Sorry if you were expecting full out canning instructions (canning times, etc.). It's so controversial, and we knew we'd get a lot of haters for not doing things EXACTLY how the USDA says to (we'll probably still get haters for what we said). So, last minute we decided not to mention canning times in the video. The times that Michelle does are listed in the Recipe Ebook though. Thank you for understanding, and good luck with your canning journey 😊

A secret from my grandmother who was 100 percent Italian. She used fresh carrots in her sauce instead of sugar. They produce so much sweetness and you don’t have to use sugar. ❤️ Great video!
How did she prepare the carrots for this?
@@cathy3951No Italian Grandma, but I have seen some peel and plop the whole carrots in. And others' mince the carrots and leave them in their final product. I believe that that way would require pressure canning.
Plenty of Italian Grandma's recipes on the tube.
That's super interesting.. we'll have to try that. Thanks!
I used to do this, chop the carrots in a food processor really small...it worked! I'm not Italian tho...lol @@morethanfarmers
The tomatoe water can become a white tomatoe soup. I just recently tried it and it's amazing!
Btw, I am also a no recipe gal. 😅
If you peel your tomatoes when canning, save them. Dry and powder them. Instead of tomato paste, take a couple of tablespoons of powder, add water and let sit until it thickens. Add it to your recipe.
Thats what we do too such a great way to use waste up
We may have to try that. Thanks!
Great idea!
We do this too. It actually adds a really great flavor too.
Awesome idea .
If you are concerned about the sugar content in these recipes, you are very welcome to cut the sugar back to your personal taste! I have people asking me, “Do you have recipes for barbecue sauce and ketchup that are actually good?”
The people that ask the question in this way are most likely wanting sauce recipes that taste as close to store-bought as possible😉 So I created these recipes with deep, rich, full flavors… which requires sugar. If you are one of those folks who would rather have a low sugar sauce, feel free to adjust the sugar accordingly. It will not harm the recipes at all!
Also, sorry if you were expecting full out canning instructions (canning times, etc.). It's so controversial, and we knew we'd get a lot of haters for not doing things EXACTLY how the USDA says to (we'll probably still get haters for what we said anyway). So, last minute we decided not to mention canning times in the video. The times that Michelle does are listed in the Recipe Ebook though. Thank you for understanding, and good luck with your canning journey 😊
You will always get haters. Even the Amish get haters. I love water bath canning. It's how my mom did it how her mom did it. Now I'm doing it. Keep canning. Love your videos. And I would've loved to know how much time for water bath. Thank you
Never apologize for following safe food guidelines. Your families health comes first.
I cook the same way. I can the same way. I do follow salsa percentages of vinegar just in case. Actually I blend my skin and seeds up too. Love your video
I wonder if I can make these sauces using canned tomato products (minced, pulped, quartered, etc.). My husband bought insane amount of canned tomatoes during covid lockdown, and I'm afraid they're going to eat through the cans and leak all over, and I don't want to waste them either.
Love this video! No need to waste the tomato water either. The way you do your tomatoes gives you a whole new value added product! I can up that tomato water and use it in soups or to make rice. Getting ready to add some to a batch of vegetable beef soup tomorrow. :)
I also can the tomato water. I like to drink it. It is great for soup to though.
I was going to comment the same. I save the tomatoe water and add to soups. It is a delicious addition.
Do you add lemon juice to acidify it or do you pressure can the tomato water? And for how long do you process it? I was wondering what. Outdoor be done with it so Thank You!😊
Thank you I can erase my post to her
Thank you 😊 For us, we just don’t feel like it’s worth it. That’s a lot of energy and shelf space for what’s mostly water. But that’s just us 😊
One year I had a bumper crop of peaches. After so many jars of jams and cut peaches, I tried peach bar BQ sauce and peach salsa. I just added peaches to my favorite recipes. They were delicious.
That sounds good 🤤
I just planted apple trees all along our garden, and edge of property. I'm hoping that we get a bunch of apples in a few years, but peaches would be nice, too!
Thank you for the tomatoe sauce, BBQ recipes! I was hoping someday you would cover this subject. Codi and Michelle, you make a good team. My husband and I look forward to your youtube videos when they come out. We have our son and daughter-in-law with 6 children watching you now. They just got a homestead this January. They need fellow homesteaders to help them through. God bless your family
Love it 😊 Thank you so much! Hope it goes well for them.
This video is absolute gold for those of us who are trying to learn. Thank you so much, guys. ❤
You're so welcome, Samantha.
I make my smokey tomato flavored sauces by smoking some of my tomatoes. I then process those as it's own 'sauce' and then can add it to my enchilada sauce, BBQ sauce & chili. Super easy and no fake smoke stuff. It's even easier when the hubby is in charge of smoking. Sending support, love, and kindness from Lexington, Michigan, USA
That sounds REALLY good! So cool. Welcome here!
