We use the tig welder to remove dowels and broken bolts for over 30 years now. Never had seen honing the rods to increase rod bearing clearance. That would affect the crush 🤔. Piston coating looked great. Keep making the Ford videos. Thanks from Texas USA.
I do like the look of the belt drive system. Me, I have always been a double roller cam guy, but I am also old. I do like this new tech system. I am not afraid of belts. Thanks Kyle!
word of the wise... don't ever let that "muriatic acid" stay in the shop, no matter how tight you think its sealed, it will rust everything. put it outside away from anything metal (in a safe place)
Kyle . Retired maintance welder ,all my life . Put down a flat washer slightly smaller than stud , when stud is broke off below surface. . Makes it easier to weld . Then drop the nut on top and weld . Nut to stud. Works awesome on threaded bolt as you gab a wrench an unwind the broken bolt out. Even better if there is a little bolt sticking up ,use the correct washer to snugly fit around bolt . as you get a strong weld to washer. Then can if you have to grind washer flat and smooth , drop the nut on top . Try it you will like it lol. Never miss a video of your , thanks
Muriatic acid works great for burning melted aluminum off cylinder walls. Do keep the container sealed up though as the fumes will rust any bare steel within 100 yards.
My old boss used it to clean the oil/grease spots in our lift bays. Just dumped a little bit down push it around with a broom then spray it out the door with water it cleaned the floors very well.
@@danmyers9372 There are some nice chem storage cupboards available that aren't super expensive. We use them in labs, and I have two in my shop at home with one venting outside for acids and bases, and one being sealed mainly for solvents and flammables. I personally find that to be a better solution than having things outside where temperatures, weather and such can cause other problems to either containers or the chemical inside. A bit geeky, but it's nice to work in a shop where things are easily accessible but also safe.

Just a bit of advice, if you take the nut and use a countersink on the drill press it will open so you can get in deeper and put more heat in the bolt/pin

That timing set is badass! I used a Danny b on my small block ford. I had the stock style cover with a motor plate and the Danny b came with perfect sized spacers and it went right back in the same place. It worked perfect.
One tip when mounting the water pump. On the 4 long bolts beside putting thread sealer on the bolts. Also put heat shrink tubing on the shafts . To help bolts from corroding to water pump. Makes it easier to remove on next tear down.
I never store Muriatic where you have things that can rust, it can form vapors that will rust every piece of steel in small building. Should not if it is sealed but I just err on the same side and don't store it where things can rust.
Kyle,in the mid 80's,a cartoon that was popular was called the smurfs, and they where blue, similar blue as your car.blueberries, are dark blue, purple color,so,would it be more practical, or fitting I guess,to name your car, after a smurf, and the names are amazing.
Look up the term " dimensional upset" in metallurgy. If you heat metal that is constricted from expanding, it will, actually shrink when cooling. Fun fact for ya.

Good point if you stay within the book dimensions of the big end housing bore you are usually ok but loosing crush is not something I want on an engine that’s gonna spin high rpm and high loads
@ This is just me thinking out load. I first started working on vehicles back in like 1984 ish. This was the first time I’d heard of this being done to clearance bearing, not having custom work like you do. I’m still leaning at 62.

The belt is about the same strength as the chain. But the real advantage this set up has is found in the “stretch” that the belt does have, the harmonics dampening affect of the belt, and it makes it extremely easy to adjust cam timing or change cams all together.
I seen in a previous video he has some Trick flows. The exhaust looked ported. I tried to identify them on the trick flow website, but i needed more info. Hopefully he will reply or show us.
Not necessarily stronger than the chain or gears. But more forgiving of rapid RPM change (like the 2step or rev limiter) thats one of the reasons the cam dowel sheared. That and you’re supposed to use two dowels not one on a high RPM solid roller which i did not do.

How did the line 2 line coating work for u
By opening the big end of the connecting rod. Do you know how much it reduced your bearing crush?

Pool acid, same thing but probably cheaper.
What is the perfect oil clearance in a certain application? Hard to say unless you do a lot of the same. Just my opinion.
Nice work Kiel what block did you start with?
I’d measure the roundness of that cam just in case the heat got to it. Most likely ok but just for a piece of mind
In your experience how many times can you retorque ARP 2000 rod bolts? I did mine 3 times so far on my SBC
Is this a 302 or 351 base block?

Having the rod honed .001 bigger dont affect the crush on the bearings??
