Having played a Yamaha PSR E-463 for about 3 years I decided to buy the PSR SX-600. In my view this is possibly the best arranger keyboard on the market at the price point(at the moment). For live performances there are single key press registration memories that can store keyboard setting for individual songs and a playlist feature that makes recalling settings for entire sets easy. Nice job Yamaha🙂
YEP, touch screen sometimes do not react as quickly as buttons. This happens a lot on my smartphones, tablets, etc.... Touch screen can get quite dirty if your fingers are not clean. I have to clean my smartphones & tablet's screen quite often.
1) I'm fine with physical buttons, I quickly learned how to use it. Off course bigger screen looks nicer (that's the only advantage of SX700 and SX900 screenwise for me). 2) Keys are fine for me, I learn this instrument's possibilities and learn playing in general. Piano like keys are good for someone that is few stages further in my opinion. 3) Recording audio straight to computer/laptop using USB was deal breaker for me (SX700 and SX900 and Genos cannot do that) 4) Smart Chord, Unison and Accent features are very nice addons that add color to your performance (SX700 and SX900 and Genos cannot do that) I am very satisfied with PSR SX600.
I agree all 4 points that GrayColors brought up here. But the voices quality annoyed me. I am used to voices of more advanced keyboards. For #3: one can record to the USB drive, then copy it to computer, a little annoying but NO QUALITY LOSS. I do this all the time with my Tyros3. Strange that this USB AUDIO INTERFACE only exists in lower end model like this SX600, PSR-E463. The PSR S series and SX700, SX900, Tyros ,GENOS do not have this feature. I tried that with the SX600, works great ... EXCEPT it seems to interfere with the PC being ON, and the SX600 also gets into a weird mode with this USB cable connected: when playing a style, sometimes the BASS voice is cut short instead of staying sustained. So the styles sounds weird. Disconnect the USB cable and the problem goes away !!!
Need advice. This keyboard is available in my city at the same price around 1000 USD. But I can get a brand new S670 for half of its price. What do you guys recommend?
Does this Yamaha have a "step" sequencer? One that is similar to the Roland Fantom where you can play say 16 measures of a track - stop and write - then return to add to it at a later time? Thanks -
I bought one, played it for about 4 weeks. I had to return it back to store (for full refund) as I am NOT impressed with its sound quality (inferior compared to a S910 for example). When playing gigs, it takes more time to call up a different styles due to the 4 arrow buttons + ENTER. I am ordering a higher end model now. For people with limited budget, the SX600 is quite good.
Hi there! Yes, the USB-B port on the Yamaha SX600 can indeed be used as a MIDI out. When you connect it to a computer or compatible device, it allows you to send MIDI data, which can be super handy for controlling virtual instruments or recording MIDI tracks in your DAW. If you need help setting it up, let me know! 🎹👍
Thank you! I really appreciate your answer. I'm considering buying it to replace my 49-key MIDI master keyboard so that I can use it quickly without needing to start my computer. Do you know if the pitch bend, mod wheel, and sustain pedal also send MIDI messages via the USB cable?
Hey there! I am looking for an arranger for my family band. I was wondering which one you prefer, transitioning from the older and earlier 2000’s keyboards. PSR SX600 or S650?
@@SVPSkins I believe so. I am still leaning towards Korg EK50 which is half price and from my point of view misses USB audio interface... however I believe that sounds on PSR SX600 are killer. I would love to try them side by side...
SX600 is the way to go without spending a lot of money. I ordered one, while still playing a TYROS3 (for 12 years now). The later is pretty good, but a little heavy to carry to gigs. and the SX600 has few new features not seen on TYROS keyboards. Two layers of voices are fine for me, although I am used to have 3 layers.

I use the sx600 and my greatest disappointment is the keyboard which is the same keybed used in the beginner model Yamaha E series keyboard too hard to play for long time and another one is the organ sounds it’s distressing to ears ;
20 cans of soup lol, just ordered this, uprgrading from my very very old starter psr from back in the day when I first started learning in music school, can't wait to do my own songs on this as well as my covers, love playing bands like Take That, The Corrs, U2 etc, can't wait to get back uploading on soundcloud will sound so much better then my old but still loved basic yamaha.
It is very tough to play an arranger with weighted keys. I have tried that with Yamaha digital piano (the Clavinova serie, non portable) that also has arranger functions. Weighted keys are for digital pianos.
Me i was very desapointed with this keyboard the jack of the phone is behind and not in front. There is no at all a real split buton as we are use to have. So we have to go in menu to change the plit position. The power of the hp of the yamaha must be 16 ohms so in front of wk-7600 casio who is only 7watt but with 8 ohms hp my casio is twice much powerfull. The screen of this sx600 is really not as laege as we see on the video. And they had pleinty of buton to navigate everywhere and the navigation is not intuitive at all. The jogg weel is not clickable that's why you should every time press enter and it's another button. Well i think i will return it. I really very despointed
What does that have to do with a 61-Key keyboard? 61 keys is the most desirable on stage - the other 27 keys of a standard 88 key piano are rarely used - and the 61 key is far easier to transport - less weight, requires less room on stage, and less of a pain moving.

Many complicated EDM(uplifting, progressive trance...) styles for higher models not compatible with 600(. Maybe possible to DIY such styles.