I just recently found this channel and I’m truly enjoying watching. I been viewing some old videos to get more familiar with your family and farm. You guys work so hard! I’m so happy I found this channel ❤
That’s great! Welcome here!
I love all the content: so real and so normal. Keep up the good work.
Thank YOU for emailing the recipes! You’ve made them beautiful to print out too! ❤
Trena from Florida here. I just love your channel and definitely going to make your sauces. Thank you so much!
Please, please do an entire video on canning. I really want to learn how to do this and feel comfortable doing it.
We'll keep it in mind! Our best advice is to find a local experienced canner. If you don't have any friends that can, try a farmers market 😊
Love the frozen tomato shortcut! I’ll try that in July!
Last year I made roasted spaghetti sauce from watching another you tuber ( living traditions homestead)-and Sarah was roasting her tomatoes to can but I took it a step further and roasted everything that I would typically use in my sauce; tomatoes , peppers, onions, garlic, all the seasonings, and a little olive oil… I’d sprinkle a tablespoon of sugar over the whole roasting pan and when they cooked down in about 90 minutes, I used a slotted spoon to lift out the roasted vegetables.
I put them right in my Vitamix, like Sarah was doing in her video. You can put hot liquids in a Vitamix.
Because I used the slotted spoon, I left behind all the watery tomato juice that you were showing came out of your frozen ones.
I would cook everything lightly depending on if it needed to thicken and like you, I would toss in a can of tomato paste if needed before I processed .
Sooooooo delicious! Summer in a jar!!
Sounds delicious!!
Thank you for sharing your recipes!
Thanks Codi and Michelle!
Thank you for this video and the recipies. It was really helpful to see the small batches as its only the two of us now. Your family and farm are beautuful.
Pizza looked amazing. Thanks for the recipe

Thanks for the motivation your videos provide, they are part of what got me to this point 🍅🍅🍅
That’s so cool! Congrats 😊 Keep it up.
Thank you for the great recipes
The editing of your videos keeps me watching. Seriously, well done. Love your content and want to try out the bbq recipe.
Thank you so much! The editing takes more time than anything, so it's nice to know it's appreciated 😊 Hope you enjoy the bbq!
So good, thank you for the recipes, with love from France.
Howdy! You’re welcome 😊
Thanks Michelle! Use the back of the knife to drag the onions or what ever it is so you don't ruin the blade! 🤗💕🤗 Great video, blessings 💕
❤
Thank you 😊
I like watching you guys!! Always have fantastic content to share and watch!! Thank you!
Thank you 😁
Can I come live with you!!!??? 😍😍 these look seriously amazing! I don’t know when I’m gonna find the time to make all of this but I want it all!!!! Awesome job!!! 👏👏👏
😂 If it's your dream and you works towards it, you'll get there.
Consider canning your “tomato water” separately. It’s great for adding flavor to soups, rice, pasta sauces without being a full-on tomato base. Like a tomato broth, basically. I pressure can it.
Not worth the time and space for us, but to each his own 😊
How long do you pressure can it for?
This video is exactly what I needed! I like doing smaller batches of canning so being able to do a few jars of each of these and water bath them together is perfect for just me and my husband! Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Hello from Colorado Springs- New subscriber here... I've loved your videos and your family dynamics. Your platform has the potential to bless a lot of people. Keep up the great content! PS thanks for liquid smoke review, i just ordered us some 😊
Thank you so much 😊 I (Codi) used to live near Canon City.. I sure miss it out there!
Can't wait to try these recipes.
Very good video. Thank you for all ypur efforts and shaing how to end up with a good product. Most cooks and adjust recipes to make to their liking. Youve giving us a great start. Again thanks!
Our pleasure!
Great recipes and very nice video! Thank you.
Our pleasure 😊
I enjoy watching you work. Keep posting new videos.
Thank you! Cheers!
Hi just found your channel and subbed! I can't wait to try these recipes, thanks so much for posting!!
Awesome! Enjoy!
I'm so excited for this video! Thank you so much!
This was so awesome - Thank you, Michelle (and Cody!). I'm new to your channel - love what y'all are doing!
You’re welcome! Glad you’re a part of the tribe 😊
I do the same thing. I pick my tomatoes just prior to full ripen. That way more tomatoes have the energy the rip ones took. The best blender is a Vitamix. It blends skin and seeds. Great content!!!!! You are absolutely adorable!!! Don't worry.....I'm a grandma. Not hitting on you. Lol
Haha, thank you 😊
Instead of tomato paste I use tomato powder from my dehydrated tomatoes. It adds an awesome fresh tomato flavor. I love your channel.
Love every single video, always like the videos, wish you guys the best
My fennel went to seed. Every time I walk past it, it smells heavenly. Thank you for sharing your recipes. Appreciate it.
