    Enjoy your videos guys, keep up the good work.
    Just a tip for yuz if you didn't already know. For sealing gasket sealer tubes, I go to Bunnings paint dept and look through their box of silicon nozzles (free - just ask) and get the ones that have a red screw on cap on the nozzle. You can use the cap on other nozzles too, 'cause they're threaded inside - ya just gotta push a little harder when screwing it on.
    Personally, when fitting anything ( sump, water pump, manifolds etc ) that's got sealer on it, I use long studs threaded into the block to guide the part on and not disturb the gasket/sealer out of line. A good tip for sealer is Hylomar Red for water, Hylomar blue for an oil/fuel sealer, a Rolls Royce mechanic put me on to it. It never sets to possibly break off to end up inside a tranny or engine - unlike silicone, and if need be you can pull the part off to reposition it if need be.
    Just my two bobs worth - with inflation two cents, each to his/her/it's own.

    So you don't put sealer on the bolts before putting them in? Those alternator bolts had some sealer on them. I also have a plumbing dope I could use.

    Nice easy simple to follow video guys, Nice work,, Even the Low five from the bro- haha- I was going to ask the question as well about the bolts having a smear of silicon on them, I have done this, but as you say- Silicon on the other edge normally spread arounds bolts anyway.. Would you recommend a product called "Indian Head & Gasket shallac - You may have heard of it- Great work tho boys, Love your work, haha- And the "whistles of Awesomeness" from the bro, Cheers Garyth NZ

    Hi guys.
    I got a new water pump for my 351 Cleveland. Come with 2 gaskets. They are slight different. Is the other for the timing cover plate ?

    • @thclevoking
      @thclevoking  3 года назад

      One is clevo one is for the clevor or boss style builds.

      @@thclevoking The pump I bought came with both gaskets and a nice assembly drawing. According to that drawing, the gasket you installed in this video goes between the plate and the block, not the pump and the plate. I'd be happy to send a pic if you like. The one between the pump and the plate has more open spaces for the centrifugal sling of the water path.

      @@jessemidgett1648 the only time you need two different gaskets is with an electric water pump they run a 2mm steel or alloy plate to block off one of the 3 big water jackets so it can work with the two outlets on the electric style pump with two legs.

    Do you need to put any sealant on the bolts at all , do they go into the water jackets at all

    • @thclevoking
      @thclevoking  4 года назад +1

      No the silicone on the gasket usually gets around the threads a tiny bit and helps it seal

    The gasket installed in this video is the wrong one. It is supposed to go between the plate and block, not between the pump and the plate. The manufacturer of my replacement pump sent both, with an assembly diagram of the installation locations of both, as well as instructions on how to tell them apart.

    • @thclevoking
      @thclevoking  2 года назад

      There is a huge opening behind the timing cover no room for a water pump gasket back there. The two styles are for when you use an electric water pump with an adaptor plate.

      @@thclevoking well, the perimeter bolts are the same either way, so there won't be a system sealing problem . I followed the pump manufacturer's directions and had not removed my plate, just the pump, so I have the one they show between the plate and block left over.
