The Cherry Red Remixes & Rarities CD was brilliant. Fantastic that BMG are now finally giving the TT back catalogue the recognition it deserves. I pre-ordered the 3CD, Red Vinyl LP & Hold Me Now Remixes CD when they were first announced and pre-ordered the SDE Dolby Atmos set last week. Next year is the 40th Anniversary of Here's To Future Days so hopefully there will be a 40th anniversary re-issue of that album too. Unfortunately we missed the 40th anniversary of QSASK in 2023 - but it would be good to have a 42nd anniversary re-issue of that album next year too! Hopefully ITG40 will do really well and encourage BMG to do more with the TT back catalogue in the future.
Content-wise the Cherry Red reissue was great, but unfortunately they killed the dynamic range of the original recording, making it sound much worse. Why do engineers always do this???
Look forward to hearing this, 'You Take Me Up' was my first single purchase, 'Quick Step' is definitely a favourite LP but I also came to love the earlier two LPs very much, particularly the guitar based stuff that they had down so well on those early recordings, would have loved to have seen the original 7/5 piece band performing live...
Yeah, echoing what others have said - the "Remixes & Rarities" CD was a godsend in terms of the content. I'm always glad to see fans and those in the know get involved with reissues to provide fans content they really want. Also...those of us out there that visit your site and buy from it TRUST YOU when it comes to content like this.
I must say that surround mix of Into the Gap is amazing! It gave me the feeling as if I was listening ITG for the first time. The album in surround trully comes alive. It’s like being in a studio or a concert, but not really. It’s like being in Tom Bailey’s head while he was imagining the album! Thank you SDE for a fantastic release. When can we expect more of Thompson Twins in surround by David Kosten?
I am so excited for this release! Into the Gap and Quick Step and Side Kick are two of my favourite albums as well (I have them both on vinyl in as new condition which were originally purchased when they were released from a record store in Adelaide) - I ripped the lyrics pages out of old Smash Hits magazines (which I also still have). I can't wait for these - I'm opting for the CD set and coloured vinyl (because why not).
Have ordered the blu ray and can't wait to hear it.... The atmos much of Hold Me Now that has popped up on streaming is just amazing. Please do look at doing the other albums and also "Into The Gap Live" which would be brilliant to have in HD/surround etc
It was a fantastic idea to remix Into the Gap into Dolby Atmos surround. I can't wait to hear it! Since these are primarily for fans and on pre-order concept, I believe you have the market for ALL Thompson Twins albums, incl. the newer ones Close to the Bone, Big Trash & Queer.
Imagine a dolby atmos mix of the two Babble album with the inclusion of the half of a third Babble album the record company have or are at least in control of. There are fans out there who would kill for that 🙂
I love Babble. So underrated. I second your request for those albums. Also, I quite like the underrated 'Queer' album. 'Come Undone' was a great song. :)
@martinjeeves444 a friend asked Tom about Babble before a there is unreleased music and he said something sort of like that was in the hands of the record company. Have you heard the Babble track Dark Raven? Because that was given to a magazine called Passion Magazine and was included as a track in a free CD on the cover. And I think Dark Raven would have been included on a third Babble album had it been released.
Purchased the Blu Ray Audio Dolby Atmos Disk. It was a no brainer for me. I have been a big fan of Thompson Twins since I was a teenager back in the eighties. I absolutely love the 80's decade for music, and I hope that more of that decade's music gets the Dolby Atmos treatment. I look forward to this. I have a full high end Dolby Atmos audio system with 4 x 12" SVS Subs in each corner of my living room 4x height channels & 7 full range floor speakers connected to a Marantz Cinema 40 Home receiver and an Oppo 203 Blu Ray player. All your other Blu-Ray audio Atmos disks which I have bought from SDE shop sound fantastic, so I have no doubts that this one will be great to. Thx for your hard work Paul. You are appreciated.
I think that Kim Wilde's fourth album "teases & dares" would benefit from an atoms mix as there are so many great effects which are unfortunately buried in the original mix.
@@theunknown9437 Definitely. It's a very atmospheric album... 'Shangri La' and 'BladeRunner' are superb. I always thought 'The Touch' was a poor single choice though.
