This bass cajon sounds out of this world. The video doesn't quite do it justice. A friend of mine has one of these and for the first time in my life I was tempted to steal an instrument. It' isn't available to buy in my neck of the woods--and it's that good.
That's a good question, brother. I, too, am here for that same reason. To me, honestly, this cajon sounds just like any other. I started using a cajon pedal a few weeks ago (which I absolutely love) and feel that the best way to go is to mike it up, then up the bass from the equalizer. I, personally, wouldn't spend money on a "special" cajon.
Everyone else seems impressed. This is the third demo I have watched for this cajon and Paul is the best drummer, but the drum is mediocre at best. For me it's a cheap drum made of crappy disposable material, so when you say environmentally friendly, I say it will be in the rubbish in a few years. Not so great for the environment. The bass is ok, not great, the snare is pretty tight, but the surface area for playing is cramped due to the ports. I'm listen through headphones and I've heard much better.
I tried one in a store and thought it had a great bass tone. I tend to agree that none of the videos are showing me what I heard in person. Maybe they're not using the right mic? It is a RUclips video after all... If I were you, I would try to get out and see one in person before making a decision.
Based partly on this review and partly on another by the Cajon Master RUclips channel, , I bought one of these--sight unseen, and obviously, sound unheard. It does not have a nice sound, and I am sending it back. My only other cajon is the A Temp Dos Voces, so all comparisons are made with that. My A Temp has a warmer bass, better snare, more snap in the corners, and has a definite gradation from bass to open tone snare, so you can get a wide variety of sounds. This Meinl Jumbo cajon does not compare. Yes, the base is deep, but not warm, not at all, and has sound leaking from the snare. The snare at the top is not dependable, some spots are louder snare and some are less; e.g. the top one inch has no snare sound at all, then it suddenly gets stronger, but sounds rather tinny. There is no difference playing on the top middle compared to the top towards the side. The manufacture says the corners are adjustable, but I found they were dead, and loosening the screws made no difference, nor were there any instructions on how to adjust it. This cajon is made of MDF, not hard wood, and MDF does not produce nice sound---but it is cheaper to make. The A Temp is hard wood and sounds very warm, with some snap in the corners At $200, this Meinl cajon is not cheap and has no carry case. The A Temp costs about $260, but does come with a carry case. So they fall in roughly the same price range. So to conclude, according to my experience, the Meinl is inferior, by a long margin. I am sadly disappointed, and will go back and buy a new A Temp if I need a new cajon.
Not too good a presentation....especially the sound.... No need to shows the "virtuoso", but accent the areas, the style of playing that Cajon.... Using of brushes, pedal, betc.

These actually sound pretty beefy in person, I do not think this video did it justice..
Yeah whoever mixed the audio in this flatened out the low end.
Carajo hasta donde llevo el cajón. Todo un fenómeno algo tan simple.
My roommate gave me his before he moved out...very cool drum..
Very cool roommate.
THE SOUND CAME AT LAST 5SEC. OF THIS VIDEO THAT WAS WHAT EXPECTED ...BUT COULDN'T FIND THAT IN WHOLE VIDEO....EXCEPT THAT LAST 5SEC
Spectacular demo 👌
Goodness gracious, I just heard this using a Subpac!! 👌🏽👌🏽
Hey, yea it's pretty nuts isn't it. :o
Does it work well with pedals, the DW cajon 5000 for instance?

Best cajon ever.
Very beautiful Jumbo Bass :)
+i Faber Yes, it is pretty big sounding! :)
When I hit the top of mine I still get a Bass sound. How do I get more snare sound from the top part?
It's awesome

listen to this one with headphones on ruclips.net/video/0HGsAx2KjPM/видео.html
I'm listening on headphones too and hear incredible subs in this demo. Maybe check your choice of headphones.

That's funny, wal-NUT on a Cajon, (cojones).😆.... I actually built one of these, it sounds good but I'm still not that great at it.
Don't get scammed. It's something he found at IKEA and just turned around then glued vinyl wood foil to it.
