Alicent trying to understand Haeleas fascination for bugs and sitting next to her bored is so funny. It's is like when a kid trys to explain mincraft to their parent todayxD
I know he’s sort of a twat and all, but I love how Otto definitely has a soft spot for Helaena. He also looks happy when Aegon is crowned. He loves his grandkids, however power hungry he is.
@IzabellaRequiem In the books(no idea if this was even hinted in the show), Helaena was Viserys's FAVORITE of the Green dragons 🐉 They even bond more than most
In the books, she has a close relationship with her father. In fact, the night before he passes we are told that she brought her kids to him as she did everynight before bed-time so Viserys could tell them stories of his time riding Balerion. But that night after the tale he felt undisposed and excuse himself to go rest, they left and Viserys died in his sleep.
She reminds me Sansa in some moments, being scared and shaking in fear of probably Aegon It feels like Haelena is mostly scared of moments when he’s drunk and comes to her bedroom, therefore the moments when he ignores her are like a relief
lmao what are you talking about she is literallly smiling after talking about aegon at the dinner, while she plays with a bug/toy HE gave her stop making up nonsense
@lifeofphobia honestly, I agree with OP comment. I don't think Haleana's smile was one of happiness, I think that was just a default expression. I wouldn't say she was SCARED of him, but I highly doubt that she's happy around him. You seem to he focusing on the fact that she was smiling after her speech, but ignore what she was actually saying in the speech.
@@lifeofphobiashe smiles because of her nature, you have to listen to her words and how harrowing what she said was, that’s why everyone around her is uncomfortable.

Middle aged Helaena seems very secure and all knowing. Older Helaena seems very scattered and anxious. Maybe a display of it getting harder and harder to feel so isolated with her thoughts
She’s a seer. The older she gets, the closer she gets to the Dance of Dragons. I take her change in demeanor as a growing sense of panic that events are happening as she’s foreseen them happen.
I teach a lot of students with ASD. Helaena’s traits are just… too similar to me… I’ve observed her mannerisms in my own classroom. Her unflinching candor, sensory overload and affection for specific things are just…too familiar… lol…

Poor haelena for what's coming for her, she's just innocent as a sheep and yet she was dragged in upcoming war. The blacks' are not so innocent either, it's viserys fault for neglecting his 2nd family they didn't get a chance to love them like rhaenyra.
Viserys was a Foolish King, he taught nothing to his heir or his son........they both are clueless honestly, Rhaenyra is no better than Aegon when it comes to politics. She is worried about losing sons in the war BRUH that's basic, get over it, you need people to fight. Or just give up, and hope they don't come after you LOL.
Honestly these scenes gave me a soft spot for Alicent. The part where Alicent is sitting bored while Helaena explains the bugs and their legs reminds me of me explaining my interests to my mom when I was a kid. She was probably so bored and didn’t understand but tried her best to be interested
“It is our fate, I think, to always crave what is given to another. If one possesses a thing, the other will take it away.” Helaena trying to understand the reason as to why Aegon was crowned.
I don't like Alicent much but she really didn't want this life she looked so done even in the first scene trying to get baby Helaena to be quiet. Girls in that time period were forced to grow up too quickly.
Yes, though I don't know if she has some sort of formally designated condition that people in our world can have, if that's what you meant. But her neurodivergence relates to cognitive abilities. She seems to miss a lot of social cues, such as failing to notice her mother's boredom when they were talking about an insect and of course when she stated awkward and uncomfortable details about her marriage with Aegon at the family dinner table. Her attempts at expressing herself are also often vague and confusing. I can't tell if she realizes this and doesn't care all the time or if she just doesn't notice (I don't recall others asking her for clarification in scenes I remember where she was very vague in meaning though, hm). She seems like she tends to be disinterested in what's going on around her (not as much when it comes to her children perhaps though) in favor of something in particular she's interested in if it's present, like insects. It seemed like she was very interested in small details about insects, like the number of legs and eyes they had. Her interest in insects appeared strong at least in her scenes as a kid. She comes off as living in her own world, though again, not quite as much when she's grown... It's interesting to me that she expresses her dreamer sights as riddles. It makes me wonder what she "sees" when she has a dreamer sight. I can't tell if her neurodivergence mostly pertains to social skills and attention (what she focuses on, when, and how intensely so, like when she focused on insects amidst a funeral and ignored everything going on around her) or if it's more encompassing. To compare her traits to something "earthly" she sort of makes me think of ASD, though my knowledgeable of ASD is to a more "textbook" extent (I'm not an expert).
@@kurliigurlii Based on what I've seen of her, I'd definitely consider that in our modern-day culture she'd likely be diagnosed with some form of autism.
I can relate to Helaena. I've autism and epilepsy but don't know if it counts as neuro-divergence. But, I'm a lot more comfortable in the internet to express abstract concepts and to have an opinion. I also don't like being touched and I murmur sometimes. The weird part is I have visions and gut feelings that comes true.
Daeron Targaryen, alicent 3rd son must have seen his parents forcing his siblings to marry each other and dipped to oldtown to search for his beautiful Dornish Martell bride 👰♂!!
