Great boat. I love that Amel puts davits on the back for a dinghy instead of having a dinghy garage, which many of the manufacturers now have on their 60'+ yachts. It might not look as "sleek" with a dinghy hanging off the davits, but it gives you several more feet of interior room or storage not having a garage.
@@nodaklojack I think if it had thick stainless steel davits and the dinghy was secured properly prior to the customary 3 afternoon margaritas, it would be safe. 😁
@@RockDocNealAs someone who took a large unexpected wave over the stern a couple of decades ago which took the dinghy, one davit and about ½m² of deck with it I never carry the dinghy on the davits except in flat calm conditions. A dinghy on davits is not safe. I have davits but never carry the dinghy on them at sea.
Iconic boats from a world class boat yard. Did you have a chance to sail her? Incredible design delivering immense sailing pleasure and comfort on blue waters.
Amels really don't sail very well, 26 tons lightship for an 18m boat is heavy. Too heavy. With all the gear on and full tanks that's likely to be 30 tons. Such heavy displacement means heavy loads on the rig and steering. Amels are motorsailors
Aft berths are more comfortable at sea because there's less 'felt' motion. The guest cabins on the Amel 60 are not all the way forward (there's no 'V' berth). It's a nice compromise giving guests a more comfortable sleep in a seaway than would be experienced in a more forward positioned berth.
Very nice boat. I just love AMEL yachts. Like the 2 Corto Maltese pictures they fit fine with the interior decoration and all the boat design.👍👍👍. Well done !
Art is a funny thing, what some call art, others scratch their collective heads, it's subjective, I didn't mind it,I wouldn't buy it if I saw it for sale anywhere though.
Yes, as a full time live aboard world cruiser you could do no better than the Amel, but if you’re looking for weekend sailers and regatta showoff toys, then you’ve got to look for those multi million dollars Italian designer carbon fibre boats !
I still like the protected driving position and the plastic teak decking material, as for the rest of it, meh, not so much it is now less of what made Amel great and closely related to everything that's bad on a Beneteau.
Get yourself a gyro stabilizer b cause your video is almost unwatchable on a large screen. Way too much unnecessary movement. Also SLOW your pans and tilts.
Worst interior colour choice ever made. AMEL should of refused this colour combo on the grounds of ugliness. I mean varnished plywood for the wood? Best boat made tho. Love them.
Having a large bed in the middle of the cabins = It's very comfortable to stay and live in the port! But stay in port with a Halberg Rassy of more than 50 "and more than a shame! So I can still tell you that from experience that on long passages in rough and short seas = on your large in Ilo bed you go from side to side. and often we have to use the saloon bench to sleep, or lie down on the flo between these large beds and the wall !? So why not put double beds in the cabins !? Because in addition = if you have crew for long passages, we can't ask everyone to kindly sleep in the same bed! I think a large corner bed or made in the transverse of the boat for the owner's cabins would be an idea or at least having two cabins with more double bunk beds is also possible !? On boats from 44 "to 64" it is not a problem of space! Note that a sailor's cabin on a large unit is very useful for an owner an a little old help to dock the boat, wash the boat back to port, load and unloading goods and various materials, filling up with fuel and water, emptying the oil engine, on long passages and in bad weather only helping the owner is more than necessary and much more still. It's only my idea, and when we ask in the boat show why there is no cabin with double bed, we are told that the boat works by pushing buttons and that we do not need a Crew! = YES okay! but as I said above = we can not all do with buttons! Having Hallberg Rassy 64 and Amel 60 to stay in port only to take advantage of their large double bed in Ilo = once more is a shame !! Thank you for your opinion
beautiful boat; i can't sail but i sure do like looking at them and dreaming.

I agree. My concern is losing the dingy in heavy seas. Or is that unlikely ?

Now I just need to win the big prize in EuroLotto... 😁

whats the price?
Check with your local broker
do they build 2022 Amel 50 ?
I am not sure

They should get rid of the twin rudders and go back to a skeg hung rudder.

No outside helm? Looks like an Ikea flat pack boat.
I still like it
its selling point is its protected helm under the dodger. very nice and safe when out in the open sea with huge waves crashing on it,
It's not that much more too step up into the 60. Why not?

The large double bed in the owner's cabin has leeboards and a lees-heet that runs down the middle of the bed.
If you can afford the Amel 60 I’m sure you can ask the company to customize the rooms the way you want. Just make sure your check doesn’t bounce.
Amel "sailboats" are for people who are motor yacht lovers inside but have not yet come out of the cupboard.
Modern Amel boats aren't half the boats they used to be.
@@sheerluckholmes5468and they were always heavy boring slow motorsailors.
