Is this something you'd think about picking up for Christmas or as a birthday present? Would you want to see something similar in a 3/4 scale sized machine?
Definitely gifting myself one at some point. I have several of the original Tomy games these are based on, so it'd be hard to justify it as a gift for the kids. Plus, I already played that card with an ATgames micro pinball back in October, haha.
Nick - you couldn't possibly expect solenoid/electric flippers in a product like this, plus I'm telling you those flippers are silky smooth. The next level real pin you can buy new - ones with electronic flippers - cost over $6000. But it would make a fun gift for sure....
@@evilgeniusentertainment The issue for me is that different shots from the same area of the flipper could be vastly different. But I digress, perhaps learning how to control the power of the flipper is an additional skill one could master. I’d have to try it out myself.
Evil Genius Entertainment, THIS IS CRAZY! I was just on Amazon yesterday and came across a Pac-Man Pinball machine, same company, and searched for a video to see how it played. The first video that came up was an older video of yours. You did a review of a smaller version of the Ambassador Tabletop pinball, it wasn't the Pac-Man one I found on Amazon, but it was the same layout. I decided today I would stop by that same video and let you know about the new variant I found, but HOLY MOLEY, you got some Pro models of this machine that I didn't even know existed! The timing couldn't be more perfect! I wanted to let you know that your review on these machines were very well done! It definitely sold me on this. I used to get these tabletop machines for Christmas when I was a kid, and they'd pretty much immediately broke after a day or two, but I didn't care, they were just so fun to play! And I'm a HUGE fan of Pac-Man, but the crazy thing is, the general version actually looks more appealing to me and I think that's the one I'm going to get. I'm glad I came back to revisit your older video and found this new one. I'm definitely going to pick up the Pro version over the original now :) Have a great one! vgv
An almost exact replica of Tomy's Astro Shooter/American Pinball/Pirate's Treasure toy pin from the 1980's. Only thing missing is the right-hand ramp that went past the upper flipper to drop the ball into the rollovers over the bumpers. I would hazard a guess Ambassador has the old Tomy toolings or made clones thereof as the patents have expired, as their previous release is also an updated clone of Tomy's Atomic Pinball toy pin from the same era. Not that I'm complaining. Have the original Astro Shooter, and it's the king of the toy pins in my opinion. Active pop bumpers, kickout holes, ramp shots, what's not to love?
I bought my nephew the original Tomy Astro Shooter (with the exhaust/burner picture in the middle) and when the bumpers are hit they make laser noises. I notice that those sound effects from the bumpers are not present in this new version? The old version also had the score, really pump up when hit into the kickout holes from what I remember. I do wish that one of those holes gave you a multi ball.
I wonder if there would be a market for this sized pinball maybe twice the size but make it ultra premium with premium components and better programming.
I don't that would work. I have added rheostats to other machines to get control over the volume, but likely won't for this - it's a loud machine even without the music, and I tend to use it in the gameshack on Friday nights; meaning I have all the machines and music pumping, so noise isn't really a factor. YMMV!
I own the original Astro Shooter, and I bought the Electronic Arcade Pro Pinball machine a couple weeks ago after playing the smaller Atomic Arcade re-make. These are great updates. The Pro Pinball plays very similarly to Astro Shooter (down to the loud motor noise). Very happy to have this - leds are great. Thanks for the review. I found your channel when I was looking into whether or not to buy the smaller version.
It would be nice to know more about the ruleset. Is it just going to be a "how long can you keep the ball alive"? or are there some more complex scoring options? Are all versions the same rules?
Rule set very basic - just chasing high scores. When you get the ball to the subway tunnel is does start a bonus scoring round. Far as I can tell, the Pro versions share the same rules/scoring; the "normal" version all share the same scoring/rules set.
Hi JDV! Thanks for this review! Awesome job! I ordered the neon version earlier this month, the Pac-man version however (still waiting for it tho) mainly based on your review. Had I known this was going to be available I'd have ordered this one. Well. it will happen anyway :) haha. Keep up the reviews which I love very much! Cheers!
