My wife and I are fully vaccinated and a big believer of wearing masks and social distancing. But we have paid and booked everything we need for a maui vacation months in advance for September 14. Should we try to get a refund and if we can go will it even be worth it with all the restrictions?
@@joelnguyen3875 we are kind of in the same boat. Booked and paid in Feb., arriving Maui Sept 5. Been a rough year for us so we were really looking forward to this. After looking into possible refund, if even possible, we have decided that we are going. We will do what we can do and enjoy whatever it is we do. A local news station here in the Bay Area said yesterday that a number of people have canceled upcoming trips, which might be helpful for those of us who do go. We understand the situation we are going into and we will make the best of it!
I checked out the Kaanapali food truck park a few weeks again, while vacationing in Maui. It was a great option for our family since there were 9 of us, and everyone could choose what type of food they wanted. We made the mistake though of going around 6:30, so lines were very long and wait time for food was around an hour for the more popular trucks. We decided to take a walk down to the beach to watch the sunset, then came back an hour later when lines were a little shorter. I definitely recommend going early when they open (I think around 4:30-5) to avoid long waits. Most of our group got food from the Mexican place or Hooked (seafood plates). Both were pretty decent. Definitely looking forward to checking out some other food trucks next time I’m in Maui!
Just want to mention another foodtruck recently started in Kihei at the South Maui gardens. :). I like this video and the blog that goes with this! Mahalo!
Love your channel, will be in Maui this month and have pretty much taken many of your ideas and suggestions and have made my itinerary. Thank you both.
Thanks for all your suggestions! So incredibly helpful! But after watching many of your vids i am more confused than ever of what island i want to visit most the first!
Aloha Jordan and Erica! Thank you for this helpful video! Looking forward to coming back to Maui for our 3rd visit. Never tried a food truck, but now looking forward to it. The Thai Me Up food truck sounds very appealing to me. Loved Mama's Fish House on Mother's Day this past May and was a crossed off from my bucket list. Have another beautiful day in Paradise and mahalo!
I'm so grateful for your videos and tips. We went to the food trucks tonight and ate at 4 different places and are excited to return tomorrow. Hubby and I loved our hurricane and sweet chili bowls at Vidads (and so did our teens who finished what we couldn't). Youngest loved Tsunami Burger. Oldest had an amazing salad/sweet potato/Mahi mahi from Abiki's. (That's where I'm eating next.) Son won't get fish and chips again from Da Nani Pirate, but he hasn't given up on them and will try again. Going for Kraken in the AM! Your info really helped us decide where to go. Thanks! The vibe there is fabulous.
Thanks so much Jodi! Glad to hear you enjoyed the Kihei food trucks. There are lots of good ones around Kihei. We appreciate the comment. Let me know how Da Nani is the second time. We were recently disappointed at their Ka'anapali location.
Thanks for all the info..we love your videos ..we are coming to Maui next week & have heard a lot about the food trucks there 😊 your video is gonna be really handy for us..Thanks again 👍
I miss Brekkie Bowl that used to be parked off Ohukai near extra storage space in Kihei. Sole brother rocks, krakens and Abiki food trucks are my go to. P.S. it’s fun watching Henry grow….he’s an awesome little boy. My little guy is now 31!🍂🍁
Thank you guys for the recommendations, My family and I just came back from visiting Maui and the food trucks were definitely a highlight in our trip! Thanks again! P.S (I was the one who said hello at the airport) you guys definitely made our trip enjoyable.
We drove out of the airport rental car lot and right into one of the Costco food truck parks when we arrived just after noon. I had fish tacos from Da Nani Pirates, husband had poke (forgot the truck name) and coffee from Kraken. It was a great lunch! Later in the trip we hit up the Satori sushi truck in Makawao during our Haleakalā bike trip and it was exceptional.
I agree with Jordan, food trucks are the way to go in general. I can't wait to try some when we visit next year. Thanks for this video. Love the channel!!
Very helpful video. Our family spent a week in Maui last November. We were curious about the food trucks but hesitant, so we did not try any. Wish I had seen this video beforehand. We love the island and plan on returning later this year. Will come armed with good info and renewed sense of adventure when deciding on dinner options. Food trucks will definitely be on the docket next time. Aloha!
Thanks so much for this post and ALL your videos . Coming over in 2 1/2 weeks and can’t get restaurant reservations . Looking forward to exploring the food trucks and hoping for less crowds 😎🌴.
You guys are awesome! My hubby planned a last minute trip to Maui and we’ve been binge watching your videos to help. The Costco park was the best spot since we were hungry right after the flight. Please keep it up 👍🏾 🤗🌺
Awesome video. I am visiting Maui during Christmas and I presume restaurants will be packed (they already are, I hear) so food trucks and grab&go will be my staples. Staying in the Kaanapali/Lahaina area.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide Believe me, I had this vacation booked in early November 2020 at much cheaper prices, when covid lockdowns were still in place.... So happy you mentioned Aloha Eats at the Lahaina Cannery Mall. It was fantastic. My son got the “fish” tacos and said they were as good as he’s ever gotten anywhere and he’s not vegan. He lives in Honolulu and has had a lot of fish tacos. I had the barbecued “pork” sliders (I’m the plant-based one) and they were great.

Aloha Earth Eats as their plant based menu will probably keep me alive longer and it’s good. Kalei’s Lunchbox if I didn’t mind gaining some weight with a smile on my face for every meal.
