    Some youtube videos that you watch, shall we say, leave you scratching your head somewhat! This one however has quality written all over it and inspires total confidence from a person who knows what he is doing. I followed your excellent video and it turned out exactly as you described, the best part being the engine light turning itself off after the first trip in the car after completing the work and knowing that the rectification work clearly worked. Loving my Jetta again now, haha. Thank you very much for posting this most helpful and informative video, legend!

    So the "flap" is supposed to stay open? I am having trouble cranking my Jetta tdi. The code read by the local parts store says: throttle body actuator "a" stuck closed. I took it apart today to clean it well. The flap is always shut and is very hard to open. I probably just need to replace it then right? Also, now all of my dash sensor lights are on. I don't know much about cars in general. Any help would be appreciated. Lol

      Hi, no I didn't blow the fuse.. I don't even know if there is a fuse for it :).. sorry. When I had to replace mine - the mechanics of it inside were knackered, maybe that little motor inside the unit wasn't in great condition either. So I just replaced it - don't know anything about fuse, sorry.

    • @davidruslan3533
      @davidruslan3533 3 года назад +1

      Yes, there is a fuse for it. It’s a 5 amp fuse (on a 2008 Octavia 2.0 TDi) and mine has been blowing due to the intake flap sticking. The first and second stage fans also run on the same circuit. I’m about to replace my intake flap motor today, just have to get a torque wrench. Will let you know how it goes.

    Hi, Great video! I have a 2009 Audi A4 2.0 TDI (143 cv) multitronic and a couple of days ago I got the engine light on the dash. I checked the error with the VAG cable and it was P2008 00 [032] Intake Manifold Flap Bank 1. Is it what you called Throttle Body controlled? is it the same procedure and engine as shown in your video?
    When changed the part, do I have to do some kind of adaption with the VAG cable?

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  9 лет назад

      Yes, the part I show in the video is intake manifold flap. Bank 1 - means engine's head, 2.0tdi has only one head anyway.
      Just based on fault code, I can't tell what is exactly wrong with your intake flap.. But if you need to replace it, and you don't have a device to cleat the the fault code after, it will clear itself when you drive for a bit.

    Cheers M8!! :) Looks easy as hell (when u do it) :D i`ll see tmoz when i`ll do it myself! :) by the way does the Throttle body or EGR effects IDLE in any way? (my Throttle body on the side where that mechanism is got the seal popping out and oil on , so my guess is that an indication that i need a new 1) . Did u had any problems with your engline idle (Revs hunting and engine pulsing) ?
    Cheers 1 more time Fam :)

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  10 лет назад

      When I had problem with throttle body - first time - it was shut and I couldn't start the engine, then it opened and I ignored it till it got stuck again, engine went into limp mode it didn't sound/behave nice. When I put new throttle body, idle became much smoother.
      Also long time ago I had problem with EGR valve, it was stuck in position open, and I had emission gases always coming back, which always caused misfire when engine was cold and sometimes when it's hot.
      At some point next week I'm going to take out EGR valve and manifold, show what is inside, and see if I can clean it - I've already booked fresh gaskets..

      WheelsAndMotors well, my car does a lot of vibration...few days ago i took out the air filter, cleaned it a bit..and vibration stopped for a day..now its back again..i ordered a new air filter and willing to clean MAF sensor (saw it in your video how to do it :D )..could be that issue as well :) Don`t forget to make a video about EGR and MANIFORD when u will do it! :D i`m looking forward to yr video`s and posts! :) learning from you a lot!

    I have a 2005 3.0 tdi quattro, last year someone jet washed my engine and my engine management light turned on the next morning. The obd scanner indentified a faulty throttle valve sensor. I was advised to continue driving until until exess water dried... but i never replaced it.
    I was wondering if there's a difference between a throttle body valve and throttle valve sensor ??

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  7 лет назад

      When you connect diagnostics device, it can show throttle opening in %, so there must me something that sends that information. In that car in the video, 2.0tdi, there were no extra sensors on the throttle body unit. It was just in one piece and connector/wire that goes into it, so I believe it senses internally... I don't know what is it like on 3.0. I just had a look on eBay for parts - they sell intake flap unit, but I can't find sensor for that. Maybe it's also in one piece?

    Thanks for this video,Pls can this intake manifold flap motor make a car move slowly? and can particulate filter make a car go slow also?

