Straight to the point. Thanks a lot!
Thank you very helpful!
Having a medium format camera in such a small package is really tempting!
Do it!!! Its an awesome camera.
@@NicosPhotographyShow I might actually :) Maybe you can elaborate a little how the GA645 compares to the GS645 in your hands-on video. Of course it has no auto focus or auto wind features, but as a compact 645 camera with a folding/retracting design, they are quite similar in my opinion. :)
@@fritzlimo Be aware that the knob he is turning to advance the film and change the ISO can be finicky! I have the newer, GA645i and sometimes mine will just keep winding itself - there's something wrong with the switch. Also the ISO will jump around and drive you insane. I intended to shoot mine in aperture priority, however, with that finicky dial I said 'F it' and just put it in Program mode.
fritzlimo glad I saw this! I’m eyeing a ga645i
@@AetherCS2 There's a 'fix' for it I've seen. It involves popping the top plate off and cleaning excess oil from under the dial. People have had success, however, I've not tried it.
Looking forward to hear about your experience with it in the next video. Mine is on the way over. Talking about perfect timing.
Cant wait to film asap.
I was watching this in my unboxing video, shout out to nico thank u for this tutorial 😭🙏🏼
Happy to help!
Thanks 🎉
Great video, thanks! I have a question: I didn’t lock up the left spool button while loading the film so now the film is loaded but one of the buttons (bottom left) is out. Can I still shoot that roll or will have have issues? Thanks in advance!
It will work ok, but the pics might be a little unsquared in relation to the roll, should be fine. Its happened to me many times on the Mamiya 7.
Hello Nico! Thanks for your youtube-activity! I watch everything with pleasure and excitement. I have a question/ problem with my GA645W when using Lomography REDSCALE XR. Thing is, when loading the XR to the GA it doesnt stop at the first frame (like it does with any other 120 Film) but advances the film to its very end. Do you (or anyone) have any information or experience on this topic!? THX in advance for your kind answer. Best regards and greetings from Austria, Kubi
That is interesting, the redscale is film loaded the opposite way, but the camera shouldnt care about that. Probably something you wont be able to over ride!
@@NicosPhotographyShow Result is... i can shoot any 120 Film in the GA. Just not Lomography Redscale XR. :-( ... Thanks so much for your words and info. Best Regards, Kubi
I’ve been thinking of getting one of these
Im using this one for a bit and its awesome. Just developed that roll today. Inception
We need to sort out a darkroom workshop I’ll do you soon
After threadng the paper leader into the take-up spool, you do not have to advance the leader and film to the "start" mark on the backing as shown here. This camera has a sensor which auto-loads the film to the first frame. Just thread the leader on the takeup and close the camera back.
I followed the manual from Fuji. But There is not much of a difference probably. Still get 15 shots on this model.
I think that is only the case for Fuji branded film. Actual Fuji film is also DX coded for this camera. If you put Kodak in it, you have to set the ISO yourself. I have the newer 'i' model - I get 16 shots per roll.
@@klaushuxley3342 the i model gets 16 shots and reads Fuji codes, the OG 645 gets 15 shots and does not read the codes.
@@MikeLikesChannel I knew that! DX coding only works for Fuji branded film. Kodak still requires you to set the ISO manually.
@@NicosPhotographyShow My error of sorts. The auto-loading with an internal sensor to set the "start" point of a new roll of film was a feature added in the later "i" model variations. I suspect that this went together with the precise loading required to squeeze 16 shots from a 120 roll, rather than the 15 exposures delivered with the "non i" versions. These earlier versions still required manual indexing of the :start" mark on the roll backing with an index point inside the camera, like almost all roll film cameras.
How do I switch to 220 after I’ve already loaded the film?
it has to be before you load the film
Was literally looking into getting one 😂
Do it. Its a MF point and shoot. Flash built in and sharrrrp lens. Awesome meter too.
Nicos Photography Show I have an RZ and I’m thinking about selling it. Not sure whether to get a GA645 or a Contax G1. I’m looking to downgrade b/c of how pricy it is to shoot with 6x7 format.
@@AetherCS2 dont go the G1 route unless you love out of focus shots. The GA645 is a nice middle point. Focus is not Nikon D6 but it works well.
Nicos Photography Show thanks for the help man!