My pleasure 😊
I just found your channel and have been binge watching a bunch of videos! You guys make this look doable and I like hearing all of your tips. Your editing and personalities also make the videos enjoyable to watch 😊 Thank you for the recipes! Would love to see more recipe and homeschooling content as well (like your pizza recipe!) I really like your content because it’s not just homesteading but also about a way of life with family
Thank you for taking the time share all that. I hope we continue to inspire you 😊 And thank you for mentioning the editing.. I (Codi) spend a lot of time on that, and it's nice to know it doesn't go unnoticed 😊
You’re very welcome! Thank you for the content
😂me too. Made Ketchup, BBQ sauce, marinara, chili base, salsa, sunshine sauce and sun dried tomatoes😂 We had a great year. Love your channel.Just found you recently.❤
Love it!!
Michelle, can you please 1. Tell us where you purchased the pizza skillet and 2. Maybe consider teaching us how you make pizza? (Or point the way to a reliable resource?) Thank you again!
Hi! Here’s the skillet: www.amazon.com/dp/B00008GKDN/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_2ZJB71ZSQSJYF2SJ9JE6?linkCode=ml2&tag=morethanfarme-20
And I bet we can get that pizza in a video sometime 😊
Im going to have to try these!!
Cody & Michele, great content. Thanks for the recipes Michele.
Oh wow!! Thank you so much!! I hope you continue to enjoy 😊
Wow keren
I’ve just started watching but you both have a real natural way around the camera and are good teachers as well. Great videos and thanks for doing these for those of us who are kindred spirits or just want to learn new skills. Don’t let any bummer types bother you at all. Some people just constantly want to be grumpy be know-it-alls. Blessings to you and your family.
Thanks so much!!
Thank you for this!!! I can not wait to try ALL these recipes one day. Love how u always have great tips for making things easier too. Both of u. Love this channel.
Thank you, and you’re welcome 😊 Hope you enjoy!
Just started the video!!!!! Thank you as always. Keep up the good work and if you ever get negative people ignore it, what you both are doing is wonderful and a blessing you have been able to take care of each other and the rest of your family.
God Bless you both and family
Thank you. Hope you enjoyed 😊
Thank you for the beautiful recipes! I am a new subscriber to your channel and I just LOVE how honest and humble and sincere you guys are! I feel overwhelmed pretty quickly, but watching this channel has given me hope that I too will be a homesteader in the future. I especially appreciated the playlist to boost new and aspiring homesteaders ❤. Thank you for the great advice always!
So good to hear! Good luck on your journey 😊
The only thing i can think about while I was watching this video is that i want to have lunch with you guys 😊. It looks so taste!
I've started canning the water that comes off of the frozen tomatoes & use it in place of water in dishes like vegetable soup
Great video and thank y’all for sharing these recipes! After watching your beef tallow video and now this one, I am more inspired to make more things homemade and not buy from the store.. God bless the work y’all are doing 🙏- Tim
You’re very welcome! I hope you continue to be inspired, and blessings on your journey.
I’m so excited to hear about that liquid smoke! I didn’t want to use any because of the other ingredients so thanks for sharing that one! Now if only my tomatoes would ripen haha!
I hope it turns out great for ya 😊
Thank you for the recipes
Thank you for sharing your recipes! I'm excited to try them. And loved learning that I can freeze tomatoes and then just drain off the water since tomatoes do not all ripen at the same time. Also, I love when you laughed at yourself. Its refreshing! Keep up the good work guys!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed 😊
My wife and I make a keto BBQ sauce from our no sugar added ketchup that we make. It keeps things simple! Great video. Thanks for sharing!
Sounds great! Glad you enjoyed 😊
I think i laughed way too much watching this than i should have. those genuine awkward moments was hilarious ! keep up! i'm literally binge watching your video's.
Haha that's great! Glad you enjoyed 😊
You two rock as always. Thankyou.
Thanks Mary 😁
Thanks for the video, you gave me ideas for all the tomatoes rolling in. I tried getting the ebook but so far I haven't received it , not in spam either. I'll keep watching for it. Thanks again.
That's weird! Sorry, hopefully it'll work.
Hi! Thanks so much for sharing your recipes! I made the marinara sauce today! Delicious❤
That's great! So glad it turned out for you.
Great recipes!
I loved your subtle stab at commercial ketchups/sauces: "I'd love to say my sauces taste like those sauces, but I don't add.....crap" I may have paraphrased you :)
😁😁
Thank you so much for sharing your recipes! We eat a LOT of tomato products and my homesteading goal this year is to can all of our own bbq, salsa, diced tomatoes and sauce. Exciting but it will be a lot of work.
Assume! Good luck!
You cook just like I do, I don't measure and if I do I only get close. Sometime my mistakes are better than when I try to get something perfect!
