The older I get, the more I feel Nani doesn’t get enough credit. She is NOT Lilo’s mom. That was unfortunately thrust upon her due to the deaths of their parents, so she really had to grow up fast. She tries her damndest to learn how to be a parent and to make their whole financial situation work.
So true! In the scene where Stitch’s mouth acts like a record player, you can see a bunch of surfing awards on Nani’s wall. She quite possibly gave up a dream of being a pro surfer to take care of her sister.
Not only that she gave up on surfing she had throphies for it so she was good. And the boyfriend is also quite nice he wants to be with nani but really understand that Lilo should be before him everytime and really treats Lilo as his sister
Yeah it’s a very tough situation to be in. She is young herself and trying to find her own way but now she has to do it for both her and Lilo. 😢
When I first watched Lilo & Stitch when I was younger, I always thought that Nani was a mom.
Seriously. This movie has been one of my all time favorites for so long. When I was little, I saw so much of myself in Lilo, and now as I'm older, Nani hits so close to home when I think of my own much younger sister and how I had to step up to help raise her after our parent's split.
I love the speech that Stitch makes to the Grand Councilwoman. "This is my family. I found it all....on....my own. It's little and broken, but still good. Yeah, still good." 😭😭

As someone raised in a broken home, this movie is special to me. This movie helped me feel normal.
That’s why we loved the message in this movie. It was great that they made this 🤗
As a pacific islander, seeing this movie as a kid was the perfect acknowledgement I needed to make me feel better about being bullied for being different in school. It helped that me and Lilo were both weird little kids.
As a child, I thought Elvis Presley was Hawaiian because of this movie.
This is some nostalgia. This is one of my favorite disney movies
And don't know were but it is definitely in my TOP 20 somewhere.

There's actually a meaning to Lilo wanting Pudge the fish controlling weather. Her parents died in an accident during turbulent weather conditions, so she uses Pudge as a coping mechanism.
Also in the original movie, the ending spaceship flying scene was originally an airliner in city flying, but 9/11 happened. They had to redo that whole scene to what you see now.
i knew about the 9/11 fact, but that first one's new to me. It makes a whole lotta sense now that i think about it
Actually what happened was on that day she didn't feed Pudge a sandwich so she genuinely believes that he controls the weather. It's part of her mental disability.
@@charlesbecker934Yeah, and in some like storyboards Stitch lets Lilo fight of seagulls to protect Pudge alone after he had slapped it out of her hands. It dies and Lilo rightfully angrily tells Stitch that people don't come back from the death, followed by Stitch discovering the graves of her parents, feeling guilt about it.
The movie also had a scene changed more recently where they altered a drying machine into a cabinet/pizza box in the scene where Lilo is hiding from Nani after running around the house, originally she hid inside the drying machine when Nani tricks her into coming out of hiding, but it was more recently revised to be a pizza box/cabinet combination after it was believed to be irresponsible to "encourage" children to hide inside dryers.
@@christopherdalle8928 Yea the scene looks so much weirder and makes no sense with the change. Seriously, a Pizza box to cover up the table.
It's like the changes to a New Hope with R2D2 being blocked by even more rocks that make it look off and makes it seem impossible for R2 to event fit to hide into the crevice in the first place.
26:08 I always love the Councilwoman's reaction to the fact that Stitch is peacefully communicating with her and she gets so surprised when Stitch tells her his name. Literally, it was only a couple of days ago in the intro when Stitch said (alien language) something horrifying and naughty that got him imprisoned. Now he's talking to her about wanting to express his goodbyes to family.

As a lot younger guy many years ago I went on a date with a girl I had met a few days before to see this movie in theaters. I went because she wanted to watch it, and I was going to try to make moves on her.
Within fifteen minutes, I had almost forgotten about her, and was just enjoying myself. I loved the movie, no moves were made, and I have long forgotten her name. But I never forgot the joy I had watching Lilo and Stitch as a supposed "nearly" grown up.
A couple of years later, a TV show of Lilo and Stitch was out, and I had no idea until I saw it scrolling through the guide. I immediately switched to it, much to my seventeen year old younger brother's anger. I told him to shut up and watch.
In less than two minutes Lilo told the the red head Myrtle that Stitch's cousin had highly contagious butt rabies, and the two of us were howling with laughter. He became a fan, and we would catch an episode every now and then to laugh.
In the extended version we see that the only day Lilo forgot to feed the fish was the day her parents died from bad weather. Since then, Lilo blames herself and that's why she tries so hard to feed the fish, so that no one suffers what she suffered.
This movie is literally my childhood movie. This is just. The perfect movie for a kid. Teaches so much family and values.

