About 30 years ago my wife and I discussed becoming live-aboards and sailing around the world like the people we would read about did. We found out that we couldn't stand living on the boat for more than 3 weeks at a time. We have been sailing for about 45 years now. We still love sailing but we are getting older. We've met the best people during our sailing time.

First distance race, and we had one crew not show up, then discovered our spinnaker bag contained a genoa. The club launch made a long fast run to bring us a spinnaker as we were heading for the start, the and missing crew came out on another boat at the same time. Talk about threading a needle...at race speed, sandwiched between two motor lauches, taking on crew from one side, swapping sailbags on the other, and feeling VERY much like the filling on an Oreo cookie. Somehow, it all worked out.
Grab racing rides for a while. It really builds your cruising confidence!

Watching you back that 50' sailboat with the skill of a pro one second, then cuddling your cat and looking like a innocent young lady who couldn't possibly know what a cutlass bearing is... but you do... bends my brain to the limits! Carry on cutie pie Lauren Landers, I plan on reading your blockbuster book one day! ✍))) ❤

Awe the boating life, so glad you enjoy it and are willing to share. Business: Zinc anodes, when let out in the air for a while they will form a hard coating that will prevent them from working properly so use a stainless wire brush and go over each of them if you have one that will attach to a drill even better. The sacrificial anodes protect every metal part in your boat. Bearing, shafts and couplings will respond well to a bit of heat (oven, torch, heat gun, induction heater) to expand them or cold (I have used dry ice) or even the freezer overnight such as your shaft bearing helps them slide in quickly until the temperature equalizes. Painting the hull, make sure the ambient temperature and humidity fall within the manufacturers recommendations. I have seen the bottom paint completely come off the hull of a 210" ship in six months and it ate up the new zinc anodes as well because those guidelines were not followed. Sorry for the boring part. Be safe and much success.

I hope that you are already feeling the rejuvenation you needed Lauren. Its strange to leave your boat. I was on board mine for 28 days and that first night on land was a really weird feeling. Not just the stillness of being back on terra ferma, but the little world i was accustomed to suddenly expanded with people and vehicle's. But after a few days I got my land legs back and found myself able to sleep without the boat rocking me to sleep. The main attribute was being able to procure all the things on my list and not have to make concessions due to availability. And the time spent with family and friends was probably the best part of coming ashore. So go have fun, get those soul batteries up to fully charged and get back with a whole new perspective. And of course theres is a ton of work awaiting your arrival! But as ive said, We love them and the pampering is just a reflection of it. And that feeling of knowing that she's as bristol as we are capable of getting her is reassuring when we spot that first squall. Have a fantastic time back in the states and I can't wait to see you full of vitality and eagerness to put in and hoist the main for your next voyage! Happy travels Lauren!

Mainly sailed in New Enlgland with wife for 40 years. Four weeks was enough for us at a time and happy to get home. Boat was also a beach house in Ct. Then came south with boat in our early fifties. Trucked it down. Sailed the Bahamas but too hot and buggy. Very rough inlets in Florida. Water too shalow for a deep draft full keel boat. Motored the intercoastal to Tampa via Lake Okcheecibee. Boring until Ft Meyers. Added a Boston Whaler to our fleet. Dockate is hard to get for the saiboat. Full service yards have turned into condos. Too hot to sail in the summer and the sun beats the hell out of the boat. AC is on all summer. Miss all the different deep harbors and islands in NE. But too old now to sail the old way. So Lauren enjoy the hell out of you twenties. We did and never looked back. Sailing is responsibility. Never forget that. Never forget basic navigation skills. Know every inch of your boat. Good mechanics are hard to find on the south. Nothing stays the same. Put Damp Rid in the boat when its closed up.