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  9 лет назад

      Hi Martin, quite a few things can make your car go slow :)
      I can tell you my symptoms with flap motor: it went into limp mode, misfired, stalled few times. You can check if flap is bad with your finger by disconnecting intake hose.
      Luckily for me I don't have a particulate filter. As far as I know about it, when it clogged up, you can't get high revs (because it can't pass too much exhaust gases, but also, there is N75 valve which will send OBD error message)

    Hi I have a recent problem with my Tdi 2.0 VW Passat B6 it went down to a kind of limp driving last night the car had been running perfect till then as the fuel was low I thought it had just run out of fuel. I put some fuel in and started it this morning it started to smoke a little the smoke was white when I accelerated it kept stalling and even a little smoke came up through the air intake. I'm pretty new to TDIs and VW the turbo whines a little yet I have no light to say what is failing seems to be fuel yet the smoke is confusing

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  7 лет назад

      Don't know Hayden, it needs to be seen and the best to be plugged in and scanned with vag-com. Meanwhile once you are commenting under this video - throttle body is quite easy to check, just take intake pipe off. Also, I had very similar symptoms, when my EGR valve was clogged up (have a look for a video for it at my channel - "EGR valve and intake maniafold Audi A6"). As for turbo, I don't have any practical experience yet. I'm planning to make a video about 1.9tdi Golf turbo, but it might take some time.

    Hi, i have faulty intake manifold flap on my bkd engine, now it is disconnected and programmed off so i dont have engine codes. I have very rough sound when i turn off the engine that is for sure. But my engine also seems to run bit too harsh and clattering on low rpms and idle. I have read that this flap also controls airflow on low rpms so could it being faulty cause such symptoms?

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  5 лет назад

      I might be wrong, but as far as I know it only controls engine shut down. I would blame rough idle on something else, unless intake flap stuck not fully open.. But that just my opinion.

    Hi can you pls tell me what to do if I can fix it or need to change it. My audi a4 2.0TDI gives me an faulty code p3103 intake flap motor. Waiting for your advice. Thanks a lot

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  3 года назад +1

      As you say, this code points on intake flap motor. So it's either fuse, or wiring, or intake flap itself. I'm not sure if there's a fuse for that. If you have fuse diagram in your owners manual, you can have a look. If I would get this code, I would check if connection and wiring is ok first. I don't think that intake flap is fixable - better just replace it. By the way, if you don't have fuse diagram, you can go through all fuses manually. Personally, I would replace intake flap motor (sometimes they call it throttle body).

    The intake manifold flap motor and the throttle body are two completely different parts. The intake manifold flap motor operates metering flaps inside the intake manifold on variable intake systems for improved low-end torque. The throttle body is before the intake manifold.

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  7 лет назад

      There is no throttle body as such in diesel engines, they always have sufficient amount of airflow. The only reason words "throttle body" are mentioned here - is because people keep calling intake flap this way, because it looks similar to throttle body on petrol engines. Just for SEO, and to help some to find what they looking for :)

    • @ProjectDv2
      @ProjectDv2 7 лет назад

      That isn't *entirely* true. Many diesels have throttle bodies that are more or less identical to their gasoline counterparts. That said, you are absolutely right about this engine, I didn't realize they had made such drastic changes by this point. I'm afraid I'm more familiar with the Volkswagen offerings, and in that only up thru the TDI-PD generations. After about '06 or '07 my exposure to them have been very limited. I apologize for trying to correct you, it was my own ignorance, not yours.

      Some scanners allow you to see percentage of throttle body opening? Does your scanner show that? Is your car diesel?

    • @MrAngelis
      @MrAngelis 7 лет назад

      Thanks for your response, really appreciated. I've only have a basic scanner, doesn't get into details, just the error code. Yeah sorry, it's a 2004 2.0 TDI A3.

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  7 лет назад

      My very basic scanner is Bluetooth OBD plug and app on the phone, this one here:
      ruclips.net/video/oUn5u5g6C0A/видео.html
      That one shows throttle body opening. With that one you can see if there is a problem with it, if it's not open properly. On diesel engines it must be fully open at all times when engine is running (or at least 90%). Alternatively, you can find someone with VCDS and diagnose what is going on with your car - some people offer that for 20 quid. Or speak to local garage that can do it. You see, sometimes it's not as simple to find out why there is a loss of power, and help of diagnostics can point it out.

    Regards

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  9 лет назад

      Possibly, you'll have to replace throttle body (intake flap motor), you can try to take it apart and clean it, to open the metal plate covering the electronics as this is where oily fluid if there is any will accumulate. But sometimes cleaning might not help, if mechanics are already knackered..

