Reb Beach is one of these guitarists I love because he shows everyone so much hope with guitar. He can't shred the right hand like Paul Gilbert, yet he plays face melting stuff anyway, his palm muted riffing is so crunchy and tight, and his ascending tapping technique is so innovative. To me he shows that even if you can't develop ultra fast alternate picking, you can still be a monster of a guitar player. He rules.
Reb just kills it. anyone whose ever just let loose like that on guitar will recognize the raw emotion in Rebs face. you just get in the zone and feel it hard. reb is just letting it all out!!
So much fun to watch how these two musical geniuses collaborate. Never gets old! Winger just keeps making phenomenal albums. ❤ And they still sound as good as they did when they first began rockin' in the 80s
Seriously folks, can you say the two best rock lead guitar players on Earth in one band. Just ridiculously good! How does Coverdale continuously get the absolute best players. Just him and Ozzy!
Reb Beach is up there with the very, very best for me. Hired gun? Who gives a shit. He has had to adapt his incredible, flawless technique to other band's stuff and he still let's his personality shine through. A legend
One of his best works to me was Dokkens Erase the Slate album. He was the best person they could have hired to fix the band after the almost irreparable damage inflicted by Shadowlife
I'm a crazy Reb Beach fan. I've been unable to stop listening to the first Winger album lately. So many great grooves, licks, chops, and riffs on that album. He's amazing. Ever hear of Geoff Tyson? Also amazing and similar in style.
Geoff Tyson was a Joe Satriani student like Vai, so that speaks for itself. The only Satriani student that never applied itself was Kirk Hammett. The rest were all stellar players.
Such a great cover band, saddens me Dave is no longer with us but the joy all the members playing together is awesome! Totally captures the 80's fun! Thank you for sharing!
I saw Reb Beach with Dokken at a small beach bar venue called Canes in San Diego about 20 years ago.....playing like this made me forget all about George Lynch. Just fantastic. Joel's melodic, operatic playing sounds like its ushering in eternity 🔥🔥
rebs finger technique is a whole different level from alot of others who have done it and joel is just one of those guys you could blind fold and he still wouldnt miss a note
P.S. Joel and Reb are master Guitar artists, NO doubt, it was awesome even before I found this video I found Joel giving lessons on you tube. WTF YOU Tube, No playing the Vinyl over and over to learn any riff you might need to. Be grateful young artists.
Reb never got the true recognition he deserved! I think he was overshadowed by the Winger name. Actors have the same problem getting type cast. He’s pretty darn proficient. And I’ve honestly never heard of Joel, but definitely looking him up! My god that was amazing.
I met joel last week after a TSO show. Had no idea who he was until afterwards haha. Very polite fellow he was ! Wish I knew he was in whitesnake when I talked to him lol
Amazing Grace solo rendition had the spirit...He sang the vocal part on guitar and then did guitar fills in between the guitar vocals...What an emotional performance, although shortened.
Yo that was REALLY good omg lmao. I can't stop smiling. Wow. I've actually never heard of Joel Hoekstra before but I'm definitely a fan now! and Reb Beach is amazing as usual. That fighter jet sound thing he did at the end of his solo was crazy as hell.
Reb is such a top guitar player, one of the best in the field,i saw him twice with Whitesnake, but with Doug aldrich, another monster guitar player.Joel is on top too.ive seen Steve Vai and Adrien Vandenberg to, many years ago and was a great show,David Coverdale always had good taste in chosing the guitar players for the band.
4:28 It appears someone listened to Liquid Tension Experiment once or twice.. sounds like it's a play on the intro riff to Paradigm Shift. I've never heard of Joel Hoekstra until today, but he's definitely piqued my interest.
Joel just makes me want to burn my guitars every time I see or hear him play. I have played guitar in bands since he was a little school boy and I couldn’t even begin to measure the massive talent gap between us. A guitar GOD indeed !
Damn, Joel's guitar licks is just incredible! Also that part before amazing grace where he uses delay for that melody accompanied by a pads on the background. I also like Reb Beach's part where he uses whammy bar with that harmonics. Both guitar players are fuckin' great!
Doug Aldrich plays a lot like Sykes....and that's a good thing! He rips. Joel is much more finesse and could hang with the finest symphony violinist. Probably why he is great with TSO.
Doug’s a gun slinger. Every time he straps on a guitar he’s either: a) going to break your heart, or b) rip you a new a-hole. He’s so bad ass. Joel’s great too but Doug has more fire.
I think when I was a kid, I imagined what it would look like to be a cool rockstar, and if you had shown me Joel Hoekstra in this clip, I'd have said "Yes, EXACTLY, like that".
Whitesnake always had great guitarists...continuing the tradition, right there! That harmonic-bar trick from Beach is crazy man.
Wow, Joel is so melodic & theatrical, the perfect rock star guitarist.
Who's Joel?? This is Reb Beach!!!
@@NikkieRoxxxYou must be tone deaf. Your username suggests meth is a part of your steady diet.
@@NikkieRoxxx The second half of the video.
Too theatrical for me... He fits better in TSO.
2 humble and best personalities that play hell of solos in any kind.

