I remember when this first came out. My group and I struggled for hours trying to get beat the boss. When we finally survived passed the water phase and managed to get it down to 0%, we were all celebrating and cheering in our voice chat. But in a few seconds into that party I was like "wait... guys... something feels off." And then the lasers came. We all panicked. And then we were slaughtered. Took a solid ten minutes to start the fight again after that because we were laughing too hard play straight.

Dude I had a similar experience. We got first phase down pretty easily and I was like, “That was barely different from the normal mode. Basically just the ‘spread out’ circles were bigger.” Then I was like, “wait why is it getting dark? Why are there several voices saying I’m worthless and it’s all my fault? Oh god no……”

So I joined a pug group. Told them I was new to CMs but just got 150ar and I offered to leave them be if they didnt want me. They told me to stay. They had me watch this while they set up the group then guided me through it. I got the Dances with Demons achievement first go... (they informed me this was a pretty cool achievement to have)
Asked if they regularly ran together and they said nah, they all just met.
Some guys out there in the LFG are legends 🙌

    Nice guide.
I would like to add that the more dmg you deal to the boss, the more mechanics you can skip and the easier the fight becomes (e.g. no water jump phase). Also bringing a portal for phase 1 - meteor makes the fight so much easier.
Also as necro players, make sure you don't touch the Guilt beam as it makes your epi deal less dmg, resulting in a higher fail chance of killing off the sorrows.

Disclaimer: just talking about the mechanics in More Detail here since muk Got some of those Details wrong in the Video. If u dont care keep scrolling.
Kinda weird that ud suggest using a Portal for water phase but not fire. Considering u can just as easily clear water phase while ur outside the tornado. It literally does not change anything. (Or u know. Just press w and Walk back into it)
While using a Portal on fire phase makes it so u can drop the meteors on ur team and everyone just Ports to Middle before they land and smash ur team. Its a very well known strat Used alot in pugs so it wouldve been nice to mention it so people dont run around like headless chicken and get squashed by literal rocks. While being confused about everyone stacking and someone pinging a white mantle portal
Also a small correction for dark ai. At 33% both sorrows spawn at the same time. There is no need to "wait for the second sorrow to spawn" as u put it. (5:00 - 5:05)
What actually happens is that the Lady with the Tether spawns First at 33%. And afterward both sorrows spawn simultaeniously to the left and right of the Tether Lady. So yes u still have to time ur epi right but instead of waiting for sorrow nr2 u actually wait for both of them to spawn at all. Since u otherwise throw ur epi onto tetherlady who doesnt have hp or breakbar. So it does nothing.
Also also u dont have to break the bar To clear sorrows. As epi only copies Soft cc its never enough to clear the sorrows by breaking break bar. Epi instead just kills em with dmg from the copied conditions.
(as u can also see from the Video at 4:27. Breakbar is at around 80% while sorrow hp is at 12%. Epis kill them instead of breaking bar which is an important distinction since u need a decent amount of condis to bounce with ur epi in the first place to achieve this)
Both ways are fine, cc is usually easier though since its faster to apply and guaranteed to work. Aside from epi there are almost no condi builds out there that could burst the sorrows fast enough. So its either kill with epi or cc.
(If the breakbar of a sorrow gets broken it simply disappears. No need to do any sort of dmg on it.)
Fyi u "need" 2 epis if u want to go the kill route. 1 scg cant do enough dmg with 1 epi and 3 is Overkill but obviously still works.

      Thanks for the feedback!
I didn't mention the fire portal because honestly my groups don't use it. We did it once and felt it just needlessly added "one more thing" we had to manage and the mechanic was simple enough without portaling there so we didn't bother. If your group operates better with that then by all means, portal away.
The sorrow spawns I'll have to double check next time I'm there. I swear I've had wipes where the scourges cast epi too quickly after the first sorrow spawned and it didn't hit the 2nd one, leading to a wipe, but now you've got me doubting, so for now just "Make sure they are both up" at that point for new scourges doing the encounter.