      That flap shouldn't do any difference to diesel engine while running, it just must stay fully open... I don't know, maybe there's some glitch, and it doesn't open properly and engine revs up with not enough air?? Or if gearbox is auto - maybe there is a glitch? You know most of code readers can show throttle opening percentage - you can have a look what's going on.

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  7 лет назад

      You do have a throttle body, which in diesel engines either fully open or shut. If it's shut - you can't start the engine, if it's open - it's all good. Of course it's easy to check if it's stuck in some awkward position. The other valve that gets dirty and gets trouble is EGR valve - that one is always good to clean, I have a video about it. Other reasons can cause rough idling - bad camshaft timing, also on PD engines tandem high pressure pump (as far as I know ) needs to be timed.

      Economy is always worse in the city. What exactly it should be - depends on the car and driving style.. and on temperature as well. Your codes seem to be pointing on manifold flap, which is also known as throttle body. Have a search on forums for it, see what other people say.

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  8 лет назад +1

      So, if you disconnect throttle body and judder stops, wouldn't that be throttle body to blame?
      Please mind, that normally it does make a bit of noise when you shut your engine down, because it closes and opens flap. I showed that noise at the end of this video. If your noise is different and sounds not right, probably something wrong with throttle body. You can take it out, try to open and shut with your fingers, if it's clanky and shaky - consider replacing throttle body (also known as intake flap motor). For reassurance you can find specialist with VAG-COM to scan if there is any errors on intake. If you don't have engine management light on, then simple code reader won't show anything, it must something like VAG-COM, VCDS or anything that can go into different systems. EGR valve also has it's plug (as it shown in that other video). Also, I said before, cleaning egr and manifold is always good, because they get dirty inevitably... Good luck :)

    hello! Why is the electronic full of oil? (my car)

    • @wawayltd

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  7 лет назад

      The purpose of throttle body on diesel are mainly to help to shut the engine down. Rather than that - it stays fully open all the time. Also it prevents the engine from "running away", situation when bad diesel engine start consuming the oil as fuel and revs very fast no matter what you do - even you switch ignition off. The only way to stop it then - is to stop the air supply. If throttle body is not working then you'll have to clog up the air intake with something else (like a piece of cloth). Have a look here on RUclips for "run away diesel" - scary! :) But don't worry - it doesn't normally happen to engine in good condition. I drove couple days with throttle body switched off, before I bought a new unit.

I know recently the guy who owned had changed oil pump and turbo of it and i have 1 year warranty on both of it. Toke the car to a nearby garage and he checked with a laptop and there where none of these errors besides throttle body valve....

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  7 лет назад +1

      That's strange that they don't show on a diagnostics program. I don't know what it could be about brakes - are your pads ok? brake fluid level? These cars in 2005 and 2006 had bad oil pump design, so they were failing a lot - they solved it on later models, went from chain driven to gear driven. If you have a new pump, it's great and even better if it's with the warranty. Also I heard of oil sensors failing (level and temperature), but it is pretty easy to replace. Oil pressure warning though would scare me too. When I had pump failure oil pressure warning was red. I don't know what kind of laptop they use in the garage, but if you had "check engine" light - it should have a record in ECU, even if the problem could have gone..

    • @kaanerdem2822
      @kaanerdem2822 7 лет назад

      i dont have any errors coming up on the screen, just whenever i press "check" button it appears 3 errors and lot of yellowish symbols at the top and they go away. The guy said that i shouldnt worry because it disappears but whenever the errors stay or show up while driving then i should shut off the engine and call my dealer (or the one i got warranty for).
      The first error was from brake, the guy even added some brake fluid to check if the error is "real" rather then check up control of the audi system.
      So may i ask you, did the error (the red symbol for oil pressure) show up while you was driving?

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  7 лет назад +1

      Oh yes - I was driving, then suddenly I had red sign OIL PRESSURE + beeping sound. When you get red warning signal - that means, you should stop and it's unsafe to drive any further. Yellow signs normally just give you warning that needs to bee looked at. Of course things like brake pads would stay yellow even till it goes "metal to metal", but you know what I mean.
      I really don't know how to help you. It looks very strange to me - warning signals with no record in ECU.. Maybe some sort of glitch? If you have warranty (at least for that oil pressure/pump sign) - maybe you should speak to people who sold you the car?

