The Kerala backwaters are the rather unappealing name given to the peaceful and picturesque palm-lined network of lagoons, lakes, rivers, and canals that run inland from the coast of Kerala, from Kochi (Cochin) to Kollam (Quilon) in India.
Traditionally, the backwaters are used by locals for transport, fishing, and agriculture.
The lush green landscape, diverse wildlife, and houses and villages that line the backwaters make a journey along these waterways seem like a journey through another world. No wonder the backwaters is one of the must-visit tourist places in Kerala.
Getting to Alleppey From Kochi:
Alleppey can easily be reached in just over two hours by prepaid taxi from Kochi or from Kochi airport. Expect to pay about 3,500 rupees. Uber and Ola app-based taxis are also available.
I chose to do a 4 hrs ride on a houseboat, but if you have time and a company you must do an overnight trip. For this 4 hrs trip, I paid Rs.4000 in which lunch was also included. Try to bargain as much as you can and maybe you'll end up with some good deal.

The nearest Boat house service is available at a distance of 5 km from there at Punnamada where you can find there booking offices. Any rickshaw or a cab will take you there. Compare prices and services offered by each. Do have a bargain and enjoy

Tobuild permanent solution for sewage and waste as international standards kerala requires at least 70000 TO its. 100000 crs.
@@technow7992 A lot of private companies did approach from what I heard but it just doesn’t get approved ... the garbage industry is a huge industry .. lot of job opportunities and ways to make money ... it just needs to be worked out .. I hope one day ... just start with mandatory garbage bins inside and outside of whoever starts a business ... we need a recycling plant .. etc

3:00 state run water taxi, water ambulance and rescue and public transport services are already available there, just fyi.. even state run floating 'Triveni' supermarkets are also there ☺️ btw nice presentation mam ❤

I've been living in Seattle.Washington state for over 40 years.I was born and raised in Alleppey less than 2 miles from where you are. Every thing looks the same except I can see there are lots of house boats. I grew up watching house boats in Kashmir.

Look at that dirty couches n mattresses ..r so filthy.. Bedroom is so yuckk i cant even sit there.. How could anyone enjoy in a old n dirty ghissa pita boat.. They should renovate Or do change in these outdated furnishing.. Curtains n bedroom even the dining is also so dirty n old..

It's amazing, I have been there...From my experience, I will recommend to take an individual boat (small and wooden boat also called shikara) that you can easily get in 1300 to 1500 for 4 to 5 hours...That is much better option if you are going for 4 to 5 hours..These shikara are more open and you can feel the nature very closely...They also take a stop in a local restaurant (Island) where you can enjoy local food...If you are looking for overnight stay then houseboat is a much better option

When u get a chance visit Aranmula, a famous place for boat race during Onam, plus Aranmula Mirror, a world renowned handicraft which is made by locals and Gavi a quite place to spend quality time.. Next time you should visit with family and opt for overnight stay. Sleeping in a gently swaying boat is a awesome experience. Moreover AC will be functional only in the night and you can also enjoy a Kerala breakfast.

I am disappointed that these POOR pure Veg people unable to experience our NonVeg specialities. You had lunch in the middle of Vembanattu Kayal ( Lake ) without eating Karimeen- Black Pearl Fish, Prawns, Crabs and en-number of other fishes 😢😢😢. All these are fresh water fishes and what would I say about our Sea Fish varieties ? ( Chup chup ke bol raha hum, Hamara Kerala Paratta & Beef fry !!!!! Kya mathlab hai Zindagi ka ye sab nahi khaya tho ?😁😁😁

Even both coastal of India same as kerala. If you want to see same as kerala simply go to Karnataka with backwaters. Oh all over world you will find exactly same or better but very few marketed it. Now Odisha started with 20x size lake as kerala but no gulf money so no good resorts and poor politics so people & administration not developed as kerala. Same except srilanka or few south central American countries all are incapable. Thanks to politicians of Kerala, a state with 80% poor achieved a lot with in 63 yrs.
