in having locs. You’re a great mom for considering her feelings and ideas and prioritizing those to make sure she feels seen and heard. Funny thing is, my baby boy from age 2-4 had locs that I started myself which now are cut that he’s 6. But you know and this is just food for thought, should you and her decide to loc her hair you could still wash and condition them, do braid outs, twists outs, and so many more styles I could imagine those gifted hands doing so be encouraged hun. 💕 The Sky is the limit, and as you mentioned your baby girl is still a lose natural so you’ll have two canvases to navigate back and forth on to continue to soil your creativity and skills on. I’m here for it.
All love and positivity your way

My daughter is 11 and I understand completely. I put micro-locs in her hair over a year ago because she does not like getting her hair done. It has grown tremendously and can be combed out in the event that here mind changes. I recommend and encourage getting them...not just because I specialize in installing them.😊 But, there are tons of style options with them as well.

  • @giftedmilliondollarmindset2447
    @giftedmilliondollarmindset2447 7 месяцев назад +7

She looks so adorable! I love, respect and appreciate the way you have approached her hair challenges and journey. Thankfully prior to her summer enjoyment her hair was healthy and chemical free. The combination of the chemicals and or frequent washing would have been a real disaster to try and correct. It is so vitality important especially at her current age that she have confidence and a positive self image. I understand your reluctance regarding Locs because it is a style that unless you aren’t afraid to literally do a big chop, you are and have to be fully vested in the care and maintenance over several years. I personally feel sad seeing very young children wearing Locs when it’s obvious that the decision to wear them was made before they understood the impact on their identity and personal comfort. I do however love the progression of creativity now being showcased on both men and especially women. Thank you for having such great content featuring styles that promote gorgeous looks. I look forward to seeing future posts.

My son is 11, just started middle school, but before he started, during the summer, he wanted locs. I’ve always had his hair cut low or curly temple faded. He’s on his loc journey now. Every few weeks I ask him if he’s still loving his locs, and he says yes. I’m like okay, just checking.❤ I’m excited for her hair journey.

My 11 year old cut his locs because “everyone at school had them” I said “boy so what, who cares” but we went ahead n got a temp fade. He said he may grow them back if everyone starts to cut their locs off. 🤷‍♀️ He has to go against the grain.

My hair color is exactly the same. And yes you are so right.....My hair absorbs moisture like crazy. In the past when I experienced breakage. I just grab a big bottle of hot oil treatment from my local beauty supply. I did hot oil treatments with every wash to get my hair back healthy. This stopped my hair from breaking any further.

I don't think it looks good on her. She needs more thicker braids.

You just don’t want her to get locs because you know you could’ve done better than that. Gonna have that girl walking around self-conscious because you purposely messed up her hair. Locs would look beautiful on her but you want to make braiding videos selfishly.

Feels like you didn't listen to what she was actually saying. The hair turned out fine for giving the child an idea of what locs could look like, and as the days go by and her hair absorbs moisture it will be even more apparent.

That’s foolish! You clearly was not listening and she actually loved the style and had me do it for a second time. If I wanted to force my kids to get their hair done for content, you would be seeing a video drop every week. Go down the last 6 months and see how many videos you see of my kids! Hang up that narrative and move along!

I see nothing selfish here. It’s actually a bonus to switch it up and allow us to see different kid styles as well but majority of the content is adult heads being styled on the channel.
Let’s bring positive feedback and not toss around negative narratives concerning what my sis and her daughter have going on with her hair. God has blessed her with raw talent and by all means her daughters hair will continue to flourish. 🙏🏾 Amen
