Can I Use Color Seasons and Kibbe To Make Better Purchases?

  • This was something I filmed spontaneously. I expect to put out a more organized video as I learn more. To be clear, I'm not saying Kibbe has anything to do with minimalism. My thought is I can use these theories to make better and fewer purchases.
I think Ellie-Jean does a great job of explaining Kibbe's theory (link below). I'm still learning, so I just apply the bits that make sense to me because I've found it helps. To me, "better purchases" means buying pieces that I feel good in for many years. My goal is to continuing buying fewer pieces. That does not mean I won't be buying luxury. The main way I'm able to afford luxury pieces is by minimizing my smaller purchases.

Very interesting indeed! I hadn’t heard of kibbe (not kibble, autocorrect 😂) until you previously mentioned it. I’m certainly down for something that might help me figure out a style 😅

😂kibble! I've found it really helpful and intuitive. It gave structure to some things I was observing in myself. Hopefully I can keep getting better at videos and go over it in greater detail!

Came back to finish! Loved this video, do a series! You're incredibly considered in your approach and could really help people (me) with what works (and doesn't) and why! Always welcome to see kitty pics too 💖

Thank you Gwenny! 🥰 I'll see what I can put together! I think you have a great eye for what suits you. I was thinking about how you can rock a crisp white shirt in a way I can't, and you look so effortlessly cool in one 😎

I loved this topic! I want to invest more time into figuring out what shapes and colors flatter me the most. This was very helpful!

Thank you Lula! 🥰I've been obsessed with color seasons and Kibbe for a few months now. It's finally giving me some structure and explanations for why some purchases didn't work out in the past. I'm still having fun with it, but I think it will help me make long lasting choices! 😊

I hope you enjoy it as much as I have! It's really helped me put words to why I felt more comfortable in certain styles.

I've really enjoyed going down the Kibbe rabbit hole 😊 Now I see the references every time I look at clothes!

Also I’m so curious of how I’ve honed my style over the years is aligned with this Kibbe system. I had a moment a few years ago when I got rid of all patterns that weren’t geometric or linear which is what I feel I look the best in (outside of an animal print). I felt way better about my wardrobe when I did that.

You might find that you were aligning with the system intuitively! That's what grabbed my attention and why it felt natural to learn more once I started. I've tried so many styles, and looking back at pictures from the last 3-4 years has helped. Some pieces looked off or unnatural.I feel much better about my wardrobe now.
Another thing I like about (my interpretation of) Kibbe is there is no good or bad way to dress, but just creating an effect. It's about dressing in a way harmonious with your lines, but you can go against them if you want to create a different effect.

Oh I’d love more on this! I don’t have the time to go down the rabbit hole on this right now but really want to 😂
