Exterior Flush Door Handles

Select Kia models feature flush aerodynamic door handles.
There are two types of FLUSH DOOR HANDLES:
Manual handles…
And automatic pop-out handles.
Before we discuss how to operate the door handles, here’s a quick review of the Smart Key:
This button LOCKS the doors and rear liftgate…
This button UNLOCKS everything.
When the doors are locked, this button UNLOCKS just the liftgate…
And this button sounds the PANIC ALARM.
Moving to the other side of the Smart Key, this button is the REMOTE START…
If equipped, the REMOTE SMART PARKING ASSIST buttons are used to move the vehicle forward and backward…
To UNLOCK the driver’s door, using the manual door handles, with the Smart Key in your possession, push the engraved button on the door handle - the hazard lights will blink twice, a chime will sound twice, and the door will unlock.
Once the door is unlocked, press on the front of the door handle…
Then the rear of the handle will POP OUT…
PULL on the door handle to open the door.
After unlocking the doors, if one of the doors has not been opened, all doors will re-lock automatically after 30 seconds.
To LOCK the doors using the Smart Key, press the LOCK button.
On select models with automatic pop-out door handles, there’s an APPROACH UNLOCK feature that, when activated, will automatically unlock the doors and the door handles will pop out when you approach the vehicle with the Smart Key in your possession.
To activate APPROACH UNLOCK, from the infotainment system, select SETUP…
Then VEHICLE…
DOOR…
And ACTIVATE APPROACH UNLOCK.
When you’re within one foot of the vehicle with the Smart Key in your possession, the outside door handles will pop out and the doors will unlock.
Then pull the door handle to open the door.
When APPROACH UNLOCK is activated and you leave the vehicle and walk away, the system will automatically lock all of the doors when the Smart Key is out of range.
When the APPROACH UNLOCK feature is NOT activated, with the Smart Key in your possession, TOUCH the sensor on the door handle to lock or unlock the door handles.
When using the Smart Key, you have the option to just unlock the DRIVERS door with one press of the UNLOCK button…
ALL doors unlock when it’s pressed a second time.
Or you can set it so all doors unlock when you press the unlock button ONCE.
To set this up, from the infotainment system, go to SETUP…
Then VEHICLE …
DOOR…
TWO PRESS UNLOCK.
If needed, you can unlock the driver’s door using the MECHANICAL KEY that’s located in the Smart Key fob.
Just PRESS on the front part of the door handle to access the door lock…
While holding it open, INSERT the mechanical key into the lock…
Turn it to the LEFT to unlock the door…
Or turn it to the RIGHT to lock the door.
