In stead of leaving the old wall in the woods, i suggest you dig a few feet down in front of the opening, dump the old wall in there and then grade it up with the gravel, or use the old wall as filler next to the pole barn.

Evan and Rebecca...I have so enjoyed watching from your start building your Countrymark Log Home. Watching the tons of work you have done to improve your land, the pole barn, etc. is just very nice. You must have Dutch, and, or German blood as I do, and I am as driven of a person as you both! A Perfectionist of sort! I'd like to see a video of just how your house has weathered since the build. Because of my health mostly, and after watching your log home build I sold my retirement home I only built six years ago in North Fort Myers, Florida, and moved back to my native Michigan with plans to put up a Countrymark Log Home. We just moved in October to Holland, Michigan, and are searching for land between here and Saugatuck. Sometime within the next two months we are going to drive to Countrymark's office Indiana to discuss plans, etc. Thanks to you I researched six log home builders in Wisconsin., Indiana, and Michigan and found Countrymark to be my preferred choice. I wanted to send you a recipe for your hash browns, but been way to busy, so look for it coming your way in our slow USPS! Thanks Again.

I think I would give some thought over the winter to how you might excavate some of the dirt in the ramp area and filling in with the broken concrete as a base for the gravel. Otherwise, your gravel will disappear over the years into the soil.