Ramps would be awesome... but would never fit in a tabletop like this. And yes, I've already begun pestering the guys at Ambassador for an even bigger version! We shall see....
JDV -thank you for another incredible review - I greatly appreciate all the work you put into it. I had the 80s version of this game and think think they did an incredible job updating it - and thankful they weren't stingy with the amount of LEDs lol. Definitely will be getting at least one of these. I don't understand others complaining about the noise though. as its a small price to pay for how well this machine works given it's size. I hope you're successful in convincing them to make an even bigger version.
Richard - hey brother, thank you so much for the kind words! About the noise... pinball in inherently noisy. The whole object is to shoot around a metal ball as fast as possible while music and sound effects are going off. ALL table-tops are loud as fudge; this unit then is essentially par for the course on that account!
Very cool looking, the Pac-man is $90 at BJs, but it also on their Black Friday ad for $60. Guess I'll wait and see if I can snag one for the lower price.
Still have my Zizzle Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man’s Chest 3/4 size. I bought at Best Buy on clearance for $100 in 2007 I wish they still made these…
Right there with you (trying to convince Ambassador brass to make a 3/4 scale version even as we speak!). Been trying to find a good copy of PIRATES for $300 for a while now.
Ordered mine. Got Pacman. Saw a review where the guy had to put the stickers on. Did you have to do that? This is gonna be a great addition to our home arcade. Thanks
Just an FYI, the Pac Man version of this Electronic Arcade Pro Pinball is on sale at BJ's Wholesale Club for only $59.99 currently for Black Friday. I just bought one online and am picking it up tomorrow when they open. I'd post a link, but I think RUclips deletes web links in posts. Grab one while you can.
@Steph_7d7 I really enjoy it. It plays and scores better that the old Tomy gen 2 tabletop pinball games. The motor that kicks the ball out from under the playfield is noisy, but the Tomy ones were too. It doesn't bother me that much. Definitely worth my 60 bucks.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention! UK side Smyths Toys only have Pac-man, I'll have a nose around. 👍 As for the slightly smaller versions that have been out for a few years I managed to get the speaker more quite. Get a strip of electrical tape, about 2inches long, stick one side over half the speaker, make a loop but don't join that loop making sure there is a gap of a few millimetres and stick the other side down over the other half of the speaker. Your basically allowing the sound to come out of a small slit..., the sound will be much quieter, if you want it louder make the gap slightly bigger. Being electrical tape it's easy to take back off.
Thanks for the review! A legit product basically the pinball equivalent of Countercades and Evercade Alphas. Thanks for the excellent break down and review And it’s totally an A 👊🏻🕹️😎
Ted - hey thanks man! And the comparison to countercades/evercades is spot on. They really did pack so much into a small package. When I saw the ball go down the hole only to pop up on the other side, I really was blown away. Incredibly hard to pull off in a tabletop.
Thanks for the review... so the couple other reviews said they returned it because it was really was way too loud. You don't think this is major drawback then from buying one?
I mean, it wouldn't keep me from buying it - it's not inherently too loud. I suppose it's about context - on a Friday with the whole arcade on, it would seem like nothing. On a Tuesday school night at 11pm, it would be way too loud. I mean, it's a small hard plastic machine shooting a metal ball around as fast as it can while smacking it with paddles....
the original Tomy Astro Shooter is very loud, so these are probably the same. The whole thing runs off one electric motor and it's noisy. I assume these are a little better, but still noisy on their best day.
I ordered from Amazon around Thanksgiving. Got email a week later saying package was undeliverable. Then reordered and a they sent the smaller version not the pro I ordered. Then reordered again only for the package never to arrive and Amazon canceling my order. Now it's sold out and I can't get one for Christmas. Very upset. I tried but now will not be getting this machine

Nice video. What was not mentioned, but extremely important, is whether the actual gameplay is FUN or not? Does it have replay value? Multipliers? Objectives? Actual complexity? Or is it basic. Looks basic, which will likely not hold interest after the novelty wears off.
