He did an interview the other day and said he actually had 29 amateur fights. 26 wins by knockout and three losses. He wasn't bragging about the knockouts, he was making a point of mentioning the three losses were to the same opponent. That some opponents have your number and that if he had fought a fourth time against this opponent he would have lost again. He doesn't have a giant or sensitive ego like most fighters.

Poatan even if he loses to Adesanya I would still think he can trade with Ngannou
First: Poatan has a body compatible with heavyweights
second: Ngannou has more power in his hands, but Poatan has 70% of Ngannou's power, but Poatan makes up for it in the technical difference in striking. Ngannou is easier for Poatan to hit him than Adesanya who has the best distance control in the entire UFC
And in Jiri's category if Poatan goes up I'm sure he'll win, Jiri is very open, it's easier for Poatan to get this belt than Adesanya
Doesn't it seem strange that in 3 categories, the most difficult for Poatan to knock out the champion is precisely Adesanya, who is the lightest category? 😁😁😁
It may seem like a conspiracy theory, but Adesanya and Poatan have the two best striking in the UFC, Jiri and Ngannou automatically come out behind Poatan in the standup, only Adesanya can keep up with him
Adesanya did not succeed in moving up the category because he does not have a body for heavyweights
And not even power in the hands to knock out heavy fighters
But Poatan has the two weapons needed to do that.
It's because Ngannou is a monster, if he was Miocic maybe he could

Alex Pereira is such a badass! Been following his epic career since early in his Glory kickboxing days! Only simultaneous two weight world champ in Glory history. I could see him moving up to 205 in UFC and winning the title there once his mentor, Glover, retires. Such a gift that he has come to the UFC and beat Izzy again for the MW title. Poatan!!!!

Another amazing thing about Alex is that he never stops evolving. His low kick and checking game are pretty new to his game but he’s already arguably the best at at. 15:05 even so early in his career, his strike is just so crisp and well timed and well executed, he's a sniper for sure, there's no fluke in his knockouts. The combination at the end is just art, start with the knee, 1 2 head, hook to the body, his level changing at such an early time in his career, the flow, he was destined for this game

I've never seen anyone this confident in themselves. Do you see how he stops as soon as he knows his opponent is finished? He can throw 1 strike, keep going, 2 strike, keep going, 3 strike, opponent is still standing - but he knows he's finished. Stops.
He NEVER chases the hammerfist, he never closes a match-ending kick with another punch.
He just straight up dominates and knows himself so well that he knows the opponent is finished before his opponent or the referee does.
The way he stands there after every K.O, the way he walks away while his opponents are trying to chase him after hitting them with a brain-damaging flurry.
This dude is an actual beast.