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  7 лет назад

      Yeah, it looks like when turbo kicks in - it's not burning properly (perhaps wrong proportion of the air), that's why it stinks and smokes.
      Could be some other reason, of course, it needs to be looked at, so if you have a warranty - go for it :)

      Sorry Kristaps, I don't have that car for about 5 years, so I can't make any new videos. I have a video about low pressure fuel pump on Skoda Octavia, probably should be similar. But I don't have any experience with vacuum pump yet.

      I can't say, sorry - it can be anything. Lots of people complain about shaking on idle, even I had that before I had to get rid of my Audi, but I don't know what exactly causing it.

      Don't know.. it's either new throttle body doesn't want to hold the pipe, or the pipe is nackered and needs to be replaced. Are you sure it's connected correctly?

      No, not yet. Not for the Audi. I have one for Nissan Primera, but it's different - in Primera engine goes across the bonnet with gearbox on a side, in Audi evrything goes along the car..
      One day, I'll do it.

    Hi,
    i hope you have an answer for me :).
    1. I have a motor sign coming up in my audi a6 2.0 TDI (station vagon) . Can it be because of failure in intake manifold flap motor?
    2. How can i check which product code i have without opening the intake manifold flap motor? Because i see that there are 3 different codes which look almost the same, 03G128063J , 03G128063G, 03G128063Q.
    If you have answer then you will save me a lot of money :). I live in Norway and the workshop has told me that if the problem is in intake manifold flap motor then it will cost me around 1000 USD to change it (including parts).

      +xalidqurbanov also question is:
      3. After you have taken the body out, and put it back in, do you have to install it in car computer again?

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  8 лет назад

      +xalidqurbanov Here's what I can say:
      1. It depends what fault code engine light comes out with.
      2. In most cases very last symbol (letter that comes after numbers) means modification of the same part, and you can use any. In fact, some car parts sellers don't even use that very last letter.
      3. You can clear the error with any code reader, but also the lihjt will go away if new part that you fit works good.

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  8 лет назад

      +xalidqurbanov P.S. You have to drive with new throttle body for a bit before car "understands" and clears the error

    Hello is this Fault code P2100??

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  6 лет назад

      First time when I had problem with it, it didn't give any OBD code. It was stuck closed and I couldn't start the car. Then I called VW specialist, he disconnected plug from it, opened it with a finger and told me to get a new unit. With that plug disconnected, I had a code, but I don't remember what was it. Could as well be P2100. When I replaced it, after some driving code was gone.

      Wow any major problems with the engine ? Do you remember the engine number code ?

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  8 лет назад

      +Mateusz K 2.0tdi produced between 2005 and 2006 had bad design of oil pump, it was chain driven, and many of them were failing. However Audi didn't admit mistake, didn't do any re-calls, so when cars were out of warranty, people had to fix them for their own money, as I did - just 3 months after I bought that car in 2008. Later models (after 2006) were fitted with gear driven pumps, so problem was solved (also for me). Didn't really have any major issues - just what you would expect, when doing lots of miles. Not sure of engine code, probably - BLB

    Hi, I have an Audi A6 3.0 Tdi and have ticking noise just like in this video: ruclips.net/video/eG4-GQFTk9U/видео.html
    Fault codes that are thrown are:
    P161A - glow plug cylinder 6, interruption
    P161F - glow plug cylinder 1, interruption
    P1018 -
    P1016
    P106B
    P2425
    The car drives fine, it just sounds horrible with the ticking noise. Do you think I should replace the throttle body and/or EGR-valve??
    Many thanks

    • @wawayltd
      @wawayltd  8 лет назад

      Quite a few fault codes you have there :) I don't have any experience yet with 3.0 or 2.7 tdi. When I had trouble with EGR on my 2.0dti - it was misfiring and was giving out some codes that irrelevant to actual egr. EGR was stuck in position "open" and engine was suffocating with exhaust gases, when it needed more air. Does your ticking look like a misfire? But, if you're saying it's not affecting performance, then I don't know...
      When my throttle body died, I couldn't start the engine, because it was shut. As I said, I don't know yet how to get to EGR on these V6 tdi's , but if you have chance, EGR system - cooler and valve it is always worth to give it a good clean, even if they not causing trouble yet - they get dirty inevitably. Regarding throttle body (intake flap) - on that 2.0 tdi Audi in this video, I could physically feel with my fingers, that it was closed when it supposed to be open and when I tried to move it - it didn't feel right. Unfortunately, I'm not able to say what exactly wrong with your engine by noise it's making, sorry :(