Lauren: Your an amazing woman, I have a deep love and appreciation for the ocean as you do. I believe you do or you wouldn't do what your doing. I am watching others here on RUclips that sail the oceans as you and they have someone there to help them as a team even if not at the forefront of there video channel like you are. I say your amazing because you do it all, your Captain, mechanic, camera specialist, video editor, cook fixer, Sailor!! I see you struggle with all these jobs solo, and you deal with it all with it all, with calm and a level head, at least what you don't edit out, but at your age, its rare. As a experienced man with years of knowledge I think it would be difficult for me alone, Plus the fact that alone can be a mind game too. Please, never let yourself get so tired and fried, exhausted that you are not thinking straight and make honest stupid mistakes, simple ones that can cost you your life. I've been a Commercial diver, Soldier, skydiver, climber, adventurer through out my life, its the simple mistakes that get people killed in all these things Ive done. They forget some important step because they are tired or ignore something because its a hassle or they get complacent. You are out there alone with so many variables sweetheart, please take all the precautions necessary to protect yourself. Something as simple as slipping on a wet deck and falling overboard in the middle of the vast ocean in the day or night while underway, because your trying to do it all, film, captain, everything and are exhausted or tired all at the same time. There's nothing wrong with admitting we can't do it all alone in those moments. Catch yourself don't push your limits beyond the limits you know you shouldn't push yourself beyond, just drop sail, float, so your safe, put the camera down, go below make sure your cat is safe and sleep to be fresh and sharp. Then travel on. I think I can say this for all who care about you and are keeping up with your journeys it would be tragic if something would happen to you😢 So, please be careful get the rest you need we can see when your tired it shows in your beautiful face. Always take the precautions you need to be safe. We care, and thank you for sharing your life with us!! When you need friends we are here watching your posts.

While she’s docked up Lauren, get the birds nest wiring sorted and above the floor and other problems fixed, you shouldn’t be constantly concerned with equipment failure. I think that’s partly why you’re burnt out, I wouldn’t think the sailing the Bahamas part would do it.

You relayed so much info in that episode a year ago that I wasn't aware of. You are really a go-getter Lauren. I mentioned about keeping your eyes out for et sky and spacecraft in the open-skies out there in the waters. It's been a pet subject of mine all my life. Good or bad, you need someone you'll listen to who'll tell it like it is, tough love, eye-opening facts. Things like be very careful with burn-out because that's something so real it can easily and without warning absolutely kill your dream, leaving it behind you never to return to it. You may return to it only to get discouraged again by all the work required to get back on the water in the pretty, cozy coves to rest/recharge in. It's basically a balance of the ideal vision vs the hard truths of boat management + online content management + details of personal life management. Seems to me that's a 3 to 1 fight you want to come to terms with in ways that will provide the most enjoyment of your dreams. How you manage it is up to you in the end and I wish you all the best.

Living on a boat is not all sunshine and rainbows. BTDT. The break will do you some good! Hope a teammate(s) materializes. Being alone can be fun and empowering but it takes a different kind for that to be the default. I'm guessing a bf or good friend(s) would really help to make both the highs higher and the lows higher. Good luck - fun channel. Rooting for you.

I like that they put the lines on an angle. We are at Secret Harbour! We know Brian Dale from Farfella as well! We met him at Hop A Nose and buddy boated and met up with him at Jensen beach Florida!

Take care of yourself Lauren. Stop filming, stop working, take a real break! And please stop using those supplements, they are really bad for your health. Stick to fresh fruits and vegetables, you will notice the difference within weeks. We love you and we will wait for you to come back and see you shine again, whatever you decide to do in the future. ❤

Hi Lauren leaving your precious baby so far away must not feel good. You have in the past complained about the AP, my question is why did you go for a hydro vane system and not get a more accurate up to date electronic unit. As more and more power operated items become a must on a boat you need to look into upgrading the batteries to a higher capacity and if possible run off 48V system. If you look at most of the other successful sailing channels they have a well set up battery system that gets them what they need. At the boat show if you get a chance try and chat with those that are there for advice.

You have a bow thruster, doing that should be a piece of cake. Unless your bt is like mine and only works when it feels like it.