This was from a timeperiod were Dreamworks kicked in, specially with the success of Shrek, and nobody expected that.
But with this movie they were back on the road because the way it tells a story that for all its sci-fi ornamentation, focuses largely on characters who look and feel like ordinary people with real-world problems. And that is so important and what makes a good movie in general.
I can identify myself with Lilo here, the difference is, i was born into a big & priviledged family but it was not always fun and we've been through lots of shit, also I was similarly "crazy" as a kid like Lilo and the relationship with her big sister (which i never had) who also have the role of a mom, that is quite relatable and that's what make it special.
Also the Hawaii setting was pretty unique. 🌴
Nani , Lilo and Stitch are characters that really don't get the credit they deserve among Disney's lineup.
Nani in particular is an amazing character. She basically had to step up and raise Lilo on her own, while still processing the death of their parents herself.
This was written and directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois. Stitch was based on designs Sanders had made years earlier for a children's book he wanted to write. They later went to DreamWorks and wrote and directed "How to Train Your Dragon", which is why there are some similarities in the appearance of Stitch and Toothless. More of Sanders' interesting creature designs can be seen in the next film he co-wrote/directed, also at DreamWorks, "The Croods".
Might I recommend Treasure Planet for one of your future reactions. One of my all time favorites and a super underrated Disney Movie.

despite the crazy aliens and scifi this is one of the most grounded movies characterwise disney every made. lilo's sister is going through very realstuff. still a great momvie. the live action will be weird i bet.
A bit of animation trivia, the giant ship they use in the climax of the movie was originally a boeing 747. The movie released less than a year after 9/11 so they changed the design due to the culture at the time. You can find the alternate scenes if you look around online.
The hampter that Lilo crawls out of in the beginning was also a dryer in the original. They changed it for obvious reasons.
This movie is one of the all-time greats of Disney animations. It is seminal to the childhoods of almost everyone who saw it, including myself.
Also, came for Lilo and Stitch, stayed for the puppy.
Some thoughts I'm typing as I watch this video:
1. I didn't think there was anyone who hasn't seen Lilo & Stitch! 😅
2. Bucky is so adorable! 😍🐶

Fun fact Chris Sanders actually plays Stitch and plays stitch until after Leroy and Stitch then he is replaced for the last 2 shows and those 2 shows are the anime’s

Koalas look very cute, but herbivores of all species are known to be more dangerous (because they're more defensive). And Koalas are very nervous animals and their claws can hurt pretty bad.
That is why in Africa you are more likely to be killed by a hippo than a crocodile.
Evil Koala + Honey Badger would be a perfect description for Stitch.
Do you know Australian Honey Badgers? They're not afraid of anything and won't let go of what they've bitten into, risking their lives.
Honey Badgers would also attack lions and elephants.
Fun fact, in the cartoon series, Jumbaa and Pleakley are heavily implied to be a couple. 😊

Really explained a few things from _my_ childhood.
Not sure if someone's mentioned it already, but the reason Lilo believes Pudge the Fish controls the weather is because she and her mother used to bring him a peanut butter sandwich every day, and on the one day they didn't, there was a rainstorm that killed her parents.
The reason she keeps bringing The Fish a sandwich even though, in her eyes, he killed her parents, is to appease him so that no one else will die in an accident like her parents did.
David is goals in this movie. He expresses interest in Nani but understands that she isn't available due to all the trouble she has with Lilo. He clearly communicates that he would like to date her but doesn't push the issue when she can't commit and keeps helping, even when he doesn't get anything out of it.
i remember watching this movie when it came out, painfully sad to watch and still is to this day, they dealt with some very sensitive subjects regarding Lilo and Nani, I like how Bubbles was looking out for Lilo even if it meant seperating the sisters
Lilo & Stitch is absolutely one of my top 10 favorite Disney movies of all times, I've seen this movie over a billion times, And I still Watch it to this day, And I have a couple of Stitch Merchandise, And My most favorite characters is obviously Lilo Pelekai, And Stitch I can obvisouly relate to both of them, And this Movie is very special to be, Because I was born the Same year that it was release in theathers, I'm such as Stitch Lover! And I absolutely love both of you guys reaction to one of my most favorite Disney movies of all time!💙💙💙
I love Lilo and Stitch I watched it a few times babysitting my little cousins as a kid and it was one of the few Disney movies that I not only could stand, but also enjoy!
Love this movie, it’s actually really deep , Nani is one of my faves and wish we got a little bit more of her
Stitch is a chaotic gremlin and I love him. I’m very scared at how the live action version will handle it since I heard that apparently bubbles isn’t in the movie which sucks because I really like his character because he genuinely has Lilos best interests at heart the entire movie. Like he’s harsh but from his perspective before understanding about the whole alien situation he just saw an older sister struggling to take care of lilo. It’s just a real situation not really addressed in kids movies at least not in this way
I saw that about Bubbles as well, but on the IMDb pages and quite a few articles it says Courtney B Vance will be Bubbles! So there's hope yet because I love him too
So fun fact: the space ship scene where they fly a ship around and have a sky battle to save lilo, originally the scene was they steal an airplane and fly around Hawaii, but they changed it due to similarity to a historical event (I forget which, but I believe it was the twin towers?)
Wasn’t it 9-11? Monsters Inc had a scene changed due to similar reason, I believe.
One of the best, most underrated movies in the Disney cataloge.
Now you’ve done it, you’ve gone down the rabbit hole that is the Lilo and Stitch franchise. There are I believe two more movies, and an entire TV show.
Lilo is my Autism and Stitch is my ADHD! I always connected to this film from a young age though didn't know I was Autistic or had ADHD until I reached Adulthood!

