True. Iam not a fan of all his work. But guy knows his old school horror/thrillers. And surprisingly knows action . This was more of a thriller to me. Had some great references to The dark half. Not the best, but really surprisingly good film.
One of the best reviews of this movie. Other channels are being so negative and didn't seem to get what Wan was doing but you guys did and I appreciate you. This movie was so damned good. Wan is a modern master of horror.
That police station scene was so unexpected and came out of nowhere that it surprised the F out of me, i was sitting there with eyes wide open like "this mf about to clean that entire building up" and he actually did and rolled out.
Malignant was nutty in a WTF, I didn't know I needed that kind of way. A straight up horror movie wouldn't and couldn't have scared me, given how seasoned I am. So I'm glad James Wan just decided to have fun.
Gabriel was on his first week out shit he been locked up for years and said I choose violence today. This movie was graphically amazing might I add☠️☠️
This movie was part "Tenet" (because she was moving backward to move forward when Gabriel was in charge), part "Upgrade" and part "I Know What You Did Last Summer". So much fun to watch!!!!!
This was amazing. It was easy to see coming but I was still howling when the reveal came. The police station massacre was insane. Wish I saw it with a crowd
I don’t think it was easy to see coming as I thought it was pretty unpredictable. Yes, things I could see coming but I had no idea how the film would actually play out.
well Gabriel was one of the strongest Archangel in the Bible and the Book of Enoch, so this movie is basically what if he turns rogue and feral lmao XD
I love how they got an actual voice actor to voice Gabriel,Ray Chase is a dub Voice actor,he’s Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen,Puri Puri Prisoner in One Punch Man and a lot of others.
I’m glad y’all enjoyed it because I loved it too! This was a risky, unique, campy, fun, goofy, over the top, and outrageous. And that trailer did not show any of that! James Wan knew what he was doing with this. This was intentional and a blast! Definitely a polarizing film, but I think horror fans and James Wan and movies with wild twists, this the one to watch.
Hell yeah I've been waiting for this review. This movie was absolutely insane especially when it got to the third act and I honestly loved every minute of it. I really appreciate James Wan for doing something this bold, different and somewhat original eventhough I know its not going to be work for everybody, but damn did he pull this off IMO.
Love this movie. The cheesy acting was intentional. This was clearly a love letter to classic late 80s and early 90s horror. With homages to the likes of John Carpenter, Sam Rami, the slasher genre, Re-animator... And James Wan just having a lot of fun with it. This one really took me by surprise and I freaking loved it! It was very refreshing to see a fresh fun new horror movie.
I wanted something fun, interesting and different...this went from potential alien horror, to a potential possession horror, to a potential supernatural stalker horror to body horror madness! Exactly what It wanted, even if I didn't know it.
I loved it. It was fresh and creative. James Wan has some of THE best sets and cinematography in his movies. I could watch the movie again just for the cinematography. What a beautifully shot movie with lots of little tributes to other horror movies. 👏 I thought the institution was exactly like the insane asylum in House on Haunted Hill 1999.
There were some moments in this movie where my wife and I both threw our hands up and said "hold on... What the fuck?". Love those kind of movies. I also got the Upgrade Vibe. But overall this movie was structured and tonally resonant with The Invisible Man. Maybe this is James Wan's way of trying to top Leigh Whannel.
One of the greatest Horrors ever it has one of the highest ratings in horror movie history!!! Plus rumor opens up a potential for a superhero sequel as she has telepathic and supernatural powers adding in the fact she can move faster than bullets basically by dodging em, the theory was her villain could be her brother brought into a different body, or satan who is theoried to be their father which explains the powers and why dad was never shown. It's phenomenal and God one of the most disturbing visuals ever!!!
It started out real unusual but it became really fun to watch. It was awesome. I figured out the twist early but it still had me tripping when it all went down at the police station.
Long time viewer, first time commenter here. Hands down one of the most enjoyable horror movies I’ve seen in a long time, that prison scene will be etched in my mind for long time to come.
About the scene with the birthday cake 15:45 First I thought that Gabriel would kill her parent and put their organs inside the cake and say happy Birthday
There are so many unanswered questions. So just like Saw, The Conjuring and Insidious there will be a Malignant 2 and more until everything is explained.
This movie was great. Honestly it had me going one way then a twist comes then I had to rethink how it was going to end but damn was I surprised. It might not be for everyone but this is definitely a must watch
And it's not just Silent Hill , but when Madison was laying in the bed and Gabrielle was over her it reminded me of that shot from the movie 'Mama' when we saw her backstory
I'm not gonna lie, the police station scene has Me confidence that he should direct the mortal kombat sequel! From beginning to end everyone was getting fatalited left and right.
another top tier scene that wasn't mentioned SPOLIERS the chase scene with the detective when gabe was parkouring down a fire escape BACKWARDS, through alley ways and kicking through walls, then has a fucking fight scene with the cop and crawls away up the ceiling. the cinematogrophy and choreography were top notch
They introduced what happens when you can access more of your brain. He basically was a superhero villain. At the end she realized I do have the power we share the same body. In PT 2 she might learn how to use more of her brain and do the same thing as Gabriel and more
Pretty damn good movie! Kinda reminded me a bit of (SPOLERS obv) King's "The Dark Half" (plus a little bit of "The Basket Case", but actually good). Such a good movie tho!
So, if it wasn't for you guys. I wouldn't have watched this movie. I started watching and in the first few seconds I was like, this shyt corny. After watching like 4 min in on your vid. I was like imma give it a chance! So thank you guys for that. Shyt went exactly like you guys were saying. It went hard after a while. Appreciate you guys for that spoiler free review!
If you notice the only time he came in the picture is when Emily was getting beat on thank about it his face is on the back of her head so when her man knock her head to the wall he actually hit his face to the wall as well and the cops said she got beat on alot of time so was a matter of time he was getting in the picture
Think about this guy's what if u was attached to your sister or brother head and back and you cant help how u both are born but your mom want to abandon you and ppl beat on ur sister and you and you both share the same body is u gonna let that person beat both u up or kill u or u gonna fight back
This was such a fun ride. It’s nice to see some other people who got it when watching this movie, because there was a good number of people who definitely didn’t get it and gave it a bad review as a result.
Everything y’all said was so right jams is always going to be the goat has a Director you never know how the movie going to be end up and l love how that dude surprise us with scary movies that’s what I want in horror’s
This move was well paced and fun. 20:48 Yeah that was some upgrade type fighting but dirtier. Upgraded Grey Trace vs. Gabriel controlled Madison👊👊 Who would win?
A friend of mine said he would give it a -10 out of ten. And that I shouldn't watch it. I I watched and would give it a 7 or 8. I was pleasantly surprised. It was an interesting ride.
That...um, premise didnt need to be on screen as much as it was. Went from creepy to goofy cuz they couldnt keep it up logistics wise. Cool n wacky premise for sure tho
I expected to be scared, plain and simple. This horror movie sucks. I expect better from James Wan. But, I believe that he'll bounce back from this piece of crap.

