Tourism in Manila is on the rise. Different nationalities are seen touring the historic walled city of Intramuros.
Major tourist drawcards such as Fort Santiago, San Agustin Church and Casa Manila are popular spots among local and foreign visitors.
In 2023, about 5.45 million international tourists arrived in the Philippines, reflecting a significant increase from the previous year's total. The number of international tourists arriving to the country plummeted between 2019 and 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions and has only started showing signs of recovery in the previous two years.
The Walled City of Intramuros is one of the top tourist spots in Manila. In 2020, the historic walled city of Intramuros has emerged as Asia's leading tourist attraction in the 2020 World Travel Awards, besting such world-class landmarks as India’s Taj Mahal and the Great Wall of China.
This is the second time the Philippine destination won the title after getting the award in 2016. Last year, Intramuros was nominated again for the 'World's Leading Tourist Attraction' award.
Last year, Manila was named the “World’s Leading City Destination” for the first time ever at the World Travel Awards 2023.

So awesome to see more foreigners visiting intramuros. I hope they can restore more buildings or even start a historical tour to show the Philippines' rich history.
When we first visited in 2006 there were only a handful foreigners. Our tour guide was Carlos Celdran. As a 7 year old i didn't care much about its history or how deeply connected my Filipino side with the area but i was really captivated by how animated and passionate Carlos was. It's unfortunate that he passed away. Our entire clan will be visiting this summer. My lola and remaining siblings haven't stepped foot in intramuros since leaving the Philippines in 1950.

Sana pagtuunan din ng pansin at i-promote ng gobyerno ang EduTourism (Education Tourism). Malaki ang potential ng Pilipinas para dito. Maraming foreigners ang gustong mag aral sa PIlipinas kagaya ng English courses, Nursing at Medicine. Mura daw kasi at madali ang admission sa mga school at universities dito.

yung mapa may maliit na picture nung lugar.... example a small church w/ a cross for a church, spoon n fork for restaurants, cup of coffee for a cafe, etc...this is what like in Europe n in rich countries like Greece, France or US , tourist are given flyers especially in visiting museum

Dapat siguro mga aircon na tranvia gamit diyan para sa mga tourists lalo na pag ganitong summer, kahit sanay tayo sa ganitong init pero sa mga turisra ay dapat naka aircon ang pamsmasyal nila diyan. Delikado pa sa heat stroke sa tindi ng init

Let's not waste our time complaining about the hanging spaghetti wires because they're here to stay in the foreseeable future. The stakeholders should also focus on transforming Intramuros into a greener landscape because in reality the area looks a barren swath of concrete landscape.

Maganda dyan ayusin at train na maging tourist friendly ang mga trike and calesa operators may ID nakasabit sa mga sasakyan, at limit sa singil. Kung maayos ang service mag tip naman mga turista.

The electric wires are making Intramuros ugly. There's also a slum area there when you goes further inside which makes it not appealing to the tourist.
Ayoko magreklamo pero ang chaka nung Mercadillo... Sana mas strict sila sa aesthetic. Pwede naman na ata ilipat sa currently unused parking lot sa tapat ng Memorare. Yun lang (and of course the spaghetti wires)

Kaunting panahon pa para totally masabing tourist destination ang Intramuros, Manila, marami pang dapat ayusin ang Intramuros Admin. at DOT.mga buildng na kupas na dapat e repaint at ayusin, mga illegal vendors na nakakalusot pa rin at pumupwesto sa loob nang Intramuros, etrikes, tricycle, Pedicabs, illegal vendors should be banned inside the Intramuros perimeter and other open spaces, illegal settlers should be relocated, more plants and trees to be planted in the parks, more benches for tourist, more pavements should be replaced by spanish bricks.
Sana relocate ang Comelec HQ outside Intramuros para wla nang rally dyan before and after elections.