I used to have Quick Step and Into The Gap on proper cassette back in the day. I had 'Here's' on double vinyl I bought in Elephant And Castle centre. The lot has been sold. So I'm glad you are slowly bringing the first half of the 80s Synthpop / Electronic era back to a new audience as well as 'uncle Albert's' like me. I paid a premium on eBay for quick on 1cd & Gap on 2cd. Today, the 'twins' seemed to have been a little forgotten. Which saddens me. And you have made me realise about some artists' 3rd albums. All those artists you described did have great first two outings. While the third is lacklustre. I think it's cos when they got really famous - maybe record companies wanted to sell more units? Look at ABC? Lexicon is a masterpiece. Beauty Stab is an underrated gem. Then comes 'Zillionaire'. See what I mean? It would be just fantastic if the early Depeche Mode albums came on a Blu-ray. Cos their 5.1 albums cost an arm and several legs these days. Scalpers, grr. Keep up the great work from a fellow melomaniac. Cap doffed.
Tom Bailey did a very short tour earlier this year to play Into The Gap in its entirety. It was fab to hear my favourite album from the 80s live for the first time in 40 years. I'm looking forward to this release a lot!
I saw Tom back in 2014 when he first started playing Thompson Twins material again. It was roughly the same time that we did Remixes and Rarities. Cheers.
I think this great channel should do a future Unboxing of Duran Duran's upcoming album boxset "Danse Macabre De Luxe" I would like to see it later 🙏🏻🙏🏻🍀
Really looking forward to this SDE Blu-ray release, I have I think i have about 14 of the SDE Blu-ray Audio discs and they are amazing, Really top work Paul 👍👍👍 Since you have a strong relationship with BMG , is there any chance of a Gary Numan /Tubeway Army SDE Blu-ray Atmos Audio Exclusive, that would blow my mind......
It's great to see this seminal album (and one that was a huge part of my life in 1984) get a proper reissue treatment. You didn't mention the 2016 Vinyl180 reissues that were good but limited. It will be great if QSASK gets the same treatment soon 🙂
Incredible that the disc contains 3 stereo masters, including the original. Nice job! Looking forward to the FGTH blu-ray as well. Please consider a 40th anniversary blu-ray for Rah Bands Mystery in 2025 including a new mix by Mr. Wilsen / Kosten. In terms of new music the upcoming Few Bits album is on top of my wishlist. Also DM's Memento Mori / New Order Substance including dynamic not limited stereo mixes 😅
Exactly... even if you are not set up for surround/atmos at this present moment, there's plenty of stereo content, including the 30 bonus tracks of course!
Hi Paul so looking forward to it I've ordered everything. I already own the two Hojo Blu-ray, The Lexicon Of Love and Keane Hopes And Fears. So glad I got a Samsung dolby atmos sound bar within the last year. Hope this does well as I'll 100% buy any future TT releases. A few years ago a friend gave me a version of Hold Me Now that was titled early demo version. He couldn't remember where he got it from. When I listened to it this version was different enough to warrant inclusion on a CD release. Different enough to be excited about. This mix hard to describe has extra percussion drums and instrumentation at the start and through the song and more echo in Tom's voice. I'd heard previous versions of Hold Me Now that might be labeled or considered demo versions but they where like the one you heard on Top On The Pops not like the one this friend gave me. If it's included somewhere on this new box set or Blu-ray great. But I'm so pleased this is coming out.
Thanks! Sadly there are no demo versions included in the selection of bonus tracks that BMG pulled together, but there are some interesting unreleased Pete Hammond 12" mixes!
@sdedition thanks. Still great though far more than I imagined. Knew the Blu-ray was on the horizon hut wasn't expecting to get a three CD set and coloured vinyl as well.
Still got my LP issues (and K7 for Into the gap) ("Quick Step & Side Kick" & "Into The gap" from the old days (bough in 1984) still in perfect condition. The edition from Paul looks a bit used ;)

@@sdedition time wil learn Paul, we can only hope indeed, same for back catalog from Crowded House and many more. For now I am very satisfied with the ongoing serie in general. Let's see what the future brings. Maybe you have some suprises coming out the hat.
That "Remixes & Rarities" CD is absolutely STELLAR. The way remix packages should be treated. Thank you so much for being involved! 🧡
Thank you!
"Quick Step & Side Kick" would be a welcome follow-up reissue! 😃
Really hope we can do that one. Depends on the success of Into The Gap!
@@sdedition I have a feeling it will do well - fingers crossed. Thank you for putting in all this work to help bring these reissues out, Paul!
I couldn't agree more!!! Would be wicked to have QSASK given the same treatment!
Always loved the sound of the bass on the two Alex Sadkin albums. I think it's a synth, but it's so fluid it sounds like a real bass. Genius!
It's, an Oberhim OBXA.