Let me explain, the average human being uses less than 9% of the human brain , a MALIGNANT brain tumor uses tentacles to spread through the tissue , a malignant brain tumor accesses parts of the human brain never the fire accessed, gabriel accessed parts of the brain that I’ve never then accessed , that’s how he did what he did. Could he perform the said “miracles” very possibly. Jsut an interesting thought.
It was such a great film i loved it a lot its rlly for me a classic and to think it was the wife of James that came up with the movie thats one amazing twisted woman 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Man, James Wan mixed SAW, Dead Silence, old school horror, and Italian giallo style. By now, one should never doubt. In James Wan we trust.
True. Iam not a fan of all his work. But guy knows his old school horror/thrillers. And surprisingly knows action . This was more of a thriller to me. Had some great references to The dark half. Not the best, but really surprisingly good film.
Facts
Yeah I agree. Although I was dissapointed with that so called twist. You could see that coming g within the first 30-45 mins.
And a little bit of Insidious
One of the best reviews of this movie. Other channels are being so negative and didn't seem to get what Wan was doing but you guys did and I appreciate you. This movie was so damned good. Wan is a modern master of horror.

Chris Stuckmann gave it a positive review
Why did Gabriel dash the chair at the detectives like that though? he was petty af for that lmao
That shit had me crying 😭😭😂 I was thinkin he was Rey throw it through the window not launch that shit at them
LOOOOOL
Because he's petty as fuck. One of the things I love about this movie is that they give Gabriel his own personality
That 2 for one piece was unnecessarily hilarious.
That police station scene was so unexpected and came out of nowhere that it surprised the F out of me, i was sitting there with eyes wide open like "this mf about to clean that entire building up" and he actually did and rolled out.
Yp I was like, what the hell am I watching? This is better than a lot of action movies...
LOL the way you worded that, damn straight he wiped the flooor at the police station

Isn't he Cinder in Killer Instinct and the main character Noctis from FF15?

Well he does have eyes in the back of his head. LMAO
I guess Gabriel can put the body's adrenaline in overdrive.
That whole scene with him killing all those cops was kinda funky but cool tho

I don't think she'd go to jail, because the sister has the tapes explaining everything and some medical examinations could confirm it.
well she cant guarantee that gabriel wont kill anyone else, so I think that at least she will be under the guard or something like that
This movie was a combo of 80s NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, BASKET CASE, and even a bit of VENOM. Lights flickering by a siamese twin? MARTIAL ARTS!?!!?