I wonder if this is really reb beach... the original guy didn't look like this guy and didn't do all those funny looks on his face.
@@calebproductions5970
I thought the same
And he got some balls going toe to toe with the likes of Steve Vai, Hoekstra, and he never backed down. Huge respect. Awesome player.
@@calebproductions5970 Dude, this is the REAL Reb Beach!
@@calebproductions5970it’s called age friend. 😑
Joel Hoekstra with the Amazing Grace rendition was super cool and super emotional !!
I agree it was awesome
Absolutely!
So much fun to watch how these two musical geniuses collaborate. Never gets old! Winger just keeps making phenomenal albums. ❤ And they still sound as good as they did when they first began rockin' in the 80s
Reb is a fucking beast on that axe...he continually blows my mind. Such a talent.
Can you imagine the years of focus and passion to give a perfect performance with zero errors. Got to respect that.
Wow! Both of those solos were pretty god damned awesome! Thanks for posting because I enjoyed the hell out of this!
yes way cool
Two really great players. Both exceptional tappers. Love those long runs Reb does where he taps.
Seriously folks, can you say the two best rock lead guitar players on Earth in one band. Just ridiculously good! How does Coverdale continuously get the absolute best players. Just him and Ozzy!
Both are fantastic. Joel's solo is absolute beauty. Reb Beach is a completely underrated player. The man is a monster.
*HOLY SHIT*!!! Joel Hoekstra IS CAPS LOCKS WORTHY!!!
Reb Beach is up there with the very, very best for me. Hired gun? Who gives a shit. He has had to adapt his incredible, flawless technique to other band's stuff and he still let's his personality shine through. A legend

That is one sparkly guitar!
Both incredible performances.
LOVE the way Joel plays Amazing Grace!!! :)

@jasper426 ha haaa that's pretty bad but fuckin hilarious at the same time.
2 bad ass solos from 2 very badass guitarists ... I will leave it at that .
These guys are Heart and Soul to a great band!Hail, DC and Whitesnake for producing some of the best rock and roll for 30+ years!!Cheers, TW

Joel's the man. 5:07 Amazing Grace how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me. Oh how true!!!!
This is the comment I come back again, and again, and again.
I remember seeing Joel play in Venezuela in the 90’s when I bought his first CD.
Amazing Grace...lovely rock version!!! Joel is great
Hello, how are you doing it is nice to seeing you hear
As much as I was into EVH, Reb was the guy I wanted as a guitar teacher.
Amaizing Joel...
Reb too. Both greatttt
🖤What an Amazing Guitar Solo with These Guys it was dayamm good! I loved it🖤😲
Such a great cover band, saddens me Dave is no longer with us but the joy all the members playing together is awesome!
Totally captures the 80's fun!
Thank you for sharing!
I just love these guys, Reb Beach and Co. .. I'm also a fan of their work ... very good.
I saw Reb Beach with Dokken at a small beach bar venue called Canes in San Diego about 20 years ago.....playing like this made me forget all about George Lynch. Just fantastic. Joel's melodic, operatic playing sounds like its ushering in eternity 🔥🔥
OH MY GODNESS......HOEKSTRA IS FUCKING BRILLIANT
Reb is amazing, I adore that man, his music make me happy 🎸🎸🎸
Joel Hoekstra sounds like he listened to a lot of Randy Rhoads. That was a lot of fun to listen to.
rebs finger technique is a whole different level from alot of others who have done it and joel is just one of those guys you could blind fold and he still wouldnt miss a note
P.S. Joel and Reb are master Guitar artists, NO doubt, it was awesome even before I found this video I found Joel giving lessons on you tube. WTF YOU Tube, No playing the Vinyl over and over to learn any riff you might need to. Be grateful young artists.
Hell yeah Norman Millar that is Reb. Dam Joel Hoekstra is awesome too though I miss him with Night Ranger. He brought life back to the band.
How can the two best guitarists be in the same band? . . .from Deb 2020
Great video! I saw them in Atlantic City on 7/25. What a show!
Joel's note choice is a lot more soothing to the ears. Reb is great too
both are really great ones, amazing performance ;)
Reb never got the true recognition he deserved! I think he was overshadowed by the Winger name. Actors have the same problem getting type cast. He’s pretty darn proficient. And I’ve honestly never heard of Joel, but definitely looking him up! My god that was amazing.
Reb is so underrated!
What people don't realize is two monster working together in a band which is rare despite successful career ...
I met joel last week after a TSO show. Had no idea who he was until afterwards haha. Very polite fellow he was ! Wish I knew he was in whitesnake when I talked to him lol
Reb Beach is great! Joel Hoekstra is a fucking beast! Great playing!
Both great players Joel playing amazing grace just buietiful
Amazing Grace solo rendition had the spirit...He sang the vocal part on guitar and then did guitar fills in between the guitar vocals...What an emotional performance, although shortened.
GOD Bless You 🎸🎸🎸

