@@kwaty Absolutely! However, I consider myself very lucky to see such luminaries as Bob Cole, Darren Dutchysen, Bill Hewitt, Rick Jeanneret, Danny Gallivan, and John Madden (to name a few) bring their own unique style of broadcasting to the masses - something many of the younger generations never got to witness.

In my early 20's I worked Security at the studios where there had (at the time) both TSN and Sportsnet on one lot. I remember walking through the hallways and seeing Dutch go back and forth and you could absolutely "feel" his aura as he walked by. The man bent the walls around him with his presence. You know how sometimes people say you can "feel someone enter a room" - yeah, he had that in droves, and you could tell that he was so respected and revered among his colleagues. You'd turn a corner and here comes this absolute tank of a man strolling towards you, so accomplished, so dignified - and you could just tell that he earned every bit of it from us as viewers, and doubly so from his peers/industry. Rest In Power Dutch. You were the heartbeat of that crew and everyone knew it. Condolences to his family.

My brother and I both grew up in Prince George watching Dutch along with Perry Solkowski on ITV sportsnight at 10pm...we each spoke to each other when we heard the sad news. God bless RIP will be forever missed!❤

To James Duthie, Jennifer Hedger and Rod Smith. My sincere condolences for the loss of your colleague and close friend🙏🏻I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Dutchyshen when I worked in Toronto. He was very approachable and friendly. Everyone who met Dutchy is feeling the shared sense of loss that we no longer have his masterfully unique sports broadcasting and good humor available to us. Then I remembered a Dr. Seuss quote, “Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.” We’re all so grateful that you happened in our lives. Rest easy Dutchy🙏🏻🎙️

Man I really liked him. I didn't even like sports that much but I tuned in to see him! I know he was watching hockey in heaven now!!
