    American Revolution is a sandbox strategy game featuring the epic historical period during the rebellion of the American colonies against the British Empire. Take on the role of the British or American Colonists, and fight for territorial control over North America. A gripping real-time campaign awaits you on a detailed 3d map where you can build your army and navy, construct military infrastructure, and fully command your armies on a regimental level. If you want even more action you can fully zoom-in and fight massive battles on a battalion level.
    Fight in real-time on the global map with regiments and naval squadrons. Move your General to gain the tactical control of the situation in a minimal way. The presence of the General makes it possible to control the troops or ships directly on map, actively use maneuvers, cut supply routes, utilize different types of terrain and flank with cavalry. The battles can be fought with more detail and full tactical control by zooming-in further on the map.
    If you choose to fight battles with full tactical control, the regiments become divided into smaller battalions allowing you the command of hundreds of units in real-time, creating a dazzling and realistic combat experience of the historical period. Troops are positioned in a landscape according to the placement they had on the map at the given time. Some will engage the enemy immediately, others can be re-positioned in deployment zones, while those which were further away may join later as reinforcements.
    Realistic reconnaissance is simulated, making messages the basis of military intelligence and battle maneuvering. Messages can be delayed or be intercepted by the enemy, resulting in your orders not reaching your troops in time or rendering communication with your distant territories impossible.
    Army management
    You have full control over your army's composition. Available recruits are determined based on your success in battle and the loyalty of the population. Use these recruits to create divisions, brigades, and regiments. Keep your soldiers alive and they will learn to fight better, turning them from green rookies into crack veterans. Take too many casualties and you might not have enough recruits to reinforce your units and win the next battle. Lose too many battles and the population's loyalty and army morale will drop and the war will be lost.
    Supply is essential
    Three base supply items are needed for each unit: weapons, ammunition and food. Weapons and ammunition are provided by weapon factories. Weapons are received when a new unit is created and later these weapons can be replaced by better ones, according to availability. Ammunition consists of gunpowder, bullets and balls which are spent in battle and must be replenished for maintaining your army in a minimum fighting condition. It is also necessary to constantly supply your army with food, otherwise non-combat losses will grow and the morale of the soldiers will drop. The army can forage a territory for food but, in this case, the welfare of the region and the loyalty of population will deteriorate.
    Food & other Resources
    Food is produced in agricultural facilities. The more food a region produces, the larger the army it can feed. To increase food production, it is necessary to raise the agricultural level of the region. Surplus food will be stored in warehouses or sent to other regions. Mineral resources are needed to produce weapons, ammunition, and ships. Each region has different resources that can be mined. To increase production, it is necessary to develop the level of mineral resource extraction in a region.
    Ammunition & weapon production
    To produce weapons and ammunition, you must develop the military industry. The game has a simplified system, in which you need to build factories and shipyards. The factories are used for the production of small arms, guns, ammunition, and supply wagons. With the shipyards you build warships and supply ships.

    You just have to have a lot of wagons, they will resuply you if they can reach by road. Wagon unit is needed in enemy territory
    Keep your commander near your fighting units, he provides nice buffs

    From what I gather, when you capture enemy regiments, you capture their officer. I believe the guy you found dead was an enemy officer. That’s what I believe based off my runs so far

    You can draw straight lines on the map with your troops and they will follow them, and you can form units up in places where you have recruits then disband them in other places and form up different units and get recruits.

    Wow love the fort battle mechanics. Wish Grand Tactician had this in it to make forts a thing in that game. Love the series, cant wait for this game to be fleshed out more. Was a big fan of UGCW.

    I like the logistic in this game. you have to keep an eye on the ammo. That's the case even now. I would love to see this game go to Europe. Also, its so much fun to watch you play on my 86' tv.

    Situational awareness is key. There were so many units just hanging around getting shot from behind. Check on the Mini map every now and then.

    I found that when assaulting a fort when I have a numerical advantage, it's best to keep at least 1/3 of my troops in the smaller Company formation so I can surround the fort much easier. Once I have surrounded the fort I combine the Companies as I close the circle. That way if the enemy breaks and tries to run I can capture the entire garrison and all the equipment.

    If they do a British campaign I'm very curious as how they're going to run it? As player going to have to rely on on loyalists and indigenous peoples I for reinforcements as recruiting regular probably be difficult in the colonies. I'm also curious if they can add British politics different fractions within Parliament affects the player's to raise war in the colonies and and later the world war post post 1778

      One screenshot they showed on their discord showed units being raised in England and then needing to be transported to the colonies.

      They'll have to add various challenges to the British campaign, like the ones you mentioned. Otherwise, it would be a cakewalk given their superior troops and economy.

    does supply party have any use or significance?
    What I noticed is that the units are replenished with ammunition in the city even if there is no supply party

    • @thehistoricalgamer

      The supply party unit is very useful for replenishing units during battles. I’m not sure they matter on the strategic map. Wagons matter on the strategic map.

    Moving troops on the map can be frustrating. I'd like an option for smaller fonts or an overall better way to control troop movement. And this game punishes you for making bad decisions early on (decisions you didn't know you had to make, like get another general as fast as possible). After taking most of New England and getting ready to assault Canada, the British landed 6000-8000 troops in Boston and retook all of Mass. Was I supposed to leave a garrison of 5000 troops in Boston to prevent that? And what about the other half dozen port cities? I left a few hundred here and there, but apparently that wasn't enough. So now marched my general back to Mass. and have to retake Boston all over again. Frustrating.

      Tbf, I got several warnings about that sea invasion. Both times it's happened so far. I had to reload a saved game once I saw how big it was. I was ready for the 2nd one. Though they briefly took New Haven before I wiped it out.

    • @davidstansbury9309
      @davidstansbury9309 25 дней назад +1

      Personally, I like the challenge that comes from being punished for bad decisions. The need for a 2md General was pretty obvious. I had to start from scratch several times when I first played it.

      I'm fine with learning a campaign game and restarting. I'm on my 3rd play through, 1st two times did not go well. But I'll start again with new campaign, just waiting for game to be fully ready and no longer early access.
      Yes, those warnings pop up, but I was doing so many other things and so many warnings pop up, just missed it. Just was finally making headway and then have to resync and go back and take towns/cities I already had. But enjoying the game, just takes a bit to learn.

    • @Avines101
      @Avines101 7 дней назад +1

      Some sea invasions are scripted. Others are due to how well you are doing against the British, especially if you didn’t check the box at the beginning of the game. Territory % and having an equal/larger army than the British can trigger kings fury or massive invasions, also if you didn’t check the box and don’t follow history the British will send troops to restore historical accuracy for the time period.

    That was the worst representation of Saratoga I have ever seen, lol ...Saratoga was 2 Battles... the British attacked in 3 columns at Freemans Farm and tried to fight in the woods 6 times all day long. The 500 yard long series of breastworks and redoubts were built as Burgoyne sent for help and waited. Journals talk of dogs fighting at night over the bodies and the trees alive with the sound of turkey calls, as the rebels mark our positions. Saratoga could be it's own game.

    • @Avines101
      @Avines101 7 дней назад +1

      Last time I played it was like three of four companies, but max capacity becomes an issue. Merging units is best used to prevent shattering of your units.

    • @Avines101

      Researching the departments should be first priority, then reeearch speed. After that top left to bottom and move right, except for getting Arnold on the map early.