I was there! Great show!
Reb is a bad ass!! Very talented!
No matter what the make of LES PAUL , the combination of this guitar is just " deep and dark " !!
I love everything about your music forever legends ♥️🎸🤘💯
4:28 It appears someone listened to Liquid Tension Experiment once or twice.. sounds like it's a play on the intro riff to Paradigm Shift. I've never heard of Joel Hoekstra until today, but he's definitely piqued my interest.
Both are great!
Reb eres genial y estas a la altura de los grandes maestros d la guitarra !!
This is truely amazing!!!
They are both great!
This is why we all Play Guitar, don’t forget the Master Innovator R:I:P EVH
El maestro coverdale siempre c a caracterisado x tener en su banda puros musicos de primer nivel..whitesnake very good !!
5:54
Cant you see he's the man,
Let me hear you applaud,
He is more than a man,
He's a shiny golden god.
Interesting solo styles....... makes you appreciate Eddie even more.
I love them both but have become a bit more of a fan of Joel.... Again both extraordinary, but Joel is just beyond human
1:00 this man is playing slide without the slide
this is legendary and outstanddinggg
I prefer Joel. He's real amazing. His guitar approach is unbeliveble
Hey Joel solo was so devastating 😢
I could never play like Joel,...incredible player....that being said...I miss Aldrich in the lineup.
Joel spent a couple hours learnin to play like that... impressive, most impressive.
dude what the fuck did you just say
Reb Beach has got some serious chops. Joel does too!!!
Wow, Reb is just... Wow. Joel is a fantastic player, and an even better human being, but to have to follow that.. Not fair
Both are some bad dudes on those guitars 😎😎😎😎🤘🤘🤘
Joel just makes me want to burn my guitars every time I see or hear him play. I have played guitar in bands since he was a little school boy and I couldn’t even begin to measure the massive talent gap between us. A guitar GOD indeed !
It isn't often to get two amazing guitar players in the same band!
Jeff Watson and Brad gillis..
The weird tapping shit with the harmonics and the tremelo is pretty cool
Both these guys are soooooo underrated!
Both are great
Reb Frikkin Beach! He and Hoekstra on the same tour is like havin Cavier and hot dogs on the same plate.
joe is kinda like dr. brown from back to the future. I like the melodic stuff he does
That glittering purple guitar! Truth to materials, baby!
Love that ws 🎸! Joel! Specially the story behind it!
Super guitarists, Joel and Reb.
Great concert saw it in Vancouver
Damn, Joel's guitar licks is just incredible! Also that part before amazing grace where he uses delay for that melody accompanied by a pads on the background. I also like Reb Beach's part where he uses whammy bar with that harmonics. Both guitar players are fuckin' great!
reb is awesome, joel is magic
That is the best summary statement I've ever seen.
Nicely done. Great attitude
Semplicemente Fantastici 🎸🎸🎸
Born this way!!!
that was so good thx
Love the Amazing Grace solo by Joel
Each guitar player is great, loved some of the stuff reb did. But I have to say that I liked the Aldrich and Reb beach line up a little more.
@@nomadmusicbk2366 would have been great to see sykes and vai!
David Coverdale's guitar players casting always goes with a mandatory blonde guitarist with a Les Paul. xD
Love the entire solo, especially the intro & Amazing Grace. Is that Still got the blues @ mark 6:22? or a Whitesnake song?
I sure do miss Joel in Night Ranger....the dude is so cool and what an awesome player!!
amazing grace!
... " How sweet the sound" !
After Reb have been done Black Magic song, he can do everything is right to me
Vaya dos genios.....
I think when I was a kid, I imagined what it would look like to be a cool rockstar, and if you had shown me Joel Hoekstra in this clip, I'd have said "Yes, EXACTLY, like that".
Reb Beach is so underrated.
Reb snarls and kick ass! Then ; the Ultimate Trench Fighter Badass appears! So much fun!
