Sam Bahadur was slated to release on 1 December since the very beginning. It was Animal that was postponed to clash with Sam Bahadur. Animal was originally slated to release on 11 August but was postponed so as to not clash with Gadar 2.
They should have released it next year, maybe on January 15th ie apparently Army Day as well. But idk what urge was there to release it with Animal. 🤦🏻♂️
It felt like meghna Gulzar sir manekshaw ke kisse sunaa rahi hai. Ek kissa khatam hota toh scene abruptly end ho jaata. There was no particular flow to the story. War mai kabhi elevate kiya nahi ki why is the war important, what is at stake. Toh woh jeetne ki urgency feel ho nahi hui. This movie felt like sir manekshaw had a very smooth life which was not the case at all. Kudos to Vicky kaushal and costume and set designers. They nailed their jobs

This movie is made from congress version and it didn't show everything about great Sam Manekshaw. He didn't like political involvement in Army and it hurt Indira Gandhi a lot and because of it congress took revenge by not paying his salary and pension for 30 years which is not shown in movie. After 30 years president Abdul Kalam give him check of 1.25 crores(which was not given to him when he need it more) but in 2008 he passed away. This movie had not shown how congress treat him in reality but given clean chit to congress.
I watched the movie today only, honestly I liked the movie but I had higher expectations, in one word if I have to describe Vicky Kaushal I will say us bande ne jiya hai yeh character play nhi kiya he is fantabulous ,, being from army fraternity myself , I could relate to each n every details, be it the ranks, places , army terminology and protocols everything was well taken care of.. they did a lot of home work.. in fact we met Vicky Kaushal too when he came to our unit.. this film just refreshen our memories of the places where we were posted , through this movie, but movie mein fir bhi bahut kamiyan hain, it lacks in emotions, realism, connection of audience with the film, it lacks in impact which a movie like this could do.. for eg Milkha singh, Uri, border , you can watch 100 times but I must say this movie is just one time watch , bas dekho aur khatam, that’s it.. usse zyada umeed mat rakho isse, achi hai but aur achi ho sakti Thi if they had gone into more details … 3/5 stars

I watched Sam Bahadur today and the movie is Okay as a film. I personally do not think that it has not performed very well only due to the release of Animal. The best thing is Vicky Kaushal's acting. I went to watch expecting it to be a spectacular movie about Sam sir. War movies are very popular in India. However, Sam Bahadur lacked on following points: 1. The movie needed a voiceover narration. It would have been best if they would have used the old radio broadcast style voiceover. As the movie seemed to be made for people like me, who already know about the history of india and Sam Sir. People around me even had no idea about who Sam bahadur was. Hence, it was necessary to establish through narration in the beginning who he was. 2. The movie is very linear. It should have started from the east pakistan liberation preparation scenes and then the backstory should have been unfolded. 3. It was unable to make full use many points. Ex: it could have shown the rise of Sam in India and rise of his friend Yahia in Pakistan, the pain and betrayal east pakistan's general Niyazi felt when he had to surrender on the command of his higher officials in Pakistan, the pain army wives and families feel when their spouses/parents are on the front lines. Also the lack of equipment in the army and the difficulties due to it etc. All these were not fully established and utilised. It is necessary to build the story of the supporting characters to build a spectacular movie. 4. To make a movie that will do good at the box office you have to do some exaggeration and dramatisation. They showed how the army fights actually are (which are painful but not dramatic) rather they should have made them a bit more intense. 5. For the liberation of Bangladesh they should have shot the scenes rather than using only real footage of that time. As an army kid and someone who really respects Sam sir I was left unsatisfied.
Since December 1st is celebrated as the BSF Raising Day,the date of release of Sam Bahadur can't be questioned. I think the.producer-director gave preference to the historical significance of the date keeping aside the BO concerns with a more-hyped Animal. 5:275:27 Problem is not in watching Animal but taking home the concept. If we start considering such acts as heroic, then V need to question and introspect our thinking and decision making. Also how often we give in to such hype.

Good honest and genuine review by Shan. Rocketary, Bhag Milkha bhag has been best bioepics where you can see actual hard work and conviction. Many bioepic films are made with sugar coating and hiding real facts. Had they shown the actual and real facts then this film would have been great. Only Vicky is saving grace of the film; however, other important roles were not really written well. Films like Animals are far better as they made with real all round hard-work and conviction.

I went thinking it would be more like Film division documantry but thank God it was quiet entertaining. Sam falls in love there after his wedding, etc. are not so relevent so straight they are showed with a children. Sensible.

Good honest and genuine review by Shan. Rocketary, Bhag Milkha bhag has been best bioepics where you can see actual hard work and conviction. Many bioepic films are made with sugar coating and hiding real facts. Had they shown the actual and real facts then this film would have been great. Only Vicky is saving grace of the film; however, other important roles were not really written well. Films like Animals are far better as they made with real all round hard-work and conviction.

Don’t u guys research even a bit. Meghna Gulzar has directed Raati, Talvar and Chapaak. It’s not her debut. There might be issues in the movie but plz do some research before speaking as many people see your videos and will then believe this info
I went thinking it would be more like Film division documantry but thank God it was quiet entertaining. Sam falls in love there after his wedding, etc. are not so relevent so straight they are showed with a children. Sensible.