@@MuklukRUclips i understand ur reasoning behind the fire Portal but i feel that explanation is a copout.
After all these get to the point guides are aimed at beginners right?
So u shouldve at least mentionend that a fire Portal strat exists because it is very commonly used in the lfg. so beginners are confused their first time alot. So knowing about that beforehand helps. Also i dont feel like the fact that "ur group doesnt need it" should be the determining factor of if its useful information or not to be included in the Video. Since u guys clearly run things different from the norm( starting with the Kinda unecessary waterportal, and ending at the non meta teamcomp) so u might encounter different issues then beginners simply because u put ur own twist on it.
All of this to say, ive had loads of people die on fire Transition Cause they were new there and didnt know where to go. Waiting for a Portal and Pressing f After everyone else does is alot easier. Especially since 1 Person is doing the Portal. The other 4 Players literally only need to follow. Not even a need to use ur brain for anything. So i feel like saying it adds unecessary complexicity is just untrue. Its the responsibility of a single Player, and compared to water phase it saves u from alot More harm and hassle.
Dont get me wrong if u feel like its to much for ur run specifically sure,u do u.
But since this is a beginners guide something as simple as, "take a Portal at 66% if there is one" should at least make it into the Script. Or properly explain how to survive the meteors. At the Moment the Video just tells me to freestyle meteors, which lets be honest wont turn out that well for most people.
(By freestyling i mean u do explain the mechanics but there is no suggestion for which actions u want to take to make it easy and repeatable, which would be a big winrate increase. If u can apply a heuristik to the situation that tells u how to deal with it reliably.)
In regards to the sorrows i promise u they spawn at the same time. U can even double or triple check any dark ai speedruns that clear the sorrows to see the most accurate Timing.
Edit: u can even see it in ur Video. the ground lights up at 2 Spots at the same time indicating them spawning soon. And then both appear at the same time
Though i do know what u mean, for some reason the sorrows At 33% Cause the most wipes. Which is also why i put such a focus on the fact that epi and cc arent the same thing, and that cc is waaay More reliable for Clearing sorrows, since stuff like accidentaly getting the Tether as scg can reduce ur epi dmg by so much that u cant kill sorrows anymore with it. Which will never happen with cc. Cc will always be the same amount. No variance. No randomness or instabs that can ruin that.
Whereas epis in contrast too that can be "ruined" by the fact alone that the scg isnt running the right runeset for example. And since there is no way to know that without gear check in the game, u run into alot More risc/variance by using epi compared to cc.
2 more smoll things since we are already here, i feel like mentioning that a save spot exists, when she is at the side of the arena, is extremely helpful for beginners. (Savespot for her Autos/projectile attacks toward mid i mean. Groups usually stack there so its intuitive but knowing the reason why people stack can never hurt)
And also u said in the Video that a group can do stuff like say, firebrand clears left sorrow and the Rest the right; is pretty useless Information if u dont know where left and right are supposed to be in a circular arena. So mentioning that u mean, left and right from the Tether wouldve surely been a helpful addition for many noobs/new Players.
In any case have a good day and keep up the entertaining streams.

Situational awareness. Take a breath, don't panic. Like going to the wrong spot on Siax or hitting your orb to my tower, chasing you with their circles in spread phases. Also on Whisper of Jormag. If someone is ahead of you and you are kinda going in the same direction, slow down/stop and you will immediately be spreading apart.