I was going to say: FINALLY, someone who cooks like I do!
❤
Right on! 😊
Thank you so much for the downloadable recipes. I’m in New Zealand, so I’ll have to remember to refer to it when Autumn comes around.
Better plant more tomato seeds then if I’m going to make that much sauce!
You’re so welcome! Good luck!
Love your video! I'm 66 yrs & have been canning for a while, I love tomato canning season. I just recently learned that instead of using tomato paste for thickening, to use apples. You just core them, give a rough chop, skin on & run it through your blender to puree. It worked beautifully as a thickener & I could cut back on sugar since the apple also added sweetness. Also, I added Worcestershire sauce for depth in taste, another new trick that I added to ALL my tomato canning recipes this year. So much good taste & fun times!
Never heard of it, but it sounds like a neat trick!
Thank you!!
Thank you for the smart ideas 💡 and great recipes. Your idea of pouring off the tomato juice was brilliant. I’ve been wanting to try to can beans with the tomato juice since I thought of the idea last winter. So now I’m pressure canning the bean in tomato juice and water bathing the purée tomatoes! :) keep up the great videos because your helping many folks!! ❤
Sounds great! Thank you!
I’m a new subscriber and I’m new to canning. I had reservations about canning because my family and I are more of clean eaters and I use alternatives to sugar and watch for dyes, preservatives, etc. I love that you can and cook with the health of your family in mind.
Also, I tried to make tomato paste this week and it didn’t turn out well. I lost 10lbs of tomatoes 😢. So I have to agree with you about sticking to store bought.
That's one of the main reasons we started homesteading, and now we're happy to help people like you get started! That's a real bummer about those tomatoes. It's hard to see that happen when you put so much work into something. We've had lots of "failures" like that. But, as cheesy as it sounds, we always learn from those mistakes and we keep getting better. Michelle's first sauces didn't taste like this 😉 Blessings on your journey!
I finally ordered the liquid smoke from your Amazon link and it arrived today! I can't wait to try making the BBQ sauce with some frozen tomatoes I have in the freezer!
Woohoo! Let us know how it goes 😁
@@morethanfarmers it is amazing! I am working on the marinara right now! I actually changed our meal plan for tonight too ;) We were scheduled to have fish tacos but this sauce must be had TONIGHT!!! Looking forward to making the other recipes!
Ive just been watching a few of your videos, think you popped up because i watch a lot of homestead videos and small garden growing vegetables. Wow you both have achieved so much in such a short time.
When we thicken up sauce we make a roux just flour and whatever liquid u use or water. And if the sauce gets lumpy just take it of the heat no more lumps😊
Thank you! Glad you’re here!
very interesting video. You guys are good teachers.
Thank you! 😃
Omg I love watching all your videos, I wish I could do more to grow and eat more healthier but appreciate you guys sharing. On one of your videos Michelle mention she doesn’t by cleaning supplies. I would appreciate a video of her ideas if cleaning supplies, disinfectants, and even what you guys use to wash? Thank you 🙏🏻
Sounds good! We’ll try to do that.
I just made your ketchup recipe and it’s fantastic! Thank you for sharing!
Glad you liked it!!
I’m new to your channel!! Love your content!! Thanks!!!
You’re very welcome! Glad you’re here!
Tomato genius, thank you!
I’m allergic to corn wheat sugar and seed oils and many additives so I’m so excited to find your recipes. I’m also growing in containers because of living in a neighborhood hoa and limited space. Raised beds and fabric bags are working well and inexpensive compared to organic produce
Wow, that's rough! Glad you're working with what you have though. Blessings on the journey.
Great video if you are going to can this sauce try arrow root powder or clearjel.cornstarch is perfect for fridge sauce.
I love your cute laugh 😃 ❤ and I love your videos . So inspiring!
Thank you 😊
when you blend the tomato, you need to wait little bit to seperate water and actual tomato. in my country (Türkiye) we made salça aka pepper, tomato or both mixed paste. we grind them and wait a little when seperation happens, we take the water out using some sort of pipe. it reduces the cooking time
You may want to try an immersion blender instead of the blender. It lets you blend right in the pot. I find it very handy.
Just found your videos and am enjoying them tremendously! Learning a few tips too. Thank you
You're welcome! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for these great suggestions. The BBQ SAUCE seems like an easy and customizable. Just imagine adding soy sauce and chinses 5 spice for an ASIAN BBQ SAUCE or adding Ancho and Chipotle spices for a TexMex style BBQ SAUCE? OR adding Calabria chilis fir a SPICY marinara. These recipes are GREAT and customizable. THANK YOU
You got it! That's the beauty of growing and making your own food.
Just subscribed to you too😊
I enjoy watching your videos.
Just found and love your channel!
Welcome!!
Great video ❤