This one was the first of new breed of Disney and changed the way Disney movies were both made and received, and also went more adult with the consequences and the ramp up.

Movie fact: The huge red spaceship was originally going to be a stolen airliner. The part where they were flying through the mountains was originally them flying through a city. Then September 11th happened and everything was edited for obvious reasons. The original scenes can still be found on RUclips.

This is overshadowed by Moana, forgotten people and US Disny, but friest Disny cartoon move that takes place in Hawaii, if I'm not mistaken .
Two other great movies-- make that three- from this time-period, are Atlantis the Lost Empire, Treasure Planet, and Titan A.E.

I found out recently which i should have known is that lilo is nerodivergent which makes her alittle different and probably why she finds it hard to connect with other people which i can understand. I am alittle autistic and have adhd and i feel like i have a hard time connecting with people and getting my thoughts out correctly, as well as sharing how i am feeling somtimes even though i do try to but being shy also doesnt help me at all irl with all of that combined yikes lol so i kinda connect with lilo in some ways maybe not everything but i do know what it feels like to be different and sometimes seen differently.
Also nani is awesome sister and deserves more credit i love her.
Stitch is also something i have a ton of merch of so i obviously really love lilo and stitch.
I cant believe it even has an anime with a different little girl which i think is set in the future.
The show was really good and i think the only movie i need to really sit and watch is i cant remember the name i think its leroy and stitch or something close to that.

I was today years old when i found out that lilo is a Hawaiian word for either broken or separated. So the movie title should read broken and put back together
There’s a really sad deleted scene where Lilo tells a bunch of tourists on the beach that when a siren goes off there will be a giant tsunami wave that will kill them all. The siren doesn’t actually mean that but it goes off and everyone runs. You then see a clear beach but it’s full of trash and she tells Bubbles that if he lived there he would understand.
Basically the tourists are destroying the beach and have no regard for those that actually live there. There was also a bit where some tourists called her a real native and took pictures of her like she was a zoo animal. Does feel bad to see how some of not most tourists care nothing for the people that actually live in these places and don’t care about destroying their places

When it comes to anime movies, Lilo and Stitch has to be top five favorites. I think my first is Princess Mononoke.
I Always liked this movie. So to see it again is great. Also came back with a name change instead of Formerly Sonic Mobian, Had that name for a long time! Was about time for a change for 2023! ANYWAYS! I will always remember this movie when I was younger.
Great reaction! I think my favorite memory of this franchise has always been example how there’s no such thing as a perfect family, but there is such thing as a family that can be broken and repaired. If you do decide to react to the sequels I highly recommend them in this order: Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch Has A Glitch, Stitch The Movie, and Leroy and Stitch. There’s a tv series between Stitch The Movie and Leroy and Stitch. and if you’re looking for more Hawaiian themed films or surfing style films, I highly recommend Finding Ohana, Soul Surfer, Johnny Tsunami, Johnny Kapahala: Back On Board, and The Legend of Johnny Lingo (2003).

Personally, I got into Lilo and Sticth because of their TV show. Also, when I was younger, my parents and families used to joke to me and my sister that I was sticth and she was lilo until we got older and I moved on to star wars the Clone wars.

Lilo and stitch has several sequels and serieses, id advise watching the series on disney plus but be careful of the order you watch the moves and series in because there is a order
lol it's funny that you point out that Stich is "like a Xenomorph" -he LITERALLY replaces the xenomorph in a scary ride-experience in tomorrow land at Disney World. (you sit there in a seat and there's "something crawling around behind you" {it's really just 4D special effects, wind and such...} it WAS the xeonomorph but now it's literally just Stich lol... I'd say it was a lot scarier before... and it was... but idk. it's the same ride. so for me when I experience the "kid friendly" version now it's like I know what it really is. it's like they're just adding a layer of _gaslighting_ to it for me, really....)

To this day, I don't think anyone actually, truly knows Cobra Bubbles' real name. It's not Cobra Bubbles, I'll at least promise that. I think the only reason anyone has ever assumed his first name is Cobra is because Lilo saw that tattooed on his knuckles. Doesn't mean it's his first name. She's smart as hell for a kid her age to deduce that, but as a 30-something myself, I can't imagine a reason to tattoo my first name anywhere on me, including my knuckles.
And the exact moment he first established that his name was "Bubbles"? He looked like he was saying it because he lost a bet. I *bet* he actually did. Sometime just before he was sent on this assignment, he lost a bet with someone at the CIA office he's stationed at. A bet that said "this time you your alias' last name has to be Bubbles".
First Kirby is possibly the most powerful Nintendo character, then Stitch is possibly the most powerful Disney character.

Stitch is almost a god but still needs to eat and sleep to survive and can drown and still is able to be knocked unconscious and he can still feel pain
