I'm only talking about myself here, but. My favourite content on this channel, by far, is the "actual woodworking" part of guitar building. Everything from choosing the pieces of wood, cutting, carving, gluing together until the finish goes on. That's definitely what I come back for. Obviously this channel shows a lot more things as well, from other sources of inspiration, luthier teardowns and whatnot, but videos like this one and the previous one are the most up my alley.
Ben...glad to see you behind the bench' with another build...discovered you and Crimson Guitars a couple of years before the lockdown...those vids were a nice diversion from the silliness. Always a pleasure to watch someone with the knowledge, skills, experience and passion build-or-modify-or-fix a guitar...just beautiful. You've had quite the year, appear to be on the right side of it all now...stay with it, you make a difference for a lot of us out here. By the by, I'm the lucky bastard won the R9 VOS Les Paul...that bit about knowing something's really special just by that first touch...this guitar qualifies...thank you, again.
Intriguing build this one! Can’t wait to see what you will do with it! It’s so SO GOOD to have you back on our screens, tricking and delighting! Cheers Ben! May your wood never unintentionally warp, your gold leaf never peel and your dyes never fade! 🥰🥰🥰🍷🍷🍷🎸🎸🎸☕️☕️☕️
Guess who's back, back again, Ben is back tell a friend 😂😂 love this channel been following in you for years and truly love the work and everything you do 🤘
"Let me know if you'd like to see that" (circle stamped pseudo sunburst) Ummm, hell yes. Duh! It sparked an avenue of thought. There's countless art styles that could be applied to custom shop level guitars. Pointillism, Geometric etc. Even reinterpreting traditional guitar finishes (sunburst, silver bust, cherry burst etc) in a different art style, could be an interesting fusion for a limited run series (video and custom shop collection). 🤔 It seems like "custom shop" generally means crazy flame/quilt/burl tops (and exemplary workmanship obvs). But there's a potential avenue for "simpler" tops with unique art. Like the some of the annual Fender masterbuilt Prestige collection.
Ben Crowe aka Rudolph! I absolutely Love this guitar, it as awesome as anyone can be. Love to see you back making "stuff" dear Ben. Peace and long life! 🖖
Am I the only one who found the rubbing sound of the paper on wood almost like fingernails on a chalkboard? I enjoyed the video and the final result, but at certain points I had to mute it!
always good to keep learning about your craft- and also one's self. love the channel and have great admiration for Ben. keep up the good work on both fronts Ben!
I love the way you talk about building a guitar at this year's Glastonbury like it's not going to take you over a year to finish! Still, good things come to those that wait! (Is that hand tool build finished yet?)
I'm happy the "Burn it!" clip for the intro is back! The guitar looks really cool too, the shape has grown on me Edit: Is it just me or does it look almost like there's a skull in the wood grain at 16:16? If you tilt your head to the left and follow the shape of where the pink stain has been applied, you see almost a skull like pair of eye sockets and nasal cavity in the grain!
When you applied the second coat of pink stain, the grain really popped, in what some call the "3D effect" . Would you say that that effect is more in the piece wood, or more a result of the staining process, i.e. could you make this happen on any figured wood, or would you need a special piece of wood to pull it off?
If there is anything i have learned from you it is that the wood TELLS you what it wants to be. If you fight that you end up starting over and going right back to what it TOLD you it wanted to be.
I don't get what's going on at the neck join with the holes/channels. Probs just missed the explanation in a previous video but trying to think of what they're for and why they're there
Getting all my GGBO2021 entry completely unfinished because it was only with the stain that I noticed the horrible job I did with the sanding. It was good enough for an amateur video on youtube (especially for those watching on their phones) but I demand more of myself and I wasn't happy with that.
Thanks for showing the stains. I used the stunning stains (alcohol based) and found that, the 2nd colour simply removed the previous colour, so I ended up pre mixing them. I wondered if using a layer of water base then alcohol base would work and you demonstrated that it does. Thanks Ben.
A Benultimate episode! 'I like that word, Benultimate; one so rarely gets to use it in a sentence.' I like that finish, though I think it wants to be shinier.

Glad to see you getting back to the basics - pushing the envelope when it comes to guitar building.

I missed you man. I don’t even care what you’re doing - I just like your company.
Gold leaf on the inside of the F holes! Just those lines the thickness of the top... As an accent. That would look sick!
Yes yes yes!!! 🎉
That's looking beautiful Ben !!

Ok I’m just going to say it. My name is Paul and I like sanding. Don’t know why I just do.
I really miss this kind of Videos from Ben... Please if it is possible bring back the Luthier's QA also... Wish you the best Ben

Good to see you back on track Ben 🤟

I was thinking the same thing 😮
Hell yeah! I’m always down for experimental staining. What you’re talking about at the end sounds super cool.
Hi Ben. I'm quoting you when I say, excessive sanding is soul crushing. Remember?
When Ben said about next video, before braking the teasing, I was thinking "maybe gold leaf or silver". And yeah, Ben is coming back :) that's fun !
Love the regular vids... keep em coming :D

Old 78 records are made from lacquer break one in small pieces soak in lacquer thinner an you have black lacquer I used on a old guitar it worked

Thaaaaaaank you Ben! Loving it. Cheers
I would never be done. I would sand and apply until there was no wood left. 😂 every step and color looks awesome
Great fun to sit with a beer and watch Ben.
I need to see this sunburst idea in the future!
Hi Ben
it is great staining class !
I can't NOT watch!
Love you man
Like it.
Dude. You’re back, and I’m unreasonably happy ❤️😊

Looks incredible! Kind of wish that was a spruce top.
Isn't the trick for super glue binding to seal with shellac first?
I like a good pink. Good job.
I suppose going off piste on a guitar is less hazardous than going off piste down a mountain.
So glad to see you back Ben. Love these videos!!
Thanks!!!!!
