Honestly, I'd be pretty pissed too if everyone kept referring to me as the opposite sex.
It took my Yellow Sided Conure 2 years to finally make peace with my Mom and not be trying to bite her hands and ears all the time. Now they're best friends and he'll 'camp out' on her head, watch her working and take long naps curled up against her neck. Must be all the fruit she bribed him with 😂

My adopted African Grey parrot was in a sanctuary for three years after his original owner died. He refused to bond with anyone until we met. He's been my spoiled little boy for nine years. He makes my life better by being in it.

These birds are incredibly intelligent and one thing people do not know is that these pets need tons of attention around the clock. These are not just birds who sit by themselves in a cage like finches or canaries. These birds have an intelligence that needs to be tended to. In the wild they have other bird flocks, but when we adopt one of these birds we have to be prepared to constantly tend to these animals.
It is one of those things that many people do not know.

I called both of my girls turtle when they were growing up. My oldest was turtle dove and my youngest was little turtle. ❤️ they are both adults and I have my bird his name is chubby. My little chubby and I love him more than I do my girls 😎

I'm glad this bird found a forever home. But i hate when people just abandon animals. Why not just just talk to the pet shop and surrender the bird directly to them.

You can get charged with animal abandonment and if you ask and they turn you down, then they know who did it.
While not birds, I have adopted two rabbits that free roam my house from the Humane Society. Both had been abandoned and found outside. I notice my local Humane Society also has birds too. Always, check out your local animal shelters before buying a pet from a store or breeder. There are so many pets that are loving and caring and need a second chance at a forever home.

I thought there was a huge moth flapping its wings behind my curtains yesterday so I peeked round like 😱😨😱 and it was a tiny little bird , I was so relieved lol.. Opened the window and it flew away 😍

I don’t know how someone could abandon an animal let alone a Caique. We have a white bellied Caique called Koda, he’s almost a year old and we love him so much. It’s like having a puppy he just wants to constantly play, be in on and under everything. He runs around the house and has to be where we are. We love taking him on outings with his harness on, he gets so much attention from strangers everyone loves him.
I miss my bird so much. He was just a clown. It’s amazing how loving and how much personality these little creatures have. Bless you guys for adopting him/her. ❣️

Some pet stores will charge a fee to take back animals (or not at all) because of all the tests they need to do on the animal to make sure they don't pass anything onto the existing animals.

I would say one smart bird, animals like people who have been abused have flashbacks of those who have been abusive so I'm thinking that they are having some PTSD moments yes animals do suffer from that ask any Vet this
Plucking feathers can be the most visible evidence for that... and of course, when you accept that animals have feelings (and why would you not?), that includes all the sad and bad ones with all the consequences. 😞

You have to crush their egos early on or you can have a monster on your hands. Once you whittle a caique's ego down to a manageable size they are probably the best pet parrot🦜.

Caiques are not for begginers they are really noisy and intelligent - means they are really "assholes" when they are stressed or too excited. Videos usually show only their "cute" side so i guess owners just couldn't take their screams and energy :c

You need to be very patient with birds. Not all of them become cuddle monsters, but you can tame them.

My caique loves electric toothbrushes too, and I bought a cheap one that uses AAA batteries just for her.
Most electric tooth brushes have interchangeable brushes. I'm sure she is intelligent enough to know not to use the same brush she uses on her teeth.

(I am very much an african grey person :) even my macaw -> who is a rescue and a couchpotato, is driving me up the walls sometimes with her seemingly neverending need for attention/interaction up close. The greys are way better at entertaining themselves i.m.h.o. and also comment/communicate from a distance, not touchy-feely up close all the time. But that could be an individual trait of course, al my birds are kicked out of serveral previous homes 'for reasons' and are a bit nuts to begin with.)

I have a cat named Caribou, lol... named in memory of a childhood cat named Elk, who was named that because he looked exactly like a previous family cat (who I don't remember) named Moose. I always said if I ever got another cat marked like them (grey tiger w/ white chest, belly & paws), I'd name it Caribou... nicknames could be Cari or Bou-Bou Kitty, and it works for male or female. We adopted him about 5 months ago... he's a good cat... knows his new name now too (the shelter called him Orzo, bleh).

Not if you rinse your floor, which you should do regardless of the cleaning product. Unless it specifically states that it's non toxic to pets.
