The same mistake was done in the case of Russia - Nord Stream - ( and in my particular case also ) we thought that if they were very well treated they would respond accordingly in a friendly way .

I don't see any alllies America can claim in the region except South Korea and Japan .
Phillipines is increasingly getting perturbed and apparently ASEAN countries are not happy with its pro US stance .
Taiwan should be very cautious . China
has more industrial capacity than Europe, North America and Japan put together . It's ship building capacity is 236 times that of America .
Over the years the Americans have been aware of the Chinese build up and yet they have been content to be left behind . They never did that during the cold war . It's extremely hard to imagine that they'd go to war with China in its backyard over anything less than a direct attack on America .
I think Taiwan should observe Ukraine carefully .
If that war ends with Ukraine having to concede territory and the US not putting out its own troops on the ground , that should be hint enough for
    Taiwan .

Why prepare for a deterrent now?
    What?
    When do you prepare?

This guy is full of bullshit, EXAMPLE: In 1973 when Gerald Ford was president George Bush Snr was appointed as Director of the CIA and went on to become Govenor of Texas and US Prsident in 1989 while his son , Geo Bush Jr became president in 2001, not sure if that don't seem like conintuity of power - it sure does to me.NEXT: Technology Transfer: The US is sharing its crown jewels with Australia? YES it is ..BUTTTTTTTTTT it is a two way street with Australia as the Australians were the first to make a scram jet work and gave THIS to the US , whose NASA just could NOT make a scram jet work. Lots of other examples. I dont think the US has ever been naive. Take what this guy says with a grain of salt. Not saying ANY thing good about China, but the USA aint a saint.

Long ago, before Kissinger brown-nosed Chou En-lai, normal, no-nonsense journalists used to define post WWII Taiwan as a US protectorate. US-DOS used to regularly remind the US Congress of the undetermined international status of Taiwan.
Taiwan is neither independent nor a country nor Chinese. Taiwan is a territory split from Japan waiting for its inhabitants to wake up from their own US-DOS-induced domestic China nightmare and claim their UN Charter-ordained right of self-determination. While the island population procrastinates, the international status of the territory remains undetermined.
Instead of finagling a first strike from the Chinese as they did with Japan eighty years ago, when will US-DOS deign shedding its dissembling streak and tell the world the truth of post-WWII Taiwan?

Once in Gibrartar talking with a high rank British official there was an international thief who had stolen millions of US$ . He kept on stealing . I told him how supid the thief was by keeping on stealing " they will finally catch him , with all the money he has already stolen he can invest it and he will never be caught " . He answered " you say that because you are not a thief , but he IS a thief " . Finally he was caught and sent to jail . Thanks regards , bye .