Hey, thanks for watching! I think it has as much replay value as is possible for the form factor. Perhaps the dirtiest secret in real world pinball is that no matter how amazing the game is, you will, eventually, want something else. That's why pinball games are so often traded for other pins, vs out-right sold. (it's also the major advantage V-pin has over the real thing). This particular unit reminds me of early solid state pins; you're mostly in it to bang away at the ball for a simple, bu fun, time. Hope that helps!
The Pac-Man is cute. I only have full size pins and arcades in my converted garage home arcade, but this would look cool lit up on my wall if I could figure out a way to mount it.
Already? Gee, that was fast! They very nice little machines for the money; a nice little "Taste" of real pinball since I sold my full-sized machines. Interesting to compare "real" pinball physics with the 4KP/Zen's version (which is surprisingly close).
It's just cool that they're even making a product like this anymore. THat it's also been really thought out and jam packed with new tech makes it even better.
I would totally consider this it it were 40-60 bucks cheaper. 140 dollars is VERY steep for a toy pinball machine. Looks very cool though! Also, I’d like to point out that the Brio pinball game has two subways (or secret tunnels) under the playfield.
I don't know S.J.C. - all of the other tabletops that even come close to this machine are going for around the same price; pinball is a hobby where you can spend a thousand dollars just on a topper. For what you're getting, I think it's pretty good deal! Looked up Brio pinball; couldn't find a model with a subway tunnel (if you have a link, I'll check it out!)
I'm definitely getting this!!!! Did you know you're a dead ringer for actor Donald Moffat out of " "TheThing" and Android REM from "Logans run" the series...😁👍👍
Hmmmm. Good video but I'm not sure an adult would enjoy playing this often. Maybe to get a child interested in pinball? Idk. $150? I think a used ipad and digital pinball would be much more exciting.
I mean, you're not going to play it for 4 hours a week for the rest of your life. But if you enjoy a nice, fast, game of pinball in a small form this is without a doubt the best option out there. I can definitely seeing playing it every Friday night when I go out to the shack to actually game (as oppose to kicking out these videos). YMMV
they're more than meets the eye. I've had a Tomy Astro Shooter for almost a decade, and it was old when I bought it. But, it's a really fun, simple pinball. If you can score over 100k, you're really doing something. It sounds like you can earn extra balls on this new one which adds a whole 'nother gameplay mechanic.
trying to find the most omish non electronic one. table top if possible. Is this one actually good. Still needs battery's. Still looks pretty good. everyone liking it? Is there better ones? money isn't to much of a factor. Don't have the room at the moment for a big one. One day i suppose. For now just pinball fx on the computer.
Interesting product, but weird that an almost 20 minute review makes no mention of gameplay rules?! I suppose I can infer that there basically are none… just a flat X points awarded each time a bumper is hit or something. Shame, just even some very basic rules (hit X to light multiplier… like you see in 70’s era pinball machines) would have made this awesome and a must buy for me… as it is I’ll probably pass. Weird that a make or break piece of info like that isn’t even referenced in the video though.
Honestly, that's just not my use scenario - I like for the flick a button and start banging away aspect of it. To be sure, this is not a "deep" pinball game, but it is nice to be able to earn up to 5 extra balls. Reminds me more of an EM or older solid state pin in that regard....
I live in the stick, so I lose power on the reg (just last week as a matter of fact), so having the ability to jam on some pinball even with the power out is actually pretty sweet! But yeah, you don't see "C" batteries used in too many things anymore do you?
Why did they make pink flippers on the Pac-Man one / it would had made more sense they would have made the flippers yellow not pink / it’s Pac-Man / it’s not Ms. Pac-Man / what was they thinking lol 😆 / it’s a pass for me / it’s definitely not worth the price tag because of it’s cheap quality / sorry to say / Side note it needs 2 more skill shots options a ramp or 2 / 2 would be better / and needs the both lower sides spring bumpers to move the ball side to side / i always like to see that when i played pinball in the arcade and complete bottom rubber feet to keep it from not moving around when playing / i put in some thought with this one / It’s my 🎁 to you Marry Christmas🎄if the company decides to make a updated one later on
I think it is awesome, I just don’t think it’s 150 dollar awesome to me. Some people may love it and 150 bucks is ok for them but me it’s a no go until it goes under 100.
ordered it for christmas. was excited. she let me try it to make sure it functions. loud grinding sounds. it's cheaply built. i suggest not buying. very disappointed.

