I have worked in so many restaurants as a waiter and I think Matty's vision and love for the restaurant industry is a beautiful thing.
Matty is a Canadian Anthony Bourdain. His lengthy explanation of his love of foods, different restaurants and their influences, brings the ghosts of Anthony's passion into Matty.
Former chef here, my family members stopped watching the show because they thought it was too exaggerated, I had to set them straight that it took me back to my real life experience and it felt so so real, so exciting and I think they may even understand me better because of it. The rush of Now Now Now that is a restaurant kitchen is finally available to them to witness. It’s an amazing show, thank you for it!
I aspire to have this guy's energy, heart, and sincerity.
Well to get it, you need to be a garbage dumpster of every drug and alcohol quantity put in front of you for 16+ years, heart attack at age 29, etc... his explanation of his life is in his first cookbook and his visit to Rogan's podcast.

I was the host of the Food competition series; Best In Chow, Matty was on our Burger Wars episode when he owned Parts & Labour in Toronto; I think it was his first TV appearence, although he was a little nervous around the cameras, he came off as genuine and fun, I had a great time working with him; I'm happy for all his success...BTW, his Burger Won the Best Burger in Toronto.
Just having matty matheson in proximity to the production of the show was an absolute genius move.

It really has helped me address some stuff from that time in my life that I thought was dead and gone, love you Matty and your energy for the show, and for the industry!

Matty is a gem... Just a Dash/ Powerful Truth Angels... Blue Goose farm... but the reasoning behind charging $20 for a salad? If that logic was used anywhere else- few could afford anything.
How many kitchens have needless yelling and drama that are only doing it because of shows like the bear and hell’s kitchen?
His steaks are some of the worst steaks you'll have at his restaurant in Toronto. Rest of the food is mediocre too. He knows how to market his personality and business which is inspirational but has no business in a serious kitchen.