as always great short guide on point!
some things, i think are missing in the guide (or i might have missed..?):
    - portal at 66% fire phase is way more important than the "quality-of-life-portal" for 33% Water Phase. Used in all pug groups i ve been in and failed by so many beginners. trick is to take the portal after meteor sets its position, but before it comes down. good indicator is: portal to mid, after all the firy-waves crossed her in the mid. If you dont know when: follow the others, dont be the first)
    - when she is at a side of the arena its best to stack right next to a wall. In phases when she jumps through the room she will only jump some meters instead of crossing the whole arena (reason behind that is that she is targeting a player and then rushes till she reaches a wall).
    - night phase, 33%: the sorrows will appear at the same time. What you might mean by "after second sorrow spawns": The Guilt might appear before those two - dont waste the epi before the sorrows spawn ! (one left and one right >of the guilt dealing less dps. so it might be best to let the heal take it first, when reaching 6-8 stacks let alac take over, that should cover it.
    things i like to mention:
    - epi-strat works best with 3 epis, 2 will work if a) enough condis are on the boss and b) both scourges exactly know when to place it. With 2 epis it might be best to still apply some direct damage on the ads (eg with sand shadow skills).
    - i can really recommend to use a mirage alac instead of ren for extra condition-dmg on the boss (= way easier skips + easier epis) and a bit more aegis
    - while i love seeing other heals than hfb in fractals i d recommend for beginners to go with hfb, since aegis will save you a lot of trouble for all the tornados & stun-jumps
--> with a set of 3 Scg, Mirage-alac, hfb there shouldnt be big problem to get all the skips at daytime-phase - and this is key to making the fight as easy as possible: You ll not need to collect the stuff in air mode, you ll only have 1 meteor phase, you can even skip the very hard last phase @ daytime-mai where she drags everyone to the center. Obviously, the guide is right to show the whole fight and not rely on that, but with a bit of practice this shouldnt be to hard to achive and makes a clear so much easier.
    gl everyone!

I've tried this a few times. Both times there was a 20k+ achievement point spreadsheet warrior (not the class) that left after the first failed attempt, followed by another leave after the third failed attempt, and so on until the only two remaining of the original five is me and the veteran that still has the patience to try and teach the group.
Furthest I got was the two Sorrows phase, at which point we constantly wiped because people didn't follow the damn plan.

That's insane that they added a whole second phase to the boss fight, this feels more like a strike than a traditional fractal, especially since it's only one boss, and it definitely feels like power creep with ensolyss being a lot easier in hindsight, and kanaxai mostly just having too much health!

Good thing to do if you have hFB is to take sanctuary, its skill that pushes enemy from inside of it, but since bosses and some mobs like sorrows cant be pushed out, it will hit the breakbar instead many times, beign able to solo CC the boss or sorrows.

Thanks for that Mukluk! Now i can link this to my guildmates before starting the training runs!!
Edit: It would had been nice if you talked a little more about positioning, as it is one of the most important things in this fight. There is a sweet spot where you can stand when she's on the side, were you avoid pretty much all damage and can free dps, thats on all the phases! On dark starwars mode, keep stacked! And when she's on the middle, stay near her, running arround will definitly get you killed.
Other thing, people should manage the cc bar! Break it as slow as possible, so you have more time to damage the boss, this will possibly make you skip a lot of mechanics, like the jumpy orbs one.
Amazing video! Keep it up, my favorite gw2 content creator!!!

If you've done 98, 99cm and consider them farms then you can certainly try and probably succeed. Id suggest being in voice for attempts if possible, party be honest about experience and open to feedback. DPS is absolutely a thing to consider and discuss, especially if failing at attempts. Much lower DPS can definitely complete CMS, but things will be harder, more time for things to go wrong. Like if you see an air phase then grp has lower DPS and possibly struggle. For me, by the time someone does CMS, I expect them to be generally comfortable with their class, has decent or above average DPS, situationally aware cos CMS will throw a lot of mechanics at you, like last phases of Arkk. At the end of the day, fully competent dwd groups may even wipe, we restart and kill it again fast. These groups are the best because cm + t4s are generally fast. But if you keep wiping then someone is fucking lying. Please don't do that. Be HONEST!!! Before I got DWD, id join dwd groups, said I know the fight but no title. And most will let you in, and then it's up to you to prove yourself.