It's a very fun mini-pin, definitely old school in many ways. The LED lights are fantastic....
Maybe a fun gift. I can tell you that I would have loved this as a kid. The mechanical flippers are the deal breaker for me.

5 C batteries, just like the ones in the 80s / 90s. Would've been nice if it was rechargeable, but glad they're bringing these back.
This is shockingly good for a tabletop pinball game
It's just cool that they're even making a product like this anymore. THat it's also been really thought out and jam packed with new tech makes it even better.
Pfff bullshit
@@evilgeniusentertainment what new tech? LED lights. SHILL
The Pac Man one is very cool! Nice review.
These will throw Visual Pinball X against the wall. Fancy lights, though... 😂
VERY fancy.
@ I suppose that’s a good point. Also I’m not sure if there are any real videos of it now that you mention it. I may have to make one at some point.
@@evilgeniusentertainmentJust uploaded a quick gameplay of it. You can see both of the subways in action :)
I'm definitely getting this!!!!
Did you know you're a dead ringer for actor Donald Moffat out of " "TheThing" and Android REM from "Logans run" the series...😁👍👍
Well, I will admit that Mr. Moffat & I both have shoe-box shaped heads.....
Not available outside of the States.
Good to know! If that changes, I'll put up another video....
@@evilgeniusentertainmentit seems to be available on Amazon UK too
Kinda love tabletop games
Yeah, something about them is just inherently fun & nostalgic.....
Exactly - it's a genre onto itself. There's a surprising number of tabletop fans out there. And this new machine, IMO, is the best of 'em.
Why don't they make small real pinball games like this more?
Uh, they do!
Agreed - not horrible, but definitely not prices where you go, "I HAVE TO BUY IT!!!!".
trying to find the most omish non electronic one. table top if possible.
Is this one actually good. Still needs battery's. Still looks pretty good. everyone liking it? Is there better ones? money isn't to much of a factor.
Don't have the room at the moment for a big one. One day i suppose.
For now just pinball fx on the computer.
I Loooooooove the Pac Man!!
I would like to see the smaller Pac-Man in action.
Can you please make a short video of Pac-Man gameplay without commentary.
Ray - Give me a day or two, but sure!
@evilgeniusentertainment thank you
Hey Ray, you got it (figure 'round this Weds).
Ein klasse Flipper.
Nothing else like it on the market right now!
You can run it off 5 C batteries like its 1983.😂
I live in the stick, so I lose power on the reg (just last week as a matter of fact), so having the ability to jam on some pinball even with the power out is actually pretty sweet! But yeah, you don't see "C" batteries used in too many things anymore do you?
@evilgeniusentertainment Man I got a Harbor Freight generator and got a transfer switch installed. $1700 ish for all. Recommend
My fancy AA rechargeable batteries have C adapters that work great.
Why did they make pink flippers on the Pac-Man one / it would had made more sense they would have made the flippers yellow not pink / it’s Pac-Man / it’s not Ms. Pac-Man / what was they thinking lol 😆 / it’s a pass for me / it’s definitely not worth the price tag because of it’s cheap quality / sorry to say /
Side note it needs 2 more skill shots options a ramp or 2 / 2 would be better / and needs the both lower sides spring bumpers to move the ball side to side / i always like to see that when i played pinball in the arcade and complete bottom rubber feet to keep it from not moving around when playing / i put in some thought with this one / It’s my 🎁 to you Marry Christmas🎄if the company decides to make a updated one later on
I never had one of these as a kid, now I will have one, it will be mine...muahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!
there you go!
Too small and simple.
It’s just like watching a home shopping network ad.
Dude this is a REALLY COOL TOY…for an 8 year old. Why are u reviewing this. Credibility waning.
They're all toys.
